Wait? That was you?! HOLY CRAP!!! You were in Unbeatable Banzuke! What was it like facing off Super Rider 5?. I am a big time fan. Sad that Super Rider 4 was never aired in the us.
Hans, l love it... thanks so much for posting all these historic videos! It's so nice to have the retrospective view of this stuff to put the sport in perspective. I think you might have had an easier time if you had worn earplugs so you didn't have to listen to the damn announcer! It seemed like every time the other guys were on the final leg with the skinny High rail section, the announcer would Elevate his voice to be so irritating and distracting that it probably forced everyone to crash! Evidently you were the oldest guy in the group... one was half your age! It still seems you hold your own in the age category! Keep on going strong!
@@Videogamelover58 Super Rider V wasn't EXACTLY unbeatable. There was a video on Nico Nico Douga, and might still be up, along with a video SAISHUN put up, that showed a previous iteration of the course. There, the first obstacle was an Angle Run similar to the second, except with a less severe turn and more room to maneuver, while the final obstacle had you jump from the curved ramp onto a ferris wheel, and then you dropped down to the goal. Fun fact: Keigo Arizono attempted that version and beat it. Probably because it was too easy (And the original Banzuke was less strict on Kanzen Renewals when someone cleared the course), the VB version replaced the first Angle Run with a Beam Seesaw (Which is still pretty easy if you ask me), and installed the final obstacle of Super Rider IV, the Pipe Beam in place of the Ferris Wheel, which became part of the background decoration, as seen in the above video. You can tell that the course's modifications were a bit hasty in this video thanks to how a portion of the background in the first part of the course is pitch-black, and how the curved ramp lead-up remained instead of being modded. It DID make getting onto the Pipe Beam harder compared to Super Rider IV, however, since the competitors had less room to prep themselves, and the obstacle bounced around more. The decorations seemed to be improved on a later go, if the G4 promo is anything to go by. I remember looking at an old site that revealed that Super Rider V was induced in 2001, so if anyone beat the course's modified form or not, it is a mystery. If it was, then VI (Or maybe another GHOST edition?) was scrapped, and if not...well, that's another thing Power Island robbed us of.
@@Videogamelover58 www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm2647575 Warning: It is a clip compilation, so you'll have to sit through Service Ace, Kick Target, and Struck Out before getting to Super Rider V. You'll see enough of the course to get an idea of the aesthetic differences.

Back then that looked nuts, now that's basically today's UCI trials course!
Yuri Rabena I'd say this would be a piece of cake for today's riders.
I remember an interview with Hans about this and he said no one completed the course it was difficult some almost completed thanks for posting Hans
Dang really? So Super Rider 5 was unbeatable. damn.
