FROM FENDER:
Blink-182 guitarist Tom DeLonge has teamed up with Fender® once again to design a truly otherworldly phenomenon - the Tom DeLonge Starcaster®.
Designed with an offset semi-hollow body, the Tom DeLonge Starcaster boasts a Seymour Duncan® SH-5 Duncan Custom™ humbucker for turbo-charged tone that’s perfect for chunky power chords and crunchy riffs. But it's not all about power - the streamlined control setup consisting of a single master volume combined with a treble bleed circuit preserves the guitar’s natural high-end, ensuring sparkly cleans and chime-y edge-of-breakup tones. The comfy modern "C" neck features medium jumbo frets on a 12"-radius rosewood fingerboard for a modern feel with superior playability. Other highlights include Fender locking tuners for rock-solid tuning stability and fully adjustable bridge with stop tailpiece for classic looks, superior setup adjustment and enhanced tuning stability. DeLonge’s original signature artwork is featured on the back of the headstock and custom crafted neck plate.
Whether you're a Blink-182 fan looking to bottle the band's signature sound, or simply seeking a unique instrument that packs a knockout punch, the Tom DeLonge Starcaster is a must-have addition to any collection.

Body thickness is 1.82 inches... What a coincidence! :D
ive been waiting for this one! thanx guys!
Thanks for watching!
body thickness 1.82" is a fun coincidence
Lol spot on. Thanks!
You were vibing with that one man you sound better on this guitar
I appreciate that, thanks for watching!
I like the Starcaster body and i prefer a rounder profile but I like the roasted Strat neck. It’s got overall appeal, but I’m hoping for a non signature model with these specs and 2 P90’s. I’d love an affordable cool alternative to a Casino or a 330. Thanks to DeLonge for reviving interest in the Starcaster. There’s so many more options that it can still provide.
Its fair enough price that it will likely end up in my collection
Love this guitar and the idea behind it. Request: Can you do a review of the Epiphone Jerry Cantrell Wino?
The Neck is one of the best things in this guitar, and makes me think this instead of the DG EPI. This one seems like a good Fender, if you have a HB Les Paul already. Can do the Indie Rock, Garage Rock thing as well as modern. But changing tone really up to amp and pedals. I wish the DG had rosewood…because this neck alone is one of my favorite and it looks great!
That sounds balanced.. nice playing also
Subscribed!
What amp you plugged into and recording?
finally!
Please recommend a gig bag suitable for Fender Starcaster.
I have now purchased the product and it is being shipped, so I need to buy a gig bag quickly!
Do you think it is possible to put on an other pickup and a tone ? They are the place because I played it and I love the neck and it’s something special that makes you want to keep playing. For an instrument I think it is the most important.
I got a long wait living on Australia september
Seems to defeat the Tom Delonge object of glossing the neck ??
I actually love the look of this guitar and the sh5 💪
12 radius too
Surely a giveaway?!?!?
its like 1800 in canada so way too much, but i still would like one. just wont be able to at that high price
This to me feeds into all the people who say that it's no longer worth buying Fender or Gibson. These are most likely Squier bodies with the only difference being one gets roasted neck with a fender decal and the rest get the standard next to the squire. Not that there's anything wrong with that but I do not think there's anything different about the bodies whatsoever.
Does the gloss finish give it a fake/cheap feeling?
I still prefer the TD stratocasters as the look and sound so good... I wouldn't be able to live with this model.. Its like a gibson body with a strat neck and headstock... Funky
I hope locking tuners starts coming on more fenders
You
Can put them on any guitar you
Want very very easily and way cheaper then what they charge you
For them on expensive guitars
The finish is exactly the opposite of what I'd want, although I love the colors and the optional black hardware. Satin necks are awesome, and gloss finishes protect bodies, so I wish this had been that. I love blink and Tom but this is a pretty easy pass for me. A Squier Starcaster is cheap enough I wouldn't feel too bad about sanding the neck a bit to rough up the glossy finish like I did my Custom Vibe 70s Strat neck that I made into my partscaster Tom Delonge tribute Strat.
Exactly.
man id love to win
Interesting that fender is making these in Indonesia but says designed in California. Wonder what other fender models will be made in Indonesia besides squiers?
My sonoran acoustic is the same. California inspired designed made in Indonésie and sounds amazing
What amp did you plug into?
Usually uses a fender deluxe
Wow the ratings on this guitar is higher than all the gibson SG’s that you reviewed 😂
Love a good seymour dumpin
This guitar is meant to put in some cool design/stickers on it, to make it your own.
The fact you aren’t playing more blink songs is criminal 💀
Copyright laws actually make it criminal to play them, you have it backwards :) Thanks for watching
@@PlayandTradeGuitarsevery other review is in trouble then
any case candy like tom delong sticker?
you need a case to get candy
Does it feels like a 335 or 339?
I'd say more so sized like a 335, thanks for watching
what is strings profile? 11-52?
Ernie ball heavy bottom
This is a dumb question, but how does the guitar go from “clean” to “dirty”? Is it a pedal or something on the amp?
Turn down the volume. Loses the gain and it goes clean.
@@rockcatinc.4814 so how can there be a clean half volume and dirty half volume?
Watch some other videos, which go into detail. They actually show you.
For all our demos - The Clean section is straight into the interface with no amp. It's pure signal. The Dirty is through an amp, usually a '67 Fender Deluxe Reverb Profile with a Tube Screamer but on this TD guitar it's a CAA PT100 profile by Michael Britt. Thanks for watching
@@PlayandTradeGuitars I played this guitar yesterday at guitar center. Pure garbage. Feels like a cheap squire. The guy next to me played it as well and we laughed. I don’t know how you can review this item and not say it is anything short than disaster.
Sounds awesome, but I sure wish they’d have left the traditional Starcaster headstock on there.
I think the newer headstock visually works better with the colour options and the modern vibe. The traditional headstock can be pretty divisive, whereas the newer headstock could be a way to ease in more people to the starcaster shape.
Toms choice is to have the old school 70s fender jumbo neck on his models. Same as his strat.
The phallus shape actually fits Toms sense of humor quite well. Im surprised he didnt jump at the idea of running around stage with a giant wang stickin off of his guitar.
Join, and subscrbe, turn on the bell and like the vid. Also I want one of them Les Pauls on that wall. Like that gold top with the p90's. Been looking for a Les Paul for a while now.
for 2k AUD i would expect made in Mexico at least.
Hopefully this means there will be normal Fender head shapes on future Starcasters.
I saw this in the shop and I had so many questions…why Tom delonge? Who wants to sound like him? Who chose these awful colors? Why are the holes misaligned? Why no tone knob? Why is the one knob right next to the hole? Is anyone going to buy this Indonesian nightmare?
If the only machines Fender has to make the Starcaster bodies are in Indonesia, that means Tom's Fender Custom Shop Starcasters are made there.
Not necessarily. It probably is the only place that has the machines to make them in mass quanity. I can't imagine the custom shop doesn't have a CNC that can make any body design.
That said though, if the custom shops that he tours with were made in the Indonesian factory, that'd be a pretty solid testiment to that factory's quality.
@@pjstraightedgeThe bodies are made there. Brian Thrasher confirmed. Hes the fender custom shop builder who built all Toms personal builds. Gear182 has videos covering all things blink gear. They talk to anyone who's involved building the stars
@@IDiggPattyMayonnaise In theory not a big deal right? They probably still use a better selection of woods than otherwise. I hope... 😂
@@NapsterRulezMost definitely better wood. From what I gather the 4 original demo units made to show Tom were made by hand by Brian and took about a month. Hes gonna use the best they have since he is a custom shop master builder and the goal was to get him to sign back with fender. Tom ordered something like 16 more in less than 12 weeks for different tour rigs. Those bodies were made by the factory.
I can build that guitar with custom color , Alder hollow body, ebony fingerboard, stainless frets , pre-cbs style neck
and push/pull coil-split custom handwound humbucker pickup for $500
Go on then
@@Capwhiz already have
@@tagacale1733are you taking orders?
I’ll take one for
Sure. Let’s do
This
I was the 182nd like 🤙🏼
not one blink riff???
Not here to show blink songs but what the guitar can do
Dysentary gary
Why should Epiphone take notes on a roasted maple neck? You’re not reviewing a Squire.
$1199 made in indonesia
Right?
FTD
Demos artist series, plays better than artist
Yea but I’m guessing Tom has way more fun.
Hey guys, let me demo this Tom Delonge guitar for you! ( proceeds to play Boomer rock) 😡 👎🏼
We are settling for lesser quality and high prices. These guys act like these are gems. They are cheaply made. But we just accept it…..
No Case is a disgrace
It's a disCASE
EDITED, two months later to add: my comments in the last paragraph are 100 sarcasm. In fact it has nothing to do with Tom Delong. It’s a dig at how many signature guitars Slash has out. Please don’t feel the need to school me if bc Tom Delong. It’s not needed.
________________________
Interesting, but I don’t get why a matt finish body would come on a gloss finish neck. Needs to be the other way around or all gloss.
On a side note, how many Tom Delong signature guitars does the guy warrant. I mean, he’s not Slash, for gosh sakes…
I think a strat and a starcaster is about it. But see how many guitar players (including myself) have been waiting for this.
Too bad, i missed out on the ES333s. That was my ideal Tom Delonge Sig. But this will do, and i'm getting the exact same color
@bldallas at least two more gibsons and an epiphone 😂
I like the contrast of the matte and gloss. And whether you like it or not, Tom inspired a whole generation of guitarists. Not to mention blink’s reunion tour was one of the most successful rock tours of 23/24.
Blink is an incredibly successful band that for deacdes has inspired countless amounts of people to pick up playing guitar.
It's not that surprising he's had several signature guitars over the years. Plus, they look cool which always helps.
I think contrast of the Matt finish with the gloss neck is pretty interesting actually.
Meh
This pickup sound crappy.
He probably played the 335 in the album, you can't defeat it with crappy sounding touring guitar like a cheap Starcaster.
They said they recorded most of the album with this. This pickup is better than the dirty fingers anyway
Buy it now before clowns start asking 10k on the resale market. These guitars are pieces of poop 💩 just like the strat sig just like the 335 sig.
Fender getting desperate?
?
In what way? Sounds like a needless negative comment.
@@voyager1568 in what way? Seriously-Tom DeLing? Is there nowhere a better player to get a signature series?
@@nelsonporter8387 I’m not a fan of blink-182 or Tom Delonge but no need to be pissy it’s a fun guitar people can enjoy wether they like blink or not
