Love it! I have to say these drums sound amazing....they sound just as good as their top of the line drums. It truly comes down to bearing edges and tuning....cherry, maple, mahogany, bubinga, wood harvested from the deck of the Titanic....doesn't matter....Terry I just love the way you tune and of course play!!
Exactly. As a sound engineer and veteran drummer, I listen to a LOT of drums... after 17 years of playing and 3 of mixing professionally live and in the studio - and yes, even during the pandemic I did small clubs! - I have an unhealthy obsession with drum tones. I always notice that Ludwig drums always sound like good ol' Rock'n'roll : wide, open, fat. No matter the tuning, no matter the shells, no matter the price tag - they maintain their tone, always. Other drum brands chase trends : the next most-exotic-est blend of wood, or the sharpest 68 degrees bearing edges... and then occasionally the "new vintage" kit come out. Ludwig have been making "new vintage" for the last 30 years or so. They sound just like they always did since Ringo Starr played them on Revolver and Bonzo played the Vistalites... why change the recipe? After 400 years, the only violin technique that stood the test of time is the way Stradivarius did it : spruce sides, maple top and bottom, fish glue, three pieces body. That's it, and that's all. I feel like this 3+3 cherry/maple is gonna be the end game. If you can make a kit this accessible sound this good, be this light weight, and this solidly constructed... you won. I think that, 50 years from now, those kits will go on the market for 2500-3000 bucks.
@@bonzoleum I feel like I know you or should know you, for some reason or another, hahaha! You are probably even more a cool cat than you seem here! ....and I have not said anything about the contest you covered here! ....though the particular winner of this package was one lucky S.o.B to win and make off with all those goodies!
Glad to see you back playing drums after some time duuuude! Those neusonics are just E P I C sounding! That bass drum almost ripped my balls off and I love it! ... and congratz on the modern drummer article by the way!
I think I got into drums because I love the physicality of it. When Terry thumps those tubs you can feel that energy in the kit. Great to see Terry back on vids and back on form. 8pm Chicago time will be 2am London time. I’ll enjoy the play back Sunday morning. Enjoy!
Given a choice would you prefer these to the Centennial Zep set? I know the sizes are different but quality tone etc. Apples and oranges I know. Just curious about what you think about the Centennial drums.
That's great Terry ... it'll be 1 am in UK as the clocks go back an hour exactly when you start. Drumming is off the menu for me I'm afraid. I dislocated and fractured shoulder - slipped hillwalking near Snowdonia. . Any tips for one handed drumming ? Cheers !! Iori 🏴🥁👍
@@bonzoleumCheers Terry, gigs Christmas so hopefully sorted by then. Just got a vintage black label 2002 20in crash on Ebay. Sounds great ... has 2002 stamp but can't find a serial number ?
Good Stuff!!! - 👍
Thank you, Noel!
great cheers from uk
Thanks Alan- you too!!!
Terry you crack me up 😊
Did Bonham have heavy or thin shells on those legendary recordings like Stairway and Whole Lotta Love?
Terry maybe you could interview Dom Famularo, over the phone or what not work on it Brother . Hey to George 🤟🤘✌
Terry....... Which drumheads do you think would better for the Neusonic drums? Clear or Coated ?, I would like your opinion please? Thanks Sir! 😎
You get more tone with coated or more attack with clear imo.
Hahaha was that clap at the beginning the Bay City Rollers - Saturday Night???
YES SIR!!!!!
. Terry, good sir ,.. Try a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a small glass of tepid water for alleviating heart burn ,.. ;o)
Thanks Beard!!
