I’ve been watching Nazare surfing footage here on RUclips for many years and I think many would agree with me in saying that this is some of the very best footage ever filmed - I think you were particularly lucky to get that last day with a combination of lighting and very clean sea state, with major swells.
That said I really ask the BBC to do a separate edit where you turn this 10 minutes sequence into a much longer documentary which does the following:
1/ shows the full ride of a given wave sequence, with long clear prologue to the ride and long epilogue, so that each ride really stands out as a long sequence on its own combining all the footage as well as the commentary and interviews with the participants
2/ introduce the team that is working Cameraman/jet ski drivers and get their observations down on Audio and to cut them with the sequences as above
3/ use absolutely zero Cliché music and only the sounds of the sea and the environment
    ***
The BBC probably has the budget and resources to do this but if any independent filmmakers want to do the same thing I think they’d be a big audience out here for such a documentary with such an original angle.
That said you were super lucky to get such great sea state and lighting conditions for those and sequences, thanks for a great job and great storytelling

If you pay attention to what is said you hear the name:
      Nazaré, mainland Portugal's west coast.

Nazaré has what we call a 'wedge', waves that crisscross and double up. They are not from big swells like the waves in Hawai'i.
Had we swells like the ones that reach Hawai'i and the size at Naza would tip the 100' scale easily.
