One of my sons has Tourettes syndrome (as does my brother in fact, to a lesser degree). And his ticks and noises are way worse than anything I am seeing with this lad, so yes they are more than believably real.
It is a horrendously hard affliction to deal with and it's very embarrassing for him.
Ticks are exacerbated by stress and anxiety, and trying to suppress a tick has the knock on effect of making them even worse and more obvious. (My son's vocal tick noises are REALLY loud and it took me a long time to come to terms with them myself as a parent, let alone how he must have done).
I can only imagine how bad this boy's ticks must have gotten with the stress of what he has been through recently.

He clearly understands that it isn’t idealized behavior, given that extremes he was considering, but has the intestinal fortitude to stick it out and has worked to avoid making those same mistakes. That makes it a learning experience, not a problem, in my book because the issue has been corrected.

ADDICTION IS A DISEASE!!! Anyone who has been in or has seen a loved one through recovery, knows. PEOPLE CAN CHANGE! There are some very powerful, inspirational people in this world whole name recovering addicts/ alcoholics, and they are usually some of the most amazing people you’ll ever meet. Those in recovery are people that truly allow God to reshape, and reform their hearts, and souls. Everyone has a past, and 9/10 there is something in the past that you regret, or may not be proud of. But what is the point of redemption, if your can’t outshine your old self? Sketch is a pure soul, and funny as hell! We need to support those willing to change, and open our hearts to those, that are on that journey.

People operating from a supposed “moral high ground” are some of the worst people I have ever met because it seems like they feel the need to keep an account of everyone else’s wrongs so they can feel better about themselves, rather than being inspired to know they can simply be better people by making better choices no matter how far gone they might be.

Been watching everyone’s reaction to the sketch situation. So far this is my favorite specifically due to the emphasis on your belief that people can change. I wasn’t the best brother or son to my family early in life (absolutely selfish) and now I’m having to deal with the repercussions many years later. All because the concept that people can change is foreign to them. I’ll always be the selfish asshole despite giving up so much of me over the years, constantly trying to prove that I deserve a place in this family. It’s taken its toll mentally often pushing me into a depressive state. I genuinely understand why sketch contemplated. It’s not easy dealing with stuff alone and it’s even worse when you feel like you’re dragging others down. I want so badly to find god but when you’re always made to feel like nothing you do is ever enough even the idea of being deserving of gods love becomes a dream. Anyways, love the content Brett!
