I was just thinking about how insane it is that so many natural hair products do not contain protein when our hair literally needs it. Keep on educating!
Thank you for this video! I’m low porosity and most videos say be careful with protein, but since I started listening to MY hair and not what everyone else was saying, the extra protein has done wonders for my hair. Your video has been very validating
Heyy there! Thank you! & I personally love this treatment!! But it’s not for everyone it’s extremely protein heavy and also only really supposed to be used by professionals but hey Ho! 🤣
Please do a video on how baking soda and ACV affects our strands & scalp there are a few people who use them & only them for cleansing & conditioning, is that really ok to do ?
I'm really enjoying your videos! Do you think you can make a video about grease and silicons? What are thoughts on them and how to use them? Is grease silicone?
@@naturalnadinee hi Nadine, I tried the acv rinse and I liked it so much I stupidly decided to leave it in and now I'm feeling a slight burn on my scalp. I rinsed it, maybe I didn't dilute it much. Is this something serious, what should I do? I hope you answer, thank you.
The thing with our black hair is that it is so diverse....many black people are mixed with other races and different genes and there in lye our problems lol....my grandmother was Ameriandian yes my hair came out so thick and 4c... Good video ..learn alot
So diverse! I am Zimbabwean born both parents and grandparents. Allegedly there’s some Caucasian somewhere down the line too guessing as a result of slavery/colonialism so honestly I would love to get to the bottom of how that impacts this but for me the bottom line is that I’m black. Thank you sooo much I really appreciate it 🤍🤍🤍
Can you tell us how you feel about the maximum hydration method? I need you to explain everything to me because I love how you use science and research to back it up! You’re like the only person I trust now haha!
How do you balance protein with not getting protein overload? Been struggling with lower scale porosity hair breaking and drying. A protein treatment damaged the hair. I am not anti protein just trying to understand how to use it without it breaking the hair. And I do get balancing protein with moisture. Thanks!! Love your information. Science works for me! Just trying to find a balanced moisture / protein/ moisture training routine on fine, high density, hair.
Hey girl proteins are not a one size fits all different size proteins affect the hair diffferently low molecular proteins are best! I only recommend strong protein treatments for EXTREMELY damaged hair, xxx
Thanks Nadine💕 I have a question,so..we dont have protein treatments in my country, and i really need protein for my hair it's very frizzy and it breaks alot!..could you tell me about some protein remedies i can make at home that as effective? Pleaaaase reply😭
I’ve been using the Taliah Waajid curly curl cream/lotion (which has burdoc protein) for a year straight and am now struggling with brittle, dry and frizzy hair. I’m not sure if this is the cause but it’s the only product I use containing protein
You can get too much protein thus the term protein overload. Either get help from a professional or look up protein overload, and see if that applies to your situation.
@@naturalnadinee My apologies I didn’t know where to find the replies. I do both, I was weekly and apply this product post was to twist my hair and reapply mid week. I’ve currently discontinued use and have only been using the kinky curly knot today leave in with the design essentials mousse following up with morning oil and my hair has been doing better❤️
@@peytonshue I used that line and I have coily hair. The shampoo is softening and cleansing with sulfate. The conditioner is 🤌🏾🤌🏾: detangle, softens the hair and smells soooo good. I preferred the all soft mega conditionner because I like how thick it was 😉. For the next 6 months, I'll be using redken lenght to see if I can retain lenght better with this line🤷🏿♀️
I was looking at the Lador Perfect Hair Fill Up ampoule and it says it uses hydrolyzed keratin... Can't tell if that's a low or high molecular weight. How do you think it would effect type 4 hair? You used the Lador LPP treatment so I thought you'd probably know. There are no black ppl reviewing it on youtube.
I’ve just searched and the website said there is no protein! So that’s my mistake I assumed because of the strengthening nature and how it made my hair feel it was very protein heavy! Xxx
Heyaaa I usually only like to recommend products I’ve actually tried and the Shea moisture is the one I always reach for! I’ll definitely start to try to use more low molecular weight proteins and get back to you on what works xxx
@@naturalnadinee just watched one of your newer videos. do you know if silicon mix is a keratin treatment? I've used it regularly and not sure if long term my hair will have protein build up issues and start to break off
There’s so many different range of protein as I said in the video if your hair doesn’t do well with protein try low molecular weight proteins they will strengthen your hair without the overload. All hair needs strengthening with protein xxx
You are right. Please listen to your hair. The curlier your hair the more protein you possess. The looser the curl the more protein you need. Don’t find out too late when your hair is dry and breaking off. It’s amazing how protein is pushed on every hair type. Use common sense on what your hair needs. This is said with much respect to all.

All of my hair products are moisture based with pretty much no protein. I do have a protein treatment which I use once or twice a month though. Is that enough? I think my hair is medium porosity. My hairdresser told me not to use protein in my hair because it's curly and 'dry/damaged' but that occurred without any heavy protein anyway...
Hey xx A protein treatment once a month is good practice but I honestly think a “little and often” approach works best with protein because it can address damage sooner and preventatively rather than waiting to do one big treatment to get all your repair in. Eg using olaplex every wash day has worked wonders for my length retention because I’m constantly strengthening my hair every wash day where I manipulate it a lot etc xxx
@@naturalnadinee Thank you! I might give that a try and incorporate some protein into my regular routine. I've just been on the strict CGM and 'no protein!' train for so long, I'm scared it's going to cause more damage. 😅
I was just thinking about how insane it is that so many natural hair products do not contain protein when our hair literally needs it. Keep on educating!
Honestly it’s difficult to find products that contain a good amount of protein ☹️
Because not every hair need protein so if its added to every product we would be on trouble... But yes we need protein....
And if they do contain protein it's not the good stuff aka hydrolyzed.
Thank you for this video! I’m low porosity and most videos say be careful with protein, but since I started listening to MY hair and not what everyone else was saying, the extra protein has done wonders for my hair. Your video has been very validating
I’m relaxed and even when I’m natural I require more protein. I notice that protein helps the hair to retain moisture.
I use Joico. All of their products have keratin protein in abundance but it's hydrolyzed. I think that makes all the difference.
I have always equated your hair not liking protein to a pig saying it’s allergic to pork. It’s like listening to myself!🤣 Keep speaking these facts!
I was jus thinking a few days ago that I need to ramp up more products that has protein in my regimen. Thanks for sharing this
Definitely do! Your hair will thank you for it xxx

The type of protein matters. A lot of these natural product lines are not using quality proteins. Joico is high quality HYDROLYZED proteins.
What are your thoughts on the brand Redken?

Hydrolysed Keratin is a high MW protein :) it’s more like a temporary keratin treatment so not the most ideal for curly hair xx
