    It’s an act of mercy for God to judge us and for Him to be trying to do all He can to help us understand who He is. This was helpful!

    I'd like to hear the pastors view on if Satan and Lucifer are the same thing

    • @gisellewisdomdavey5554
      @gisellewisdomdavey5554 8 месяцев назад +2

      You don’t need pastor Doug’s view. The Bible is clear that Lucifer became “the adversary” Satan.

    • @sjepson100
      @sjepson100 8 месяцев назад

      That is a good question. This is not as simple as some might think to document using only the Bible. The KJV, for example, only uses the word Lucifer one time. Isaiah 14:12 Day star, Helel, bright one, light-bearer... and some of the Hebrew words translated into Latin and then to English can also refer to who was at the time, the future Jesus. Fortunately, it does not seem to make a lot of difference in understanding who and what we are talking about. Lucifer is the English word we use synonymously with the Devil and Satan. The same goes for the word "God" really. It's just a place-holder word we use in English as a way to refer to who and what God really is. It's not a name. It's a title, and actually just a replacement word for Hebrew replacement words. If you study your Bible cover to cover you will see that there is no personal pronoun sort of name for God. Just titles and made-up words. For example, Yahweh, Yahuah, Yahudah.... these are just man-made words created by adding vowels from another one of His titles (Adonai) between the 4 letters of the Tetragrammaton. If you recall, when Moses pressed God for a name, he was given a rather abstract phrase instead. I AM THAT I AM (or words to that effect) 'ehyeh 'asher 'ehyeh. God does not give Moses a personal pronoun sort of name like Bob, Dave, or even Jehovah -which is also just a transliteration that has morphed into an English word over time. Adding to the confusion is that the English Bibles have replaced all of the original titles with the word "God" or "Lord". The problem with that is that English Bibles read as if "God" is a name in many places, when in reality "God" is simply another place-holder sort of word that we use as a reference to who and what God is. God is: (in modern English, and using their current titles) God the Father, the only begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost which they share. And these three are one, and co-eternal. 1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." John intentionally uses the Word synonymously with Jesus, as is evident in John 1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made." What is true in the beginning of the universe, is also true in the beginning of this world. "And God[Elohim - plural in this text] said, Let -*-us-*- make man in -*-our-*- image, after -*-our-*- likeness:..." And they did! Elohim is speaking among themselves in that text. "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines." Hebrews 13. "I, Adonai, do not change..." Malachi 3. What changes are their titles - It is at the -*-Incarnation-*- that the Word becomes Emmanuel(God with us)/Jesus the Messiah, the only begotten Son of God- and that part of who and what God is that stayed in heaven assumes the tile of God the Father. Before the Incarnation, the titles of Father and Son do not apply. This will surprise many of you, but only because you have never given it any thought. Test it. The Bible is 100% consistent cover to cover. The reason Jesus and the New Testament writers use the new and appropriate titles of the Father and Son paradigm is that they are referring to who and what God is - after- the Incarnation. This is logically essential to avoid the Arian heresy that Jesus was brought forth, created, or is some kind of emanation coming from God the Father at some point in eternity past. That does not fit with John 1. The Word was not created. He is the Creator, and He is God. God is not a name - God is not a single individual. I would also like to add since I am on a role here :) that (rationally speaking) God is *NOT* three Persons - as per the *poetic lyrics* of the lovely hymn. "God in three persons, blessed trinity". That is not a theological statement. It's just a lovely hymn. Only the Word who became flesh and dwelt among us is a man. The Father and the Holy Spirit are not humans. Only humans are people. Only people are Persons. And spare me the "but they have personality, so they are persons" argument. My dog has a personality. Divine beings can have personality and even a personage - without being persons. It's fine to use persons in casual conversation about who and what God is - if - we all know who and what we are talking about, but it can be dangerous to speak about the things of God so casually. We use all kinds of words very loosely at times and it works. The word "guys", for example. It doesn't always need to mean males in common usage. It can just mean the group of people you are referring to. That's the way I see the word persons being used in the lovely hymn, and when some people talk about God. It's fine - as long as we all know who and what we are talking about. Sometimes we need to be very specific, but we are not always speaking as if we were publishing a book.

    Jesus started Catholic church in 33ad. SDA started in 1836 by a woman. Why exactly are you with SDA? Honest question.

    • @carols4137
      @carols4137 8 месяцев назад +8

      Not started by a woman. EGW has never been the leader of this church. Her prophecies, just like any prophet must be tested against the Bible. As for the Catholic church as an organization….they did not begin in 33AD, but several hundred years later with Constantine’s era. The events from Jesus life and the conversion of so many Jews & Gentiles was not a denomination at all, but a movement of God’s people to follow Jesus in real time -- over time denominations developed….then as more light was given some groups split to other new denominations. If we choose to anchor our beliefs on any DENOMINATION we will be lost. Our only anchor can be God, His Son, His Holy Spirit, and the Holy Bible. Any influences other than what comes from the Word must be put to the test of the Bible alone with prayer of wisdom and enlightenment and a willingness to change our understanding and ways, otherwise we risk being on the wrong path. As it says in the Bible - Test All Things (1 Thessalonians 5:21) and Spiritual things are Spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 2:14). It’s important to analyze the church, family, and society religious traditions in real time….we must seek to orient our views from the Bible alone and guard against Traditions of Men (Mark 7). Pray for an open heart and for God to give discernment in any message and for God to give you the willingness to go to His Book and seek answers through your personal relationship with Him…not in relationship with a Denomination as your guide to this life. There is certainly a place for church….but your personal walk must be with Him alone.
      You can stream a movie based on the history of the SDA origin - Tell It To The World. It’s available on RUclips and other streaming services. Historically accurate.
      God bless & keep you.

      If Peter was "pope" then why is it that when they had issues, they resolved it by a Council, such as the Jerusalem council in Acts 15 and 16, rather than by Peter giving an edict with his "authority." There is no biblical evidence to support that. In fact, the same statement given to Peter, "unto you do I give the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatsoever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven," is repeated to all the disciples in Matthew 18! Think about, Jesus is giving all of the Apostles, not just one, authority!

      Pagan Rome became Papal Rome. The Catholic Church is not and was not founded by Jesus. They have made up doctrines that are man-made and not Bible-based. They’ve changed the 10 Commandments.
      I can’t speak for Pastor Doug but I would assume he’s Adventist because it’s the church that follows the Bible as closely as possible.
      Sola scriptura. Anything and anyone who contradicts the Bible must be rejected outright without hesitation. And as someone who reads their Bible daily, I could never be Catholic knowing that their teachings contradict the Bible left and right.

      @@gisellewisdomdavey5554 "When God sends to men warnings so important that they are represented as proclaimed by holy angels flying in the midst of heaven, He requires every person endowed with reasoning powers to heed the message. The fearful judgments denounced against the worship of the beast and his image (Revelation 14:9-11), should lead all to a diligent study of the prophecies to learn what the mark of the beast is, and how they are to avoid receiving it. But the masses of the people turn away their ears from hearing the truth and are turned unto fables. The apostle Paul declared, looking down to the last days: "The time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine. 2 Timothy 4:3. That time has fully come. The multitudes do not want Bible truth, because it interferes with the desires of the sinful, world-loving heart; and Satan supplies the deceptions which they love.
      **But God will have a people upon the earth to maintain the Bible, and the Bible only, as the standard of all doctrines and the basis of all reforms.** The opinions of learned men, the deductions of science, the creeds or decisions of ecclesiastical councils, as numerous and discordant as are the churches which they represent, the voice of the majority-not one nor all of these should be regarded as evidence for or against any point of religious faith. **Before accepting any doctrine or precept, we should demand a plain "Thus saith the Lord" in its support.**
      Satan is constantly endeavoring to attract attention to man in the place of God. He leads the people to look to bishops, to pastors, to professors of theology, as their guides, instead of searching the Scriptures to learn their duty for themselves. Then, by controlling the minds of these leaders, he can influence the multitudes according to his will." Great Controversy - Chaperter 37 -- my favorite.

    *Here is WHAT Jesus had to say about humans; From "The Gospel [ ACCORDING TO ] John", in chapter 8, verses 40 t0 46; Quote;*
    *40. But now ye seek to kill me, A MAN that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham...*
    *41. Ye do the deeds of your father... Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God...*
    *42. Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me...*
    *43. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word...*
    *44. Ye are of your father the DEVIL, and the lusts of your father ye will do... He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him... When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it...*
    *45. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not...*
    *46. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? End Quote...*

      Of *critical importance* is to understand *when* Jesus "proceeded forth and came from God;" This can only be at the Incarnation. Not before, els you tread on the slippery ground of the Arian heresy. The Word who became flesh and dwelt among us/Emmanuel/Jesus the Messiah is not a created being. He is co-eternal. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. *All things* were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." John 1 And lest you forget that The Word of John 1 is Jesus, John uses the Word as being synonymous with the Son. "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
