@@GizmoDrones Mini3 does a great job! It is on par with Air2S... I'm interested in your FPV shots, I'm sure they're top notch! Thank you my friend, I wish you a nice weekend too!
I see you’ve been unfaithful to your Autel Nano Plus... 😂 JK. The footage looks awesome. You’re city provides some great views from above, especially with all the lights at night. Very cool.
Haha true. It is nice to fly the DJI Mini 3 Pro but the Autel is my true love :) I am lucky as there are so many places to film. Thanks and have a great week :)
Thanks so much. I wanted 10 bit video that comes with D-Cinelike but I suspect it is the same as normal 8 bit colour. Thanks and have a great weekend :)
You did a fantastic job in post processing, mate. 🤘👌I think this looks wonderful, but you are right. Not a competition to your Nano + videos, even after all the firmware updates for the Mini 3 Pro. Thus I guess, for night shots the Autel drones remain the first choice. However, overall I think the Mini 3 Pro is a good drone, but for me simply too expensive for what it offers. Is there a reason why you use auto camera settings in flight? I am not experienced with night flights, but I would never use the auto function during my flights. And have you tried to lower down the shadows (-30) and highlights (-60) significantly first and then enhance the gain again? Then I use the gamma correction to adjust the shadows. Works fine for my daylight footage. And I always enhance the colour temperature a bit on my Mini 2 (recorded with 6100k), because mostly the DJI footage is still too bluish in my point of view. However, I am not very good in colour correction, I only used some tips I got from my son, who is very experienced in these kind of things. Myself I am just too lazy to put too much work into the grading, although it is very important to get a better result.
Thanks so much for the great comment. I do agree that in every other aspect the DJI Mini 3 Pro is awesome. But I love to film sunsets and sunrises so for me the #1 feature is low light capability. I mostly use manual camera settings but sometimes I use auto in low light in these 249g drones. If it is was important then I would always use manual. I think we do a similar thing in editing. I use the Offset wheel to move exposure up or down plus adjust the shadow and highlight wheels slightly and then use the S curve to fix the clip plus I will use Shadows, Highlights and Midtone Detail in the 2nd menu area for overall improvement. I basically play with the levels and check them for every clip. Sometimes I can just copy them across similar clips. I usually will correct the white balance and sometimes change the tint and temperature if it is needed. I am still learning too but feel I am getting better bit by bit. I will save the settings and import it with each new project so that the hard work is mostly done. Anyway I really like the Mini 3 Pro, it flies nice, controller is nice, 4K 60fps and so on. I just wish DJI didn't compress the shadows and detail so much. Maybe they can fix it? It is supposed to have 150Mpbs bitrate however the most I have seen is 94Mbps. So there is capacity to store more details. I hope. Thanks again and have a nice weekend :)
@@GizmoDrones You are for sure more advanced than I am, regarding colour correction and it shows in your wonderful sunset and night shot videos. And it is your videos that really showed me the differnce between the Mini 3 Pro and the Autel Nano +. 👍 Thus it is great you have both drones to directly compare.
what’s your iso setting? I saw at Philip Bloom’s review that in low light, HQ (up to 30fps) has much internal noise reduction from iso 800 and up, so he sugests to shot at 50/60fps with iso 800-1600 where the details are much better
Does not makes sense! High frame rate the lower the video quality will be on any camera. I did see on Phillip video of the mini 3 some major problems with his footage where the parts of the video odd and swifted, he could not see the problem but like myself and others did see. I guess his eyes are not the same when I used his footages in 2006 for an encoding technology I invented. He likes blurry footages. That is what he said. The other hand the higher the video definition is the more you can use it for my applications.
@@InteractiveDNA well, I am waiting for my mini 3 tomorrow and I will test it with my own eyes and decide. An one month sailing trip in Cyclades will be more than enough for various tests in various lighting conditions
@@KostasGur Yep! it is always the best way to see if a product works for your needs or not. But, again, if you did buy for the video quality, this drone does an ok job. After you have yours, film anything and compare to the Nano+ footage like the ones on this channel. See if it is worth the money, because you are buying a flying camera. You will see a HUGE difference in quality watching in a 4k television and RUclips is prioritizing 4k contents more and more. But again, everyone have their own priorities in place. Good luck!
I normally use manual settings but for this video I just used auto. I wasn't planning on using the footage but then changed my mind. I don't mind the noise that much as it can be fixed in editing. However I wish the camera could keep the detail in low light. It seems to compress/crush the shadows. I noticed the bit rate drops significantly (around 80-90Mbps) when it is dark. I hope DJI can fix it with an update so that the low light shadows are not compressed or lost.
Nano+ kills it in low light compared to the Mini 3. The Nano+ is far more capable in low light & has superior dynamic range compared to the Mini 3. Different sensor technology, RYYB v RGGB.
Not even close to the Nano+ in every level. The Nano+ destroys the Mavic 3 cine in image quality, to the mini 3 it not even fair. Just watch his video on a 4k television and you will see the Huge difference the Nano+ is. So far I have yet seen any videos better than the Nano+. Having the Nano+ is waisting time filming with the mini 3 and even the Mavic 3.
I am not promoting any company but the Nano+ has the best video results. It is not only the best in the sub 250g segment but also outperforms much more expensive drones.
mine was a simple question to better understand the video qualities of the two drones and your impressions. I own the nano + and I find it to be something exceptional. Surely Autel must wake up and provide updates: Active track and waypoints. But the video qualities of the little nano + are not in question. They are fantastic!. Thank you 👍
@@GizmoDrones U are very correct, just because, u add a 1.7 aperture ,or lower doesn't mean your going to have great lowlight. The 1. 7 aperture is better than 2 8 though. Autel knew ,that just adding 1.9 aperture, wasn't going to do it alone, so they added the yyrb filter, with 40 percent more light, this in turn with the sensor they put in the nano plus, combined all together, equals a 1 inch sensor or better. Autel, knew it would rival any one inch sensor out there, but they might not have know that could beat a 4.3 mirco, which it has proven it can.
Acceptable for a hobbyist for sure. Not really in the same league as the Nano+ but the N+ is exceptional. Having said that I'm impressed by the M3P for it's attributes and daytime photo and video ability. Great travel drone; especially with the extended flight battery. In a perfect world an N+ and a M3P would be more than enough for most hobbyists.
I've read social media comments that the Mini 3's 10 bit D-Cinelike is actually digitised 8 bit, and DJI just calls it 10 bit. This would explain why you were having these editing issues. The shadows in the Mini 3 imagery are poor compared to its number 1 competitor, the Nano+.
I think you are right on both points. To be honest I was expecting better low light capability out of the 3rd generation Pro version. Have a nice weekend :)
It is super easy to code a 8bit capture into 32bit or even 64bit. What DJI did was dividing an crap 8bit video into .25 to create the 10bit. It is a fake 10bit from what it captures. It is a common use in code to up-convert video/bit.
I would sale all DJI drones and just film with the Nano+ and buy the Lite when comes out. Image quality of the Mini 3 is ok buy not good. All DJI drones have the low definition problem, video looks like an up converted 720p video. It look not that great on a phone and watching in a 4k television looks below average the video quality. Watch the Nano+ video and than watching this video after I would return the Mini3 asap. Wow! I feel sorry for those that believe this drone film good. And if you can not make this look good, ordinary folks will have a hard time understanding what they have and live in denial. Amazing how marketing make people believe that crap footage is good.
I think you are right. It is a surprise DJI still using ordinary sensors when even phones can shoot in low light. For now I will continue to use Autel as my primary drones but I will keep the Mini 3 Pro for a little longer.
