Mulch doesn't choke out, it holds in moisture. Wood chips work best of all if u can get it. When it breaks down, it enriches your soil & it it helps keep it soft giving roots more room to grow. Love how mama showed up ready, i relate to that completely with my own daughter ❤Hope your mom had a happy Mother's Day & my girl Boon as well. A yard is always a work in progress so go at yourown pace especially since it's clean now. Soil may encourage weeds tho. Theyll land in the dirt & a take root right on top of your tarp. So no dirt. Mulch or wood chips
I’m a new homeowner and I cut my own grass. I dread getting started but I’m out before the sun, it’s relaxing sometimes. But girl this home is WORK

I would love to see you do a gardening series. I’m a first time home owner and I’m trying to get into gardening and lawn care so I don’t have to keep outsourcing it. It was really enjoyable watching you do this. I really don’t see young black women doing this type of content and I really loved it. Would love to see this be a regular part of your content!

Yeah lawn and garden is a hot topic for the summer to draw more supporters too like us that love the outdoor stuff plus we all learn something. I hope your mom does some outdoor gardening videos too!
I agree! Congratulations on your home purchase. I purchased last summer, it’ll be a year next month. I just started gardening as well. I have tomatoes blooming now and bell peppers blooming now. Cucumbers and onions coming along. Just added some mint. It’s definitely work but, also peaceful being one with God. It has become my meditation time. I encourage you to try it! I’m in my 30s don’t have a clue what I’m doing lol trial error and research 🙏🏾

I don't care what kind of shoes I have on I'm taking off my shoes in the theater especially in the theaters where they have those recliners chairs! That equals comfort and getting the full experience ❤️ I do like that brown top, really cute

Have you thought about putting a prayer wall in your back yard? You get stone rocks 🪨 and build them as high you want and write down your prayers on paper and place them in between. I know you said you feel at peace when you sit out there. Just a suggestion 😊

Great job Destiny!!! Absolutely love the therapy gardening series!!! I got motivated to do some yard work watching this. If your interested.... You could do a mulch/potting soil combo in your flower bed. The potting soil built up around the base of your plants/bushes gives them the nutrients/moisture they need. The mulch would provide the garden aesthetic + weed barrier you need to maintain the bed. My thoughts anyway... Love Love Love the support from your family as always!!!!
When I did mines I did the potting soil around the base of what I planted n the mulch in the bare areas….so I did both mulch to hold the moisture in and potting soil to feed the plants 🪴 😊

Great vlog destiny, always plant perennials, they always come back every year. You don’t have to keep planting flowers in your yard every year . Also, I would use rock versus mulch, but is your yard, but rock will look real clean and nice?
I think it’s definitely a preference. I had rocks in a certain area of my front yard and I replaced them with mulch, a.k.a. beauty bark L O L

Great job!! I just finished my flower bed. 60 ft. Of landscaping fabric. 60 ft landscape edging, 120 bricks and 40 bags of mulch!! It looks great!! And you can't tell me nothing 😂. It is a great work out. You will feel such a sense of accomplishment every time you pull up to your house. You got this!❤
Your flowerbed is looking good. Trim those dried branches off your bushes. The new stuff will come out.

I used to love doing these kind of diys! Then my lawn mower broke, and I just had my 3rd baby, so I'm getting everything outsourced lmao. But I am going to have my mom come and visit so she can't plant my flowers lol
Loving the outdoor footage, I’m a plant mom myself and I love soaking in new tips for other people that loves the garden/plant world just as much as I do i recently just bought a White Bird of Paradise and a Peace Lily love seeing them thrive 🪴🦋
Destiny, get you some Roundup and spray it periodically when you see any weeds popping up. It worked everytime when I had weeds in my landscape. This way the weeds won't get overgrown. Honey, I feel you on the critters too.😂
Begonias will not grow back in TN. It gets too cold here. They do good in warmer climates. Here in our area, they're more like an annual. Have you thought about daylilies? They're a perrinal, and when they are done blooming, you're left with greenery. They die back to the ground, and next year, they come back.

I am at that stage where I don’t mind paying for convince. The first two years of homeownership I maintained everything, but now time is the new currency for me so I pay for Lawn care along with some other things. I do however maintain my flowerbeds because it’s very therapeutic/relaxing for me,
every house in my neighborhood comes with bushes. when we moved it we opted to remove the bushes that was a workout in itself lol. then the previous owner put lava rocks down that was more of a headache in itself. it was very therapeutic to put my hands in dirt and anybody that knows me know i don’t do outside, dirt or bugs. we spent about 1500 on flowers and mulch alone tell me why a animal started munching on our flowers at least $300 worth of flowers GONE. we repurchased the flowers different flowers apparently whatever animal liked those too 😂 bought more flowers different kind and that dang animal came back again. i’m talking hostas, purple hearts, snap dragons, i think pink ice, we had some sort of vine plant he ate that. finally caught the culprit it was a dang on deer eating our flowers. i live in the city in the suburbs we had no clue deers were in the area. now we put out shavings of irish spring soap so he or anybody else won’t eat our flowers.
I really like this Destiny. My mother is law and are planting the Purple Hearts, in my yard here soon. She suggested them for me. My yard looks a mess lmbo, since my husband got deployed.

Destiny if your bed is not finished, try Hostas. They are easy to take care of, very low maintenance.

We had black mulch previously it did look beautiful. Just considering the upkeep and maintenance right now and leaning more towards potting soil

Depending on the climate, begonias normally don’t grow back year after year. Look into planting hostas. They’re a perennial. I think they would look good in your front yard. You can get them in different colors, and they’re easy to maintain.

I love working in yard because I have a lot of flowers. I go outside everyday just to look at them. Awesome mom. You’re so sweet and wholesome. She did a great job raising you. Lights look fine the way you have them. Spaced out.
