- This layout by Gordon Stockman, the "Santa Fe - Texas Petro Line,". The layout is featured in the August 2021 issue of Trackside Model Railroading. The layout is also for sale by the owner's family. It features an amazing, one-of-a-kind coking plant/oil refinery made by the owner, who worked as a designer of these coking plants in Houston, Texas. Gordon's facility is quite detailed; he joked that if he could run oil through his facility, he could produce coke.
Thank you for viewing our RUclips channel. Don't forget to give us a thumbs up if you enjoyed the video and subscribe if you want more to see model train and prototype videos.

Rest in Peace with your Savior, you are a true model railroader.
Rest in Peace Gordon, you were obviously a master at model railroading and will be missed.
His skills were amazing, the coking plant was absolutely amazing in person to see. I'll try to remember to send the comment to his son in the morning so he can show his mother.
@@Tracksidemodelrailroading Thank you, he's certainly left quite the legacy. I hope someone who can respect the quality and beauty of his layout makes them a fair offer. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.
Excellent photography, no drone shots, no hand held, no pan and zoom, some nice dolly work, excellent!
Glad you enjoyed it
Agreed. Unfortunately, though the sound editing is all wrong. A train going over a track joint makes the classic light clackclack-clackclack noise as each pair of trucks goes over it. The heavy kerchunkchunk-chunkitychunk in this video is a train going over a double-diamond.
Amazing Layout!!! Condolences to his family.
If I had the room.......
The red ballast is insanely accurate.
Man need place and the money for this breath taking piece!!!
thank you share the video
R.I.P Gordon
Truly a work of art - hope its preserved intact .
The coking facility is amazing, plus there's plenty of other good detail as well. RIP Gordon...
Very beautiful work - love the ATSF Livery! Good luck to the family, condolences and greetings from South Africa

This is one beautiful Railroad
This is truly a man who loved his hobby
RIP Gordan magnificent layout.
So sorry for your loss. Magnificent layout.
Great layout indeed ! It really deserves a second life.
Very nice layout. What a amazing layout. Sorry for your loss. Don't sell his work. Donate to a museum or club that will preserve all his hard work and love for the rr.
Well I'm speechless. Beautiful Layout, Just Beautiful!!!
What a truly awesome layout. Everything even the sounds just right. Very impressive !!!!!!!
Glad you like it!
That is a Gorgeous layout. Beautiful presentation. Whatever the future may be of the layout, thank you for honoring Gordon's work with this video. OUTSTANDING!!!
Hello James
How are you doing
This is very well done. Very very well done.
Another great video, Ross & Jenny! I was hoping to see you at the Boeing model train show this year, but I guess you're busy shooting layouts!
Amazing detail! Most realistic layout I've ever seen and heard! He was a true artist!
Totally!
Wow, great layout. Really nice.
(I like the freight car rumbling and braking sound effect.)
Thank you very much!
Excellent video. I like the bird sounds in the background!
Thank you very much! We put in all the sound effects of the rolling car noise and nature in the videos to bring the railroad to life. At least we try to do that :) some do not like it :p
The whole layout is very good in details and rolling stock. I really enjoyed seeing the details of the distillery. Thank you. Best regards.
I really hope someone is able to get the whole layout... I hate when such beautiful art has to be torn apart, especially when it represents someone's legacy.
To me, I see ripping apart a layout to sell off as pieces the same as cutting a locomotive down for scrap and parts... Necessary sometimes? yes, but always a tragedy.
if the legacy was that important to the layout owner, you would have thought that he would have instructed the spouse as to how it was to be disposed. in a lot of cases, the friends of the owner would assist in the dismantling and disposal of the layout. i've taken apart 6 layouts, assisted in the sale of 3 estates, and it can be heart rendering. rarely will the widow get but a fraction of the estate. bottom dwelling consolidators will offer pennies off the dollar, and scam the spouse as to the value. friend can assist in getting the best prices for the widow, but emotions can make the difficult task even harder. RARELY can an intact layout be saved. most were never built for removal. when i took mine down, i gifted all the benchwork to friends who were building their own layouts.
That's why I tell friends that even if you plan it as being your last , to build at least the benchwork sectional. That way you can make changes real easy or sell and move later.
A beautiful layout and quite realistic. I am stunned by the delay coking plant and how detailed it is, but that was Gordon's specialty. I hope someone acquires part or all of this fabulous layout.
I hope someone gets the whole layout as well. It would be a shame for the delayed coking not going to someone, that piece is priceless in my opinion.
Gorgeous layout. What a refinery!!!
It really is! Best one we have seen to date and we've shot a few hundred layouts since we started our digital magazine.
Stunning model railroad! The detail is beautiful and Gordon did a fantastic job of creating this realistic layout!!
We agree!
Great layout beautiful scenery...
Spectacular!
Nice video today thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
@@Tracksidemodelrailroading If you get chance Have a look at my new channel .Hope you like it and share .Thanks for your support
Absolutely beautiful layout with great low perspective camera shots. Ambient and locomotive noise gives the the layout a real deal looking approach. Well done and thanks for sharing 👍
So glad I have already subscribed or I would have missed it.
Thank you very much!
Wow wish I could come see it in person
It was amazing, the coke plant was out of this world.
Gordon did a truly amazing job with this layout. Can the whole house be bought to keep his legacy? Thank you.
LOL I guess one would have to talk to the family about that option and if Houston TX is where they could see themselves for the next . . . well, forever :)
I wish I had the space to be able to preserve this thing and honor his legacy. It's a shame that the family is selling it rather than passing it down to future generations of Stockmans but everybody's situation is different. If they do end up breaking it up i'd be interested in a locomotive and a few pieces of the rolling stock. I'd put together a shadow box and display them. May have to send them an email. I was just in Houston a month ago on the way to and from Galveston. Would have loved to have seen this layout.
I saw this layout back in 2017 and was very impressed by the detail if I had the money to pay I would like to buy this layout.
It's a very nice railroad, I don't think you're the only one that would love to have the money to buy it
@Karl Bertos You'd have to ask Gordon's family as we didn't ask. You can contact them at stockmanlayout@gmail.com for a price.
Always sad when it comes time to take down a magnificent layout. I’d love to get my hands on the refinery and Coker but I bet it’s outside my price range!
Yeah I would also love the delayed coking plant, it is a one of a kind built by someone that actually designed the prototypes.
Very nice layout! How large is it?..
It is in the digital magazine, I will try to get the info on Monday for you.
Impressive Broke My Heart the day I arrived after divorce. Chainsaw n Trailer.
Problem is most of the time if you purchase a layout like this you practically ruin it taking it apart so you can transport it unless provisions have been made years ago. Great stuff thanks for posting
Very true
Any updates on this layout ?
If it wasn't in Houston, I'd be all over it.. Is it a modular layout or like so many others is it not?
It is not modular, I would hate to think of what freight would be for something like this. I'm sure it would have to be shipped in a 53 foot trailer.
@@Tracksidemodelrailroading fair enough, but I have buddies with trailers for that but getting it into a trailer is gonna be harder with it not being modular.
Yeah, I think it would be manageable. It has a pretty good shot out the door where someone could pull close to the building. If the trailer is 16 feet I bet it'd be somewhat easy. You could have them ( Mike ) take pictures of the doors and driveway for you to see if it's doable. I think it would be.
@@Tracksidemodelrailroading I think i will. 12k isn't easy to come by these days so it may take a while unfortunately. But I can haul a 16 foot trailer with ease.
Are those rebuilt U-boat SF-30s
6310 is a GE U23B.
I just got this. Was the layout sold or dismantled?
Yes it did sell, it sold to a subscriber, just a few days after publishing the layout in our digital magazine.
I've been looking for somebody to do a professional design/build/install of a large HO model layout in central Texas to no avail. Do you have any contacts or somebody who might?
Lance is the best in the business, you can find him here. lancemindheim.com/
Sad it has to be toen apart
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🚂🚂🚂
What are the dimensions?
How do I get contact with the seller?
Sorry Stevie, This layout sold in the first week it was published in our digital magazine. One of our viewers bought it up pretty quickly, and for good reasons, it is a fantastic railroad.
@@Tracksidemodelrailroading I'm not surprised. I've been looking for somebody to do a professional design/build/install of a large HO model layout in central Texas to no avail. Do you have any contacts or somebody who might?
Where can I make an offer, I wish you linked where I could.
The email is in the video. We did this to reduce spam email from bots.
@@Tracksidemodelrailroading Ah, I see.
