I watched your video twice. How boring. But what an excellent job you did did capturing the essence of railroading. Trains running through ordinary boring countryside. Not all of this country is majestic mountain views. Excellent work! You also have a new subscriber 😊
Excellent layout. I like how you avoided using a Helix and have the trains gradually making it up the incline to the upper level. Very realistic scenery and back drops that compliment the scenes. Thank you for sharing this wonderful masterpiece.
Thank you, too kind! Happy to share, and trust me there are many blemishes...lol. To me, it's just about the overall look and feel. taking out the helix and extending the run was the best thing I've done, plus it created space for operators and provided more storage options under the layout. That was a big selling feature!
You continue to amaze me with not only the improvements to your layout but also with the continued development in production value of your content. I like your combined use of photo backdrop’s as well as your hand painted ones as well. The change is very subtle and nearly unnoticeable. That is good as the only real job of the background is to make the flat wall disappear. Again good job. I’ll be looking forward to your next post. You and your operating friends have to be having a wonderful time operating your railroad.
Thank you again Joel. The backdrop is the trickiest and originally was all shaded to imply depth. I'm slowly converting much of that to photos and playing with structures as well. But, I am still happy with the painted look too. Cheers Davin
Nice job of modeling this portion of the Santa Fe and your equipment weathering is realistic. Great looking layout! I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to future videos. Mike
Just found your layout in my feed. Been watching a few of the videos. Very nicely done! Solid trackplan, nice avoidance of helix, nice scenery great rolling stock and weathering is stellar! I like the painted backdrops they do very well and reset viewer back to the layout. I see your trying some photo backdrop too, solid but not sure they are required. Thanks for sharing I look forward to future videos!
Your layout is one of my favorites, since I model a huge portion of Texas in N-scale. I learn a lot, looking at the topographical changes, as the trains pile up the mileage. Been to Texas many times, but never seen the whole state. I think it's 800 miles from end-to-end. Read that the Amarillo area is one of the windiest places in the U.S., second only to the area around Dodge City, Kansas.
Thank you. Kindly appreciated! Personally, I've only explored a small portion of Texas, just enough tot get the feel in HO Scale. Lots of research though. I'm from Ontario, Canada, so it's a long distance thing for me. I'm sure a bunch of us would like to see what you are doing in N Scale. Cheers
@@atsfslatonsub6257 I don't actively push my You Tube channel much, but I have a clip over there of progress on my Texas layout in N-scale. Got no trains running yet, though.
I really need advice on planning a layout that is static, stand alone and sturdy, bi-level and doesn’t mount on the wall as I am renting at the moment but want to start a layout in the 12x16 space i have.
There are so many things to consider, but firstly you need to decide what to the purpose is, then you go from there. Building a layout in sections is the only way to go if you plan to move it. Otherwise it is extremely hard to get it together reliably 4’ or 6’ sections x 12”, 18” 24” or whatever. Solid frames and legs that you can adjust
Our layout is 2 level , but not attached to the walls. The legs close to the walls support both levels . Upper level is super light and made from 1 X 3s and foam tops. Only the bottom level has legs supporting 4 corners of sectional modules.
SUPER GREAT AND REALISTIC Layout at almost zero cost ,

Thanks for being bored with the 'every day' stuff. :) That's what I was going for. Cheers!
Great video, thank you for sharing this. 👍
Very cool railroad! Love it!
Thank you!

@@atsfslatonsub6257 Do you have a video describing how you measured the track gradients? This befuddles me.
I am a Santa Fe Super Fan, great work!
Great video of the of your fine Layout, thanks for the tour.
Thank you. That is very much appreciated!

Absolutely insane layout! I like the weathering in the units
Thank you very much @UMT004

Thank you Mike. Always appreciated!
Very nice railroad! Understanding the overall context will make your future switching videos even more enjoyable. Thanks
Great point. Thank you!!!
This video made my Friday!
Seeing an “old school” layout with pure ATSF is such a treat!
Really enjoyed this and look forward to upcoming videos!
Thank you. I appreciate hearing this!
Absolutely love your modeling style, and I think it’s cool to see another modeler who models an area far from home. Thanks for the tour!
Thank you. Distant prototype too?

Thank you. Certainly always trying things, I just don’t have a ton of time. I hear ya though!

Nice video and great layout. I love your track. Have you done or do you plan a video on how you weathered your track? Thanks
Thank you Gene. This is something I could do for sure. I appreciate the ideas. Paint and powder but there is a method to the madness. Haha
@@atsfslatonsub6257 Thanks for considering sharing your technique.
