If you get lucky with a close gold/stone like this, you can get a much faster 2nd TC time by sending three to gold at start, then having them build forge on stone and send two more with them. Can go off gold/stone at exactly 200/356 and start on wood early.
Thats exactly how I do it. Even when gold is a bit further off: send 5 (!) vils to gold, gather up 50, send to stone. You either get a faster age up or can get the towara without stretching the age up out even further.
onnas only good when you have two melee upgrade and a melee banner man. without those they are trash units -- only get 6 damage
and you have like 20 of them, without any melee upgrades... you should have collect more stone. not only just reach 200 gold, but like 210 gold to upgrade. so you have 50 extra stone to upgrade melee damage.
Lmao 多汁的 literally means Juicy, the meme is really taking over. Always love your content, drongo, would you mind casting some pro team games to see how do the new civs perform?
Thank You! This is not only an amazing build. Also some very helpfull thoughts how to handle some important desicions while base building!
Thanks for starting to include spreadsheets with your builds. It really, really helps us lower ranked players.
This is great but in my experience Jeanne D’ickhead and 2 knights will have already idled the vills building the second TC by 5:45.. I’m forced into the TC and to rush up a barracks and build spears but now there are 3-4 knights. I can spend the next minute or two stationing spears on gold/wood or building walls but now archers are coming. I can go horsemen to deal with them but now Jeanne is probably going castle. Would love to see this against real aggression.
Dude same, first it's her and 3 knight then the whole nation and I'm dead.
I think rushing 2nd TC against French was already bad.
Now when the non-landmark TCs only have 7 garrison space and 6 tiles range, I think it's not really viable against tempo civs, especially against Jeanne.
But might be viable against slower civs.
@@olegdragora2557against "slower" civs you still get units out rather slow. You make your first onna with this when the hre has burgrave up. 2 mins later there is 10 castle maa on your wood.. seems hard to defend with Feudal units of japanese
There is no such thing as a universal build. Different civs, different maps, even different levels of competition or different spawns require different strategies. Part of the beauty of the game. Find what works for you. A 1 TC Japanese opening is pretty fast and passive stone collection will get you the TC upgrade and/or a second TC anyway, soon enough to get you thru Feudal aggression.
I really like to build the second tc later, just play safe, scout and have enough army to repel an early agression, then I build the second tc at like 7 or 8 minutes. Been having great results with that, but I’m a plat league scrub, so I don’t know if it works on higher elo
also fyi the kura farms will destroy straggler trees when they spawn (but they won't destroy forest trees).
in this video it's fine because he chops them before the farms spawn there, but watch out for that in builds like this where you need all the trees.
Thanks for all the amazing content Drongo, I watch every video you post no matter the content
What a wee gem this channel is! The Japanese are my new favorite faction
Drongo’s ID translate to ‘Juicy’, showing his massive love to Zhuxi😂
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
As a new player to AoE this helps a lot, butr it is still so overwhelming. Thank you for the help!
ona bugeisha get counbtered really hard
can you actually upload the excel file instead of a screen shot pls
One thing I should point out is from the beginning with the placement of the forge. In this particular case with the gold and stone so close together you could have been much more efficient by grabbing far less stone and transitioning over to gold directly when you get close to the 350 you need for the TC. It might even pay off to do this with a gold that's further away if you just do one pick up to get you over the top vs. having to gather 500 stone.
a thing to keep in mind with the Kura Storehouse is that its not only a farm landmark but also a universal dropoff point. If youre planning to harass your opponent early saving 50 wood, from a lumber camp or forge, can be massive
Not to mention it contains all your eco techs as well
And you can shelter vills too! So if its further from a tc it's not necessarily that bad
Drongo, im a conq player, and i got a more efficient Build Order for the Japanese, where i Age up much faster and have a 2nd tc 10-30sek. earlier depending on how much villagers i build it with.
feel free to cast it, use it, or do a build order guide with it cause i main zhuxi anyways. Just mention me (schwarzfußsanji) :)
Build Order:
4 vills from start go to gold
2 on food
next house on berries. rest on food.
the 4 from gold go to stone, build forge there, drop off, and collect stone until 350stone and 200gold. Then they build the Landmark.
Meanwhile keep 4 on food and rest to wood.
Age Up Timing: 4:50
2nd TC UP: 5:40.
Thank me Later alligator
My OCD freaks out that there is 1 space between the Storehouse and the primary TC, that 1 line of extra space we cant fill.
when i saw it, i cried inside, why didn't I just put it one tile closer to the TC T_T
Its such a hard part of this game. I am just getting into it and you and the other casters help me by consolidating the good games/ niche players and explaining whats going on. BUT BUT! My OCD will be my downfall in expanding my base EVERY TIME haha.
Thank you for what you do Drongo!@@AussieDrongo
A good update to this build might be going to Daimiyo Manor early in dark age instead of saving that stone. I doesn't give you any bonus without farms but you get the one villager with that update instead of making a vil and an bank 50 more food super early in the game which gives you a faster feudal. Also gives you a faster 2nd TC if you biuld the TC with 3 vils and prioritize the TC macro instead of using 5 vils. Huge against knight civs
i can dig it
why do you name yourself 多汁的
Great build order. Very in depth. I am wondering if there’s a build order you can castle to against aggressive civs
Questions
is it better to have daimyou manor first then although it will delay the second tc 4-6 minutes?
I dont think there is enough data to realize who this is strong against so I'd love it if we had a tournament where the top 16 or top 8 (to keep things top notch) play and they only play 1 or max 2 civs so that all civ combinations are explored in multiple maps and scenarios
Just be careful you don't destroy your stragler trees with the free farm from the storehouse. That can happen leaving you wondering where the tree went
Danke
Drongo name in Chinese means “Juicy”
He really know how to get a name 😂
Do you have a video showcasing/using this with a real player?
Drongo teaching us a new strat...
Why we´re on excel? :v
Thanks for the breakdown drongo😊
This is awesome drongo!
Could you do one of these for OOTD!?
Arigatogozaimasu!!
i love Drongo just name himself "juicy" in Chinese lmao
Doesnt work on KI 🙄
i never know what to play agains ayyubis with raiders
Awesome guide thanks !
Drongo's Chinese name got me XD Juicy
thats a lot of units for 15 minutes i never knew such thing was possible.. it takes me 20 minutes to build a military of 10 (with any civ for that matter)
It's just Onna Bugeisas, who are a fast produced very squishy units reliant on massing them.
Individual units are cheap which allows to mass them quickly, but you need a lot of them, lose them very fast, and have to be constantly replacing them.
This is the Demu build! I was there when he was refining it!
yy but drongo obviously dnt know even after his 4th japa video on this topic....
Is Drongo now using Google translation from Juicy to Chinese as username
It must be.
Drongo got a Juicy name here
I've been messing around with this build and I'm yet to get it to the castle age in half a dozen matches. It seems extremely easy to punish with earlygame aggression, especially to either of the Knight civs. Looks great on paper or against an easy AI opponent but it doesn't seem fast or reactive enough to counter any Feudal push? Would love some tips for dealing with that or maybe a way to pivot to a more defensive build?
you have to scout early and find if they are also going 2 tc or going more aggro. if they are going aggro you have to be adaptive with the build order and create troops then delay the fast castle
you can keep in the bank the 350 stone and use the the 400 wood to make production buildings if u see them being agressive and from there if u manage to defeat the enemy units and make your remaining units on the push.. u can easily push a 2nd TC or just push for win.. but imo its better if u go 2nd TC by using ur units agressive to hide it. Cuz as u see even if he made 2nd tc he was spaming units on cooldown which usually doesnt happen
Yeah just tried this build vs Byzantines low plat and got I absolutely creamed lol.
I think gathering straggler trees instead of placing a lumber mill really cripples your production, because it means you can't have like 5-10 vills on wood to get your production structures up.
Also this build overgathers 150 stone for the tc. I don't think there's any reason to do that, it doesn't speed the tc up, and this build isn't even rushing the daimyo manor afterwards (also not much reason to, it doesn't do much when you have no production and 1 farm). I think there's some tricks you can do to get a slightly faster tc (I've gotten 4:45 with straggler trees, but the eco felt worse than just building a lumber camp and delaying the tc slightly since you can't really afford production with no lumber mill), but personally I think you should just put 2 on stone, gives you 350 stone at 5 minutes. I've been experimenting with long distance gathering 60 gold (you can have 3 vills gather 30, build a house, then gather 30 more, since houses are dropoffs) for the age up, but just building a forge on gold is still less expensive than the 150 over-gathered stone.
I think the best way to do it though is honestly just to get the wheelbarrow equivalent upgrade in dark age and rally 2 to stone. Idk how fast it is fully optimized, but you can at least get a 5:10 tc that way, which is 10 seconds slower but you've already got wheelbarrow so your eco is probably better.
I also tried this build but i feel like it might be better to do the default opening like the normal civs and based on the enemy agression to move to stone for another TC. or keep gathering stone while u have vils on gold and kinda delay the TC upgrade till u get 2nd tc and be able to move to stone easier for upgrades etc that way u will always be able to get 2nd tc for basically free.. just need the 400 wood. I think this build drogno shows might be the best for fast imp while having insane farm eco
might be the best against RUS, Byzantines, HRE, and civs that dont really wanna force fights 2nd age. @@RandomPerson-cc9mn
The based as hell AOE4 guy
Another banger
Or should I say, smanger
What would be a good fast imp win condition for this build?
3 minutes and you didn't age up??? its not a good build order
