Israel minimized civilian harm to a very large degree in this attack. It was targeted at Hezbollah fighters. Very few civilians were harmed. Yes there were a handful of collateral deaths and injuries, but 99% of the injuries are to Hezbollah fighters. That is about as good as it ever gets in war. Also, this did not affect general civilian pagers, it only affected pagers ordered and distributed by Hezbollah to their fighters. So, to the extent Hezbollah co-opted civilian technology for military use, it is fair game. I was a military officer for 24 years in the U.S. Army. All of my training at various levels included training on the laws of war. The woman commentator glosses over these facts. It would be much different if Israel targeted ALL pagers or walkie-talkies regardless of who used them, but they didn't. Israel intercepted and modified pagers and devices ordered by and distributed to Hezbollah fighters only.

Hamas' attack was in contravention of international law and Israel's retaliation has well exceeded the bounds of legality. Furthermore, the root of the conflict is Israel's occupation which is illegal, as observed in the ICJ advisory opinion. If cessation of hostilities is what is sought, then Israel should end it's illegal occupation and blockade on Palestine. If you keep a nation under a suffocating occupation, it's only a matter of time before death cults like Hamas emerge.

It is bordered by the Yarmouk River in the south, the Sea of Galilee and Hula Valley in the west, the Anti-Lebanon mountains with Mount Hermon in the north and Wadi Raqqad in the east.
