Thank you for posting this video. MANY of us with first Gen Cayenne's are having this folding mirror problem! I would love a video showing how to remove the large spring in order to remove the plastic motor cover so you can access and inspect (and possibly replace) the motor gears. Could you show a video on how to break down the complete folding mirror motor? I believe you can purchase one of the motor gears on Ebay (the smaller one), the replacement gear is metal I believe, but they are not cheap to purchase.

Spring isnt removable it has a sleeve with flange that was pressed in there that if you remove it you wont be able to put it together

Porsche made imposible to take it apart without Damaging the stainless tubing they used, if i remove the tubing it’ll come out however you can’t replace it because plug and wires go thru it so i would need to take the plug apart or splice it and put it together after, then i’ll need new tubing and whatever tool they use to make that flange at the ends!! i did think about other options and it may be doable but i just haven’t try my thing was what if i do figure it out? thats a special gear that you wont find so its useless to inspect it 🙄 however i did figured a way to check if a mirror is good or not which i assume you want to be able to test it at the junk yard 😁 this mirror motor only has 2 cables and Motor its a 12V so all you need its a battery, if you have a jetski or motorcycle you can use those batteries!! conect battery to the plug for the mirror to go one direction then reverse the wires and mirror will move the oposite direction i tried it my self on my truck when i was testing it…
