Fantastic review man, really glad to see someone making recent reviews of the Illini/Saluki! About time Amtrak added WiFi to the Superliners...that was always an issue. The new mood lighting is superb also. I'm also glad to not be the only one who picked up on Amtrak's business class "scam" here. Really weird how they're still selling Business tickets even though the Superliners have no actual business class section. Not sure why they don't just remove it completely from this route considering the Amfleets/Horizons aren't coming back any time soon. Also, were passengers allowed to visit the sightseer lounge car at all or was that totally blocked off?
The observation car was blocked off completely. The thing that bothered me the most is how they offered business class for the same exact price like Amfleets/Horizons!!! Glad you enjoyed!
Will-Fellow SIU Guy here too! I graduated SIU in 2012 and was born and raised in Carbondale. I come to Carbondale once or twice a month from Chicago to visit the Family. I usually fly into Cape Girardeau or Paducah (I work for United) but yesterday I had to take Amtrak 393 as well. The trip matched exactly what you showed in the Video so I really appreciated this! I still booked Business even knowing it wouldn't be a true business class but I do agree that it's kind of a rip off to me. Do they purposely block the aisle seats in "business" on the Superliner? Otherwise that might be the only advantage of booking Business anyway. I am both in cities a lot so let me know if you're around would love to meet up and say Hi! Alex

Not anymore! Idk if they will again
I haven't gotten to take the train to or from Chicago lately. Thanks for sharing the trip!

Where is the cafe on that train?
First floor of the same car I sat
I shot some parts of the cafe car during boarding. I know it wasn’t the best because I wanted this to be in discrete, but I got what I could
