Thanks for the great comparison Eric. SuperColor and SuperBright is exactly what we are after at LIFX. Pro-tip: If you want to add more than 2 strings sets, the overall brightness will drop a little, so best to use 1 power supply per 2 string sets for peak brightness. You can then group them together in the App and control as one. We also have a Matter update coming soon to the LIFX String Light to match the rest of the LIFX Outdoor Range. So stay tuned for that update.
I like your video, but can you simply create a checklist for all three? Length, extendable, brightness, color, apple/google support, cost, etc? You cover a lot in this video, but by the end, I still didn't know how to equally compare all three side by side. There was simply too much information to remember.
Great video Eric showing the difference between all three outdoor lights. And my favorite lights are the Lifx lights. The price is pricey but you get what you pay for. Also what is that blinking lights in the video at 836? I also have to say I wish that Lifx had the same thing Nanoleaf to secure the lights and not just a hook to put the lights in and hope they stay. But really great video showing the difference in price and quality on all three
Excellent video! Have you encountered any issues with connectivity or reliability when using these lights with smart home systems? Also how do these lights hold up in different weather conditions, particularly rain or snow?
So just so you know the govee string lights do have a nice warm white led in them, but the problem is that when you want to use that you can only find it in the scene tab and then it's called iluminate and then it wil turn on the warm white led, but it doens't work with the diy or effects tab.
You seemed to ding the Govee for the bulb shape being ordinary, but that’s what I want in a string light! I don’t want an exotic looking thing. Especially if I ever want to do a circus theme for my Halloween display. But the lack of true whites is a dealbreaker. I cannot seem to find a string set that checks all the boxes for me and it is super frustrating.
Thanks Mike. Nanoleaf is RGBW "IC" so yes you can have different colours for each bulb. But to get Christmas colours, you'll have to download the Christmas Light Scene as you can not create your own scenes like you used to. You also can not bring over any scenes into Apple Home like you used to. I belives these new changes are cause its not Apple HomeKit, it works with Apple Home via Matter so hopefully they will bring back those abilities as they work on Matter.
@@ModernDayTech Thanks for that. I'd be reluctant to use anything that isn't natively able to sit in HomeKit. From what I've read about Matter it's a bit disappointing Versus all the original promises. BTW really love the channel!
Great review and great videos. Question regarding connectivity....as smart homes are getting popular and bigger choice of options, what are your thoughts on Wifi products. vs Zigbee and z-wave? I am finding Wifi options are cheaper but rapidly overloading WiFi routers and connectivity.
Thank you. That's a great question. As smart homes expand and more devices come into play, the debate between Wi-Fi, Thread, Zigbee, and Z-Wave becomes more relevant. While Wi-Fi products are often cheaper and widely available, they can indeed put a strain on your network, especially if you have many devices connected. Thread, Zigbee and Z-Wave, on the other hand, operate on their own frequencies, reducing the load on your Wi-Fi and offering more reliable connections. The trade-off is that they might require a hub or boarder router, which can add to the cost and complexity. I really wish there was one standard, but I don't see that happening anytime soon-even with Matter on the scene, which has actually made things a bit more complicated. But like most things, sometimes things have to get worse before they get better. Ultimately, it comes down to your specific needs and how many devices you plan to integrate into your smart home system. For larger setups, Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Thread might offer better scalability and performance.
I just started with smart lighting and plugs. I really wanted the Eve plug but my closest Home Depot didn’t have it. So I went with their defiant smart plug. I had to use their recommended app. But it works out just fine right now. I might switch over to Eve plug. That way I can have it all in the Apple home app. But I have in one room the Philips hue and in another I have the life color changing bulb. I wanted to do this for a long time. But I had to wait till I got the HomePod mini. I was messing around with Apple home app and then my vizo tv showed a code. So then I added that to my Apple home app and then I added another tv to it too. So now if I don’t remember if I turned off my tv in the room I just left. I can just ask Siri.
You mean the flag? Here's the short video I did on it. Affiliate links where you can get it are in that video description - ruclips.net/video/UCXyEFSR6jA/видео.htmlsi=BY3NS3WpQerZiVnE
What do you mean the open part has always been up? Even in the video it shows up. The issue is the joist runs in one direction and the wires go the other way jumping from joist to joist. Thus the mount its flush to the joist and and the mount is pointed in the wrong direction. There was some places like at 12:36 on the blocking between the joist that was facing the correct direction that I could use them but I don't have many places like that that so I had to use electrical wire nail in clips on all the joist. Let me know what if I'm missing something.
@@ModernDayTech When you're mounting on a vertical surface, the clip works easily. But if you need to mount on horizontal (like the bottom edge of a joist), turn the hook over. That way the open part of the "J" faces up instead of down.
I actually just went through a warranty claim, and it was pretty straightforward and hassle-free. Sure, it's inconvenient, but that can happen with any product.

I was looking for this sort of review! Thanks so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Looking for recommendations. This video compared for quality which I was looking for before pressing " order " on Amazon . Thank you
You're very welcome!
Great video Eric showing the diffiencet between the colors keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!

Thank you. I agree. The blinking light is the Luba 2 Robot Mower just to the left of the deck.

I wasn't dinging Govee for having a ordinary shaped bulb, I was just pointing it out. Besides true white and ordinary bulbs, what are you looking for?
@@ModernDayTech Color changing, with patterns I can set up, works with HomeKit.

There is a way to do the white lights. It has something to do with the app vs the hub

12:10 Turn the clip so the open part is up, not down. Holds perfectly.

That's the old version of the govee lights. They have come out with 1 or 2 new versions since the version shown.
Their new ones are not better.
Nice video cheers
Thank you! Cheers!
What exactly is “Firder do”?
huh?
wouldnt trust one i cant replace the bulbs on
Just don't try and make a warranty claim on your LIFX
