600 divided by 14 days divided by 10ppl is around $4.30 per person for a day. That is amazing to feed someone for less than $5 for one meal a day, much less 2-3 meals a day. Awesome job. Also hope my math is correct bc I didn’t double check. My second grade teacher would be shaking her head😂
But you didn't factor in that this isn't actually everything they will eat. Most of the meat they will eat isn't part of this grocery bill because they buy in bulk/raise some of their own meat and eggs I believe. And right now meat is sooo expensive so it would be way more.

I am always amazed. When my kids were at home, I bought 6 gallons of milk a WEEK! And, I’m lactose intolerant, so I would only have some in baked recipes.
I did the math and you're spending about $88 per person per week. We spend around $65 per week per person. I bet the only difference is that you buy more red meat than us. We're just two people who live in the city, so many cost-saving options aren't an option for us (no freezer chest, no garden space, no u-picks). Food is just plain expensive, so the only way to cut down costs while still maintaining nutrition for us is to have mostly chicken for protein. Chicken is getting expensive too, though... Used to be

Start with making a list of go-to meals. Something quick thay you always have ingredients on hand for. This will set you up for nights you don't want to cook. You can do this month to month to make sure it's used up in a timely manner. The next step I took to cut our bill is to buy meats, fruits and veggies, and plant milks (we can't have dairy). Everything else we bought some of and chose to figure out how to make it or process it ourselves. For example: condiments.

@@kennedysapp9242 agreed they have small children so they definitely need more snacks and treats . The Bells are all teens and most of them have jobs already too
Prices vary with location, so don't judge two families with similar or the same number of children. Their needs can be very different as well. The time they have to make meals varies. This other family you're referring to has smaller children. Smaller children are very wasteful despite trying to teach them otherwise. Adults (in general) are more mindful of not wasting things (in this case, food).
@little desires Dougherty Dozen they're wasteful the kids are now overweight bc she feeds them so much junk. They don't eat that food she makes on that channel. It's a lie. She's been exposed
Yes, AND? Isn’t that definitely irrelevant? There’s absolutely nothing wrong w/ keeping your children loved, healthy & fed. The real gamechanger in grocery shopping is going for the staples and avoiding processed foods as much as possible becouse they charge you even up to 5 times more than what you'd need to spend for the ingredients to make it yourself, so even if you have a coupon it's still not a good deal if you still can make it from scratch at half or third of the discounted price. Then there's stuff that is pricy like meats. If I cann't find meat at the right price... I just grab a whole chicken and carve it up at home in 10 minutes and I have 2-3 meat portions for 4 people + skin and bones for the broth (another dish) and sometimes when I'm not making soup, that handful of meat that gets off the bones... it ends up in an appetizer...
