    As it sets just give it a spray of water, a light spray of water and that would probably keep it from cracking too quickly. Great work.

    You could have used aluminum powder as a filler. If you use like 50% aluminum powder, 50% resin you can apparently approximate the look and feel of aluminum pretty well.

    Question: do you think a sander's vibration on work surface would help when applying the putty to help with air bubbles and getting better texture off of original?

    The Space Wars behind you reminded me that Outerworldarcade.com is working on a ROM mod that adds AI to it and makes it one-player playable against the computer, I think he's calling it "Space Wars Deluxe", should be pretty cool when it's finished. You're probably already aware of that website but the guy's a genius when it comes to modding vectors, he's also selling repro sound boards for some Cinematronics games like Sundance and Warrior. And no, I don't know the guy and not shamelessly plugging a friend's website :p

    • @ArcadeJason
      @ArcadeJason  6 лет назад +1

      Andrew Tornadoboy very very interesting I did Know about the repro sound boards but not the space wars mod I'd love to get a copy when it's done

      @joesmoe71 6 лет назад

      Thanks but I'm all set, I don't have either game, though I did once have a Boot Hill for a while but that's long gone too.
      Here's a really dumb question, do you think it would be possible to adapt a B&W Cinematronics game like Star Castle etc to work on more common monitors like those in Asteroids? Those Cinematronics monitors are rare, expensive and break like they were built by satan himself.

    • @ArcadeJason
      @ArcadeJason  6 лет назад +1

      Andrew Tornadoboy yes absolutely!!!! But an adapter PCB would need to be made it would need to have 2 dac80s and some op amps which would require speacial voltages not to mention the Atari monitor would require it own power brick

  • @101Osprey101
    @101Osprey101 6 лет назад

    Why didn't you just start with some aluminum bar stock and have it cut to shape? A file would have rounded the edges nice. Seems like a lot less effort than trying to cast it.

    • @ArcadeJason
      @ArcadeJason  6 лет назад +1

      i don't have any metal working tools and i didn't wanna pay hundreds of bucks to have someone else do it that would have been a really short vid too lol

    • @101Osprey101
      @101Osprey101 6 лет назад

      Man. I have so many fabricators, blacksmiths, powder coaters and body shops nearby, I use them as much as possible. I bet you would have been surprised at how cheap someone could have made that. A piece that size is scrap. Granted, the video would have been much shorter.... lol
      I make signs, banner vehicle graphics and whatnot. Doing the signs has helped me contact any and every fabricator around. Make friends with some. It is well worth it when you need shit done. :)

    • @ArcadeJason
      @ArcadeJason  6 лет назад

      i had the control panel made it cost me $500 i was thinking it would cost some crazy amount as well but yeah it should be just a piece of scrap

    • @101Osprey101
      @101Osprey101 6 лет назад

      500! Holy crap! You need to buddy up to some fabrication guys. ;) I have had so many things done for free. Paint jobs, powder coating, metal lathe work, plasma cutting, steel fabrication, welding, etc. Check my channel for the flight controls I was making and if I can ever help, hit me up. I ask anyone and everyone when I need help. I even had Richie Knucklez donate the gauge on my Turbo!

      @@ArcadeJason $500!!!! Totally disgusted. I am a metal fabricator by trade. If you have blue prints or a sample to work from- your CP can be produced for way cheaper over here in Cleveland. For a 1 off like that probably $100

    • @ArcadeJason
      @ArcadeJason  7 лет назад

      yes you are right i thought of using wood but i was afraid of dents epoxy is much stronger and dent resistant

    • @tracycampbell4526
      @tracycampbell4526 6 лет назад

      That was my first thought as well, but mdf, or any wood probably wouldn't hold up as well. You could probably use 3/4 plastic sheet. To buy the sheet would be a little more expensive than your method, but you may be able to pick up scrap pieces for small projects.
