My dad collected coins in the 60s when we were kids. He had all the war nickels it seemed. I think my younger brothers got into them and spent them around 1970. He was incensed. Today I found a 43P nickel in my change. I noticed it was old. Then saw 1943 and thought how cool. Then saw the mint mark P on the back. Dad died about 3 years ago so I took this as a sign from him to keep writing my stories. I am working on trying to write some short stories or even a book.
@@robertscarbroughCoinsHeritage Auction told me face value $0.15 cents, probably you have to pay the price $$40-50 dollars and they will grade your coin, perhaps worth $15.00 .
Back in the 1970s I got several of these wartime nickels in change from vending machines. I knew they were different in some way but I wasn't quite sure how. They were old though. I still have them.
I absolutely love your video s and I am trying to educate my friend . You make me feel like I m at least trying and I appreciate your time . Thank you for that.
I got change back at a gas station and the coins looked new and I looked at the dates and the nickel was a 1940. It looks like it's new, not like the old 1940 nickel we normally see. Would it be worth anything?
I have a 1943 nickel with the p on the back, BUT! where it says E PLURIBUS UNUM the US on pluribus was not stamp correctly, like the stamping dye was worn out. Any idea on price?very good condition.
I have a 1943 P with a die crack running from north down through the P. The crack stops on the top of the roof of the Monticello. Found it in some change.
I save all my coins and even older paper currency. That was around when I was growing up. A customer came to the restaurant with a older $20 dollar bill, and the hostess/server is like 15 or 16 years old. She's like, I think it's fake. My old ass said u probably never seen this type of 20 bill in your life. So I gave her a current one versus the older one. My pops used to have all kinds of older currency when I was growing up. Maybe I'm turning into my pops lol
Even my twin sister laughingly calls me old man turning into our father. My father is pretty awesome, I'd love to be just like him. He's been married to my beautiful mother since 1966 so I would love to be like him
I found one of these today. I don't actually collect coins, but finding out what makes these nickels so different and their history is definitely worth it and fun. Don't you ever wonder what this coin has been through in its lifetime? Who's pockets it was in, where did it travel to, etc.
Hey big d do you known anything about war time nickel that do not have any silver in it.i have 52 war nickel and all of them have silver in them.i do have a 1944-P that have no silver in it. Do you know anything about this?
Great Video, thanks for posting it. I have been trying to find a channel that has a Beginners Guide of what nickles to quickly look in a first scan . #1 First Scan: What older Decades should I keep? From which date Back? and why? #1a What other newer Dates should I set aside not in those older Decades? #2 Second scan: What coins should I look for from the first scan? and why? #3 What should I do with the Bulk left overs that are not keeper dates from the Keeper Decades? #4 The non keepers that go back to the bank , should I re-roll them up or take them back loose?
I have a 43 absolutely prestine. After scoping no polishing at all. Around 3 and 4th pillar rt to left looks like alil cud at the bottom. Could this be step material. The back does have a weak strike. Looks brand new. What should I do with this if any ideas.
Many years ago I received a 1943 P in very good condition and I’ve taken care of it for the past 50 years because it looks like it must be nearly all Copper . I saw a coin talk show on line that was saying there was an error1943 P that is nearly all copper and the reason they changed the metals in the war nickels was to Not have the copper in them becausecopper was the most needed war time metal and went on to say a copper 1943P error would be worth up to $100,000.00 in good condition. Mine is In Very Good Condition and nearly all Copper. I’d like to sell it at an auction or outright. What should I do or who should I contact to sell it.
Youre information is correct. They are a transitional error, and I believe the most valuable of these nickels. One sold at auction in November, for $11,100., the asking price was $20,000., but he needed the cash. Today he says he gave it away, and at $20,000. It was a steal. Yes I have one too, the condition is not as important as in most cases, its the rarity. But you've got a good condition one, it could bring real money! Good luck. Also, Ive seen it for sale at $50,000..... in used condition!
How much is a 1943 P nickel worth that has the 1943 double stamped? I have one and used my magnifier and i noticed the date looked like it was stamped twice like jeffersons eye
What about the 1942 P nickel. I got one that's black, green and yellow. With the P on the reverse side. Is it valuable? How much not graded. It's a silver nickel
I have twenty 1970 s Pennie’s, don’t know if I have a small s but I do know that six of them have a high s near the 9, the other 14 Pennie’s have an S much further away from the 9. I am wondering if I have the rare Pennie’s so I can go searching for a new auto & hamburger, oh yea a female! 🤪

Are really worn V nickels worth anything? You can read the date but the rest of the obverse is pretty worn down. What about dateless Buffalo Nickels - any value? Thanks for all the wonderful information.
I actually just found a wartime nickle with a D mark on it, but it is so shiny it almost looks fake. It seems kind of silly to make a fake coin but I'm just a novice at this collecting game name and I'm not sure what length people will go to too.
Great topic however you should have talked about the most valuable war time nickel error. There were a few copper nickel planchettes that got mixed in with the 35% Silver 1943 P planchettes ! This rare error can make a well circulated war time nickel worth 10 to 30 thousand and a MS 60 worth $75 + thousand ! They both weigh 5 grams but the silver nickel will be darker (blueish) tint to it. So overall the non silver coin will have a lighter grey appearance.
I am a collector bv of my grandfather, he was WWII & was everywhere BUT thank you for saying the words "bluish" color. I have been searching for anyone that can tell me what I have. 1943 P over Monticello, it is the only coin I've ever seen with this coloring. Gray bluish if you move it a certain way and it's much lighter in weight than any other nickle I've had. I think I could possibly have "THE" coin you're talking about. I was expecting more information on this.
I have that war nickle 1943P I sent a photo of it to Heritage Auctions and the reply was it has face value. 😮😮 it hadn’t been graded, I don’t believe in that crap that puts money into there pockets, I didn’t mention errors, but is it really necessary to get graded to get a higher cost from the graders to increase value of the coin?
what camera setup do you use.... microscope, lcd...etc... good camera with lens connected to usb to a laptop??? would love to see your setup. Thanks, ...
Fun fact - that olive ‘wreath‘ surrounding much of the Roman numeral V (5) represents the rings of Saturn which in antiquity was greatly revered and worshipped. Saturn was much more prominent in the sky back then and ancient Romans celebrated it with an annual holiday of Saturnalia, a very special day where everyone became equal in society no matter your race creed or societal standings..even today this ‘wreath’ can be found around the United Nations globe logo and Saturn is quietly but prominently represented through much of today’s corporate logos including but not limited to...Boeing, Nissan, AAA, Nike, directv, capitalone, Toyota, internet explorer, NASA, whirlpool, kenmore, Kia, dish network, and countless others.. its truly fascinating the sheer amount of influence this plays on today’s society. And even more intriguing is that most are completely unaware of it! Search RUclips for Saturn Symbolism.. it is also represented as a cube..tons of other corporate logos also (Samsung GameCube Xbox, etc)!
