Would you recommend buying Aoostar Gem 10 with the occulink 4 bay m.2 extension as a NVME NAS?? They don't have any deals on black friday but their pricing is really good especially in comparison to the CPU performance, and want to pull the plug on it.
Synology emailed yesterday to say "We have amazing discounts starting 25th November on selected Synology NAS models and our WRX560 WiFi-6 router.", they list partners to buy from; Amazon, Broadband buyer, Scan, Ebuyer, laptops direct & box
Do you have a recommendation for case that can hold ATX mobo and hot swap HDDs? I want to upgrade my machine and use the older parts to upgrade my current NAS.
As odd as they sound, I kinda like that they are there. Hopefully they can voice match down the road. It's still in beta at YT, so hopefully this is the start of something more established down the road
@@nascomparesI've tried after seeing these comments under your video. I'm Italian, not bothered by English speaking, but curious the same. I mean, it's impressive and usable, not the worst thing seen on RUclips lately.
Grabbed the F4-424 Pro a week or so ago since Amazon Canada already moved some on a Limited Time Deal. Ironwolf 4TBs are holding at $124.99 CAD, so I'll probably grab 2 to go with my existing 1 and populate my NAS after I get it setup with the OS on my (yet to arrive) SSD. I'm irritated that certain things I'd _like_ are gated behind Amazon Prime for this Black Friday though; _huge_ turnoff for any impulse purchasing when I see that already.
Thanks for doing this vid. Almost bought an SSD for read only cache for my Synology on impulse but your 3 years old video helped me avoided the unnecessary purchase as it’s not relevant for my use case. But I bought a 20TB WD external HDD for hyperbackup 😂
Tbh it's mainly because RUclips analytics tell me a larger portion of the viewership is U.S based. I do try to stick to general currency terms or even add £ and Euro at points, but without elongating points sometimes, my hands are a bit tied and I have to pick the one that most viewers are using. Same as RUclips channels in France that speak in English
Very disappointed with Asustor 'Black Friday' prices - specifically the FlashStor 12 Pro - Gen 1 & Gen 2. Have gone with a TerraMaster F8 SSD Plus model instead.
Is there something similar to the TS-1655 but with a cpu that has an igpu? That form factor is essentially what I'd love. Brand doesn't very much matter to me
Looking at DS420+ vs. DS920+ vs DS923+ vs DS423+ for iPhone Photos (12,000), 1440p video and General 4 PC backups. Which unit would be best bang for buck anyone able to shed some light?
@@nascompares ARC Loader for Synology DSM works wonders with those NAS from Terramaster. A game changer! Thinking of getting the F4-424 Pro, doing the same DSM with ARC Loader. It just works, its so nice, great hardware needs great software! PS - You should make a video about that! ARC Loader on other NAS hardware!
Thank you. Appreciated. Black Friday videos and channel fundraising IS important, but id be lying if I said I was always 100% comfortable with it. Videos like this one are different. Way, WAY more advisory and I'm way on board for this. Cheers for the feedback
Hm. If there are tariffs to the US, there is a good chance that the prices in Europe will go down. Because the produced goods have to go somewhere. So prices will probably get under pressure.
Thanks for the heads up. I really want RUclips's new ai voice over beta to work - as network data tech is an already tough enough subject for many users..but not at the risk of me sounding like poultry!
This was a FANTASTIC video for a LOT of reasons. But the "2 vs. 4 bay" bit was Unexpectedly Helpful. Thanks! 👍🏾
I think this is VERY good advice except when it isn't. And you will know when it isn't.
"Only buy stuff you need." 🙂Get a 4 bay so you can add on drives later. indeed!

If Seagate Ironwolf Pro and Exos have the same price, which one should I buy for my home DIY Nas?
Thanks, but I suspect that, as per usual, Black Friday will be a "non event" here in Australia.
Thanks for publishing this this is precisely the video that I didn't know I needed before the upcoming holiday!
Happy turkey holiday bud!
I use a separate encryption technique locally before backing things up to the cloud.

Will be sure to do most of my purchases by January 20. Post Christmas, before inauguration.
Holy, that auto translated voice is creepy stuff.

How can we turn it off? Its terrible!
In central Europe Amazon dictated that Black Friday has already started. Deals for Hardware are worse than ever.

You can run a script to allow it to become compatible
*what he said*! Bit also, keep in mind that the scripts can be undone by semi major os updates, so keep an eye on them
I'm confused, why are prices being quoted in Dollars on a UK channel?

WD has two 22TB for $699.98. I just picked up two 24TB there last week for $687, so this is an even better $/TB deal
What about here in Australia where can we find really good websites that have all the deals for NAS
Can someone provide a link to that list of Cloud Storage Providers? I assume that's a list of current "sales".
Outstanding information! Thanks for this PSA. You're a gem.

Tbh, have you looked at the zimacube pro? That's the nearest compact tiered solution I can think of that is Intel Core based
Love these, thanks for sharing.

A raid is not a backup but you said “at your peril” for raid zero in the Ugreen user guide vid
F2-424 was a good deal. Put DSM on it and enjoy!
YOU MAVERICK!

UK Amazon must be missing some of the early deals, here the TS-464 is down to $470

Wd has 2 14tb gold drives for 450 dollars
I switched to japanese - and it's hilarious :D
I won't lie...this comment made my F-ing night! Thanks man
How can I disable the German voice? It sounds like Donald Duck. 🙂
Found it. ;-)

all still overpriced and under-resourced
I sent you an email. Thanks for these info-videos
