I used to think there was no more beautiful dressage horse than Vallegro. Glamourdale, in my estimation is absolutely perfect and drop dead gorgeous. And Lottie Fry makes being graceful and elegant while riding him look like so easy. This is a magnificent team. Just flippin' amazing.

Glamourdale carries his head so well naturally when walking and looks so uncomfortable when overbent

Yea, sadly I see her riding him a lot behind the vertical, which is uncomfortable and stressful for a horse. Sadly, a lot of dressage riders ride this way thinking their horses r comfortable when they aren't. The goal and definition of dressage has changed so much over the years. It went from something that was supposed to be fluid, comfortable, and non forceful, to something that became harsh, forceful, uncomfortable, and stressful for horses. This is y I've leaned more towards liberty work because it is so much more natural for a horse to do.

@@azariasewell5655 not too many of us are in agreement sadly . it is perfectly possible to ride with a light contact and still achieve collection but takes more time and effort.

It's not because he is a stallion it is because the way the rider is riding him. This horse is a poor drooling mess right now because of the rider. So many think a horse foaming/drooling at the mouth is safe or good, when in reality it isn't, especially when saliva is pouring/dangling from their mouth. The more saliva u see the more stress ur horse is under. It happens from a horse switching between two nervous system responses called the Sympathetic nervous system response and the parasympathetic nervous system response. The licking and chewing is what a horse does to relax/calm themselves from a stressful situation. When a horse is doing this it's from stress and being uncomfortable. She is constantly pulling his head behind the vertical and overbending the horse's neck. It cause certain muscle in the neck of a horse to over-develop and swell. This also makes a horse lose 10% to 12% of their breathing capacity. Another thing is it also causes them to not receive a riders aids properly. Also, it makes it harder for them to perform certain moves, especially lateral movements. They can't perform a forward active tempo or engage in their hindend properly when ridden this way. Yes some horses might look like they r comfortable or the rider might think they r fine and comfortable when in reality the horses r stressed, uncomfortable, and irritated because of the rider.

I'm always amazed what horses still perform, although they are clearly mistreated like in this case. At 04:50 it is clearly to see that Glamourdale is fighting against the rider's hard grip. Before he already is spitting all over the place and on himself. Especially with black horses you can see that very clearly and I'm always wondering why judges don't think that's ugly and clearly no sign of good riding and don't punish that in their judgements. Also one can see very clearly that the horse is moving it's lower lip all the time and showing it's teeth because it wants to escape the rider's hand. It's just really really not a pleasant sight.

"spitting all over the place" is called chewing and licking and when a horse chews and licks it means he is concentrating and thinking. It is not a bad thing, it is not a resistant thing. Every dressage rider wants a horse that is thinking and concentrating on what is being asked of them. It is only horses that in addition to beautiful confirmation suited to their sport also have willing minds and hearts that rise to these heights.

Theres No Reason for him to be Completely FROTHING chest, all over when she hasn't even Started, THATS PAIN EXPRESSION. Thats why he fights with her. Horses dont fight you when they are completely trained, if they enjoy your riding. Poor Boy.😢

Is it his bit that’s causing the pain, is she holding him in to tight? I don’t know a lot about this sport, I see him mouthing the bit. I am a trail rider, never have I had a problem like this. I would love your opinion.

Bad training, horse that is risen wit to much tension...because the rider does not have a deep understanding of horse biomechanics, muscles involved in every single movement.... Just to name a few... Dressage is more than wearing a beautiful outfit...

I absolutely love Glamourdale, he is a beautiful stallion, but I can't say I feel the same for Charlotte Fry. I can't stand her riding style. Always riding btv, which is not comfortable for a horse or particularly safe for them. It also complicates a lot of moves they have to do when they r ridden behind the vertical. I wouldn't have a problem with dressage if they took the force out of it, and quit letting riders get away with horrible riding skills and techniques.

Yeah like hanging on the curb rein. The double bridle is ridiculous. Horses at this level should be capable to do what they do in a simple French link loose ring snaffle.

@allisonm6622 Watch his mouth the entire test. He has such a busy mouth in an unpleasant way, and in the half pass gets fed up and tries to yank his head away. That isn't poor behavior, that's a horse trying to ask to not be so suppressed in the face and neck. He's an absolutely stunning horse and she's an otherwise quiet rider, but she definitely need to get off his face so much.

Riding a horse behind the vertical is just wrong, no matter the discipline. It’s wrong for the development, welfare, longevity of the horse. Proven scientifically riding btv reduces the horses breathing capacity by 10%. I wonder if Ms Fry would like hers reduced by 10% during strenuous exercise? Not pleasant to watch, not to mention the flailing heels digging her spurs in nonstop! Excellent animal in that he hasn’t thrown her ass off yet in public! 😂

    • @myronschabe

Please give the timestamps for when this horse is behind the vertical...I have seen plenty of horses being mistreated and behind the vertical but I do not see it in this test - he looks exactly vertical imo. He is a little tense but he also shows signs of relaxation and focus, he is not swishing his tail and he does not look really irritated...yes, there is that one time he is noticably...for all we know something got twisted or what have you...we don't really know, as well he is a stallion.
Are there some terrible things happening out there in the dressage world, yes...I don't think this duo is in that category.
