I love it that you’ve got mega infrastructure for this tank! And it’ll be really interesting to see how it all fills in. The sump is looking good, nice Chaeto mat you’ve got there. 👍🏻👍🏻 So great to see an update!
This is really cool - Thanks for sharing. One question, how did the bristletooth tang workout in this tank. I'm thinking about a tomini tang for my 40b but every one says I need at least a 75g.
He did great in this tank. I have since moved him into my 180 gallon tank and shut this one down. I have both a square tail bristle tooth tang, and a Tomini tang in there now. In my case, the Tomini tang did get larger, and the bristle tooth has still stayed small. Maybe they grow slower? In any case, if you get a small one, it should be good for a while, but they are active swimmers and like lots of space.
Dang, man - this is one GREAT looking tank. Beautiful.. and I'm not even into corals. If it weren't for the chemistry science and cost I'd love a tank like yours. Awesome vid btw. Thanks!
Honestly, it doesn't need to be this complicated. You can start out much simpler and cheaper. I'm just having fun and seeing what happens when i go all out.
Nice update! The tank is looking really nice! The RBPi seems to be coming along nicely! Any plans to bring it to market? Also, keep me posted regarding the new lighting fixture. I've been thinking about getting one but, have seen mannnnnyyyyy reviews saying that the outlets where the bulbs actually connect, ended up melting and the bulbs were never able to be taken out. That worries me but, I would love to add some T5's to my tank. Thanks for sharing my man and hope all is well!
Thanks man. Still a lot of work to do before even thinking about something like that. lol. I'll keep my eye on the connectors. This is the newer model of the light, so hopefully they corrected it, but I guess we'll see.
That issue was corrected with a gen1 revision. You just had to heat the bulb(run it a few min) and they would come out np. I use a zip tie around the bulb to help pull them out easier.
Hope things are going well! Looking forward to an update on everything, i know its been a while but simply wanted to stop in and see if there was anything new :)
@ReefSpy what return pump do you use? also if i wanted to get a different pump about what gph do you recommend? also, ive looked all over the internet for "glassholes" cant find it. did they perhaps go out of business or am i not looking hard enough?
sadly, I think Glassholes went out of business. It is a shame because they made good overflows. I am only using a maxi-jet 1200 pump for the return. Some people like to go with very big return pumps, but this small pump seems to give enough turnover for my 40 gallon tank. It is rated at 295 gallons per hour. even if it is only giving 160-200 GPH that is still 4-5x turnover through the sump per hour.
Its nothing special. I am using an MJ1200 at the moment. It is doing the job. Would like to replace with something else at some point, but had it laying around, so putting it to some use.
Lmao!! What the hell do you have connected to that thing!! You DONT NEED 90% of That Stuff. Omg!!! You made ReefN look sooooo hard for Beginners. Bro stop it. You have gone insane. 🤣😂🤣🤦🏻♂️
I remember being terrified once watching this video long time ago 😂😂
If anything, you made me feel better about my. Wire management.
lol
so glad you posted, looks kind of mad scientist there but I like it!
lol, thanks

Glad to see you back! Love the ingenuity on making your own controller...mad props amigo 👏👏👏
Awesome work on that Pi.. can’t wait to see how the tank does
thanks, guess we'll see what happens now!
You do nice work

Fingers crossed! What did you end up spending on the fixture?

This looks like a cluster fuck to me...lol.
You have to hide this equipment.Thats the main reason why we have sumps, so we can hide skimmers, heaters etc...
You wrote the UI yourself? Look's and functions better than GHL's
I did Mr. BRS Winner. thanks for stopping by!
Great Update 😎👍🏾
All that looks like a fire hazard!
Merci pour cette vidéo !!! 👍👍👍
Do you have a auto water change system? I think that would be the best thing to give you long term stability.
I don't, but it would be nice to add some day.
Love natural look reefs. Once the frag rock is out of there or swapped out for something else....
💜👍

@@ReefSpy dang thats a bummer for the overflow. thank you for the help!
Do you use the smart ato micro on this tank as well?
Yes
wow....lol, the equipment setup seems to be exactly opposite of what most folks aim for. What a cluster fawk lol
Miss watching your Channel. Hope you're doing okay!
Hey. Thanks for checking in. I’m still here. Just taking a little break. I’ll be back soon.
Maybe you mentioned it but what return pump did you use ?

I was thinking of using the Jebao dcp 3500
Those barnacle blennies are so fast when eating!
I know, they are little speed demons
This isn’t a 40 gallon breeder this is way bigger a 40 gallon isn’t a 4’ foot tank like this one ☝️
