💡What is your go-to LUT for color grading? Why?
What does EI - 400 mean?
@veezybombay, EI is the Exposure Index. So with the FX30, it's a bit different when filming with other cameras since it's a cinema camera, and I had that same question myself the first time I got the camera. So basically I treat it like an ISO when I change it (that's only so I won't be confused when filming). First, I set the base ISO to 800 or 2500 depending on the lighting conditions, and will only touch it if I'll change locations, either outdoors or indoors, and then this is where the Exposure Index comes in. I adjust it accordingly to get a cleaner image. The lower the EI value the cleaner it gets. I hope this makes sense. That's a great question and thank you for asking!
@@BernieHipos oh okay! Thanks for clarifying that. Where do I find this option? I’ve only just got the fx30 two days ago, so I’m brand new to the cinema camera coming from the a6400 & it’s such a massive upgrade I’m loving the 10 BIT! 😍. My only problem is, noise. I’m sticking with the 800-2500 ISO, and adjusting the aperture accordingly as well as trying to expose to the right 1.3-1.7/2.0 but it’s still so noisy. I tested in low light and light. What am I doing wrong 😭, I have to film next week for a pretty big project and I’m getting worried lol. I’ve always shot in HLG because of the 8Bit and never had noise problems.
I’m considering shooting in S-Cine, using your tip / adjustment but I want to conquer slog 3 because the dynamic range is amazing.
@@veezybombay, no worries at all! So EI can be found beside the exposure compensation where you adjust from 1.3 to 2.0, (about the middle bottom of the LCD screen). Just a reminder to choose your base ISO first, leave it, and adjust the EI value accordingly. You can adjust it by rotating the back dial with your thumb to lessen the noise or to eliminate it completely. Once you're used to adjusting it, you'll love S-Log3 even more. You can try it with 4K 60p and 120fps if you can, and you'll notice the difference. If it's a dark scene, just set the base ISO to 2500 and adjust the EI value to the lowest setting of 640. I only use S-Cinetone nowadays for some quick shots that I don't need to color grade, but for my passion projects and paid gigs, it's S-Log3 all the way. Have a blast filming and good luck!
