I got an 18k gold filled Cuban link chain. Worth the price because 5 years later it looks great! Never had any problems with it. Rain, snow, dry weather. I’d recommend cleaning it 2-4 times a year. I also put beard oil on my chain after cleaning and wipe off the excess.
Thank you for super informative video .Being an Asian, gold jewelry has always been the go to jewelry for me and from my personal experience. 22 K is good for everyday use, 24 K is purest but is quite delicate .
I am have got lots of 22k gold jewellery ( bought them before my wedding). Currently, I have 3 gold diamond rings , pendants, bracelets , bangles. I do my household chores 24/7. It's been almost 7 years & they still look so beautiful and sparkly when I clean them 😊 ! I think buying 22k gold is a great investment if you can buy ! And if you sell them off , they will give you a good sum of money 💰
Glad to see the honest review of Mejuri - they seem way overpriced for plated items, yet all the paid influencers seem to say the stuff never tarnishes (same for Ana Luisa etc)! Also - 9k gold (37.5%) is the most common here in the UK
I agree. Mejuri seems overpriced for what it is. However, they do rep themselves as an ethical brand, which is great if that is true. A lot of the people i see that love Mejuri also have affiliate codes from them, so it is hard to find a 100% honest review on the quality and value of what you actually get. Most of their jewelery is not solid gold and the pieces are hollow. For comparison a solid gold dime-sized pendant on Mejuri is around $450, whilst on other sites, it is no more than $350 for an even larger pendant in solid gold
Catbird is good for real gold but the items are pretty dainty so you’re not getting a lot for the money, but it is quality. I wear my necklaces and rings 24/7 except for when I clean them, and they definitely hold up.
Thank you for clearing this up, I was so confused 😅 I’m glad that I waited before investing in vermeil: thanks to you it’s become obvious it’s not what I’m after!
24k is alot more durable than people think. I have three 24k chains and have worn one for over 3 years now 24/7 with very little to no noticeable wear. My wedding band is made out of a 22k American Gold Eagle and is also very durable. American jewelry stores sell 10k and 14k because they make more money selling those than they would 22k or 24k. They lie to you and say 22k+ gold is too soft but thats just not true.
@@b-b8704 I've never heard about it being hard to work with. I think for the long term though 22k would probably be the better choice. You still have high purity gold but adding that 8% copper & silver alloy really strengthens the chain. I'll probably buy a new chain this summer and either get a 60 gram 24K chain or a similar weight 22K chain if I can find one at a fair price.
I love your video, especially the way you explain things! I just subscribed to you rn. Just to add a little more info for people who are just starting, you can also get 18K gold jewelries (even 21/22k) for a slightly lower price when you get it per gram. :) and yes, the resale value is way higher!!
I recently ordered a custom gold plated 925 silver dragon chain for a little under two grand. A sold gold version would have had a six figure price tag and so I am still satisfied with my purchase.
Thank you so much. I like gold jewelry. I am thinking about where to buy gold jewelry. I found your video. Thank you so much. Learning from you about gold experience and shop. Please make more videos about Best gold shop. It's hard to find, not easy, like very this or drop pearl so many problems. Thank you. Love your video
Nice content. I am now also starting to build my jewelry collection and I have watched A LOT of videos. None where so informative as this was. I am just missing one piece of information and is the colour. Does it change from 14K to 18k? if so; is it very noticeable? Kind regards from a Spaniard in the Netherlands
Hey babe! Thank you so much for the feedback. I appreciate it lots!! ❤️ And yes, there is a difference in color! The less gold content you have, the less orangey gold toned it is. So 14k is more like a yellow gold color while 18k will be actually a warmer gold color.
Can you answer if a good gold filled necklace can be worn out in how much time, means how many months or years? Plz reply as I'm about to be married nd I need to know
mejuri have a 2 year warranty so you could maybe return the earrings or get a replacement pair, could have been badly made, i know that their peices normally last a lot longer than 2 months
She left 22k gold. Actually 24k isn't really suitable to make any jwellery as its too soft. I have seen my friend's ring flattened when she played handball. But 22k is used these days to make jwellery, although still not suitable to hold diamond.
Hello chicka. I hope you are keeping warm and stayin in good health. I just came across this vid just now. And I really want to thank you for takin the time outta your day to record and post this super informative video. I learned quite a bit from it. But was wonderin if maybe you might could do another vid like this but with silver maybe? I just never did like the way gold looks on me, it looks lovely on others tho. So I'm a silver fan. But I'm highly allergic to nickel and every kind of jewelry that says hypoallergenic or nickel- free. I'm still kinda hopeful that maybe there actually is some kind of belt buckle metal that won't make me look like I got small pox after wearing for 2 mins. Same with earrings and everything. Apparently sterling silver or surgical steel are the only kinds of jewelry that doesn't bother me one bit. Super tired of paracord braiding my own belts with plastic buckles. I CAN'T be the only one with these kinda metal issues. But you seem like prob the only person out there that can break down the understanding of what is made with what and how much of each content in each to where I can actually get it. If you aren't able to do a vid like that then no worries. No pressure. I'm so thankful to've come across this vid so that I can help the ones around me. I really appreciate you and I hope you have the best of Holidays!!

I perferred 18 and 24k Asian only. 14k to me the color looks too light and less value then 18 and 24k when resale. You can find 24k it's available in Asian jewelry stores. Most Asian only wear 18 and 24k because the of the gold. I brought some plated ones just for experience. Let see how long it last lol. However I do take care of it. I don't take shower with it nor in contact with faucet water. Will find out....lol
Totally agree! Real gold will last a lifetime whilst gold plated will eventually wear off. It’s worth the investment. Gold has good resale value and if you don’t like the piece of jewelry anymore you can always take it to a jeweler and get a new piece created for you using/melting the gold from your old one.
Aww I’m glad this helps! It really depends on what you want out of your gold jewelry. I’ve shopped at Skin Studio jewelry for gold-filled pieces, Cendre and Nejim for 18k plated on sterling silver, and Missoma for chunky pieces. Definitely read the product description when shopping! ☺️
Hello How Can You Tell of each? Is there like a test I can do? I’m planning to start a Jewelry Business and i’m still looking for a supplier from Alibaba... what kind of gold accessories do you recommend selling? What does it mean when a store says “18k Gold plating” 😂
@@paulinenguyen No problem, your information was helpful as well. Many jewelers have different practices based on region/country or whatever. But this basic overview was awesome!
Very interesting. I live in israel and gold filled has been popular here for over 10 years. It's everywhere and much cheaper here than online. Gold itself is cheaper than I see online too, and we commonly use 14k or 18k.
Gold vermeil is the WORST. I bought with 3 necklaces and 2 sets of earrings from meijuri that were all gold vermeil and after 2.5 years of VERY LIGHT wear and proper storage and wiping, all 3 of my necklaces have black patches and 1 of my earring have black patches. So very disappointed. For the price point of gold vermeil, it is not worth it. Gold plated is much cheaper but solid gold lasts.

All you need to do for tarnished gold is just wipe them! They are just oxidized. Mine is shiny again after I wipes them ❤

18k is fine for daily wear if earrings or necklace where scratching and denting are less likely than on hands or feet.
