Emi is so cute Terry...... you are blessed to have a grandchild that loves to work with her Grandpa, especially these days with so much distractions. Your Daughter/Son is doing a fantastic job raising EMI...... well done. - Ron
So sad that White's ceased operation in Sweet Home Oregon and Garrets acquired Whites. White was always better than Garrets and now they are gone. All due to COVID 19 Impact. It is good to see people like myself are still buying the vintage Whites Detectors and keeping them operating after decades. I own several and Garrets has agreed to serve Whites Customers needs in parts and service but how far back is not known. This video was extremely helpful, thank you.
These two are fun to watch ,hope she stays with it.whites detectors very nice brand .she has a good teacher.some day she will probably show up the boys.
Best video on youtube...wisdom and love here folks. Why do we NEVER see grandparents pouring into grandkids, its like our culture is so screwed up there are no grandparents! This is how life used to be...beautiful video!!! Love it...inspiring and excellent teaching!!! Such a cute little girl and pride of grandpa
Excellent video, Terry. Emi is a very lucky young lady to have someone like yourself to help her learn. She is a really good student and you are a really good teacher. Thanks for sharing with us. 73 DE K7RMJ Frank
Way to go Emi! Keep Pop-pop on his toes. ;) Terri, it is great to see how much Emi loves to be around you and all your boat anchor stuff. The best part of it all is that you are showing her NOT to be afraid of all the stuff we use and how to logically think through the troubleshooting process. It gives her an even more rounded advance over most kids her age. Keep it up and hope to see many more years of D-Lab and Emi / Shortwave Girl. (Let's not leave out grandma / Marcia! :) )
You two are a crack up.😂 It helps learn. Electric-tron did great on this project. Once see learns how this work generates income Terry, Emily is going to push you over for the jobs.
Great job Emi you will remember these special times with your grandpa years down the road. Have a great time discovering something new everyday. Cheers, #SeattleRingHunter
I have this unit,( among other vintage models I've picked up). MD is definitely my main hobby but I've recently wanted to get into older radios, etc. and picked a couple those up recently to play with. I watched several of your vids on day off today...Subbed!
Hi thankyou for sharing this. I found a used one these. They said to give her a fair price on it .now i now how too test it and check it . Me and my sister are getting into medal detecting .this will help us greatly. Thankyou for sharing this video God Bless you all Amen and your granddaughter. It's cool too get the younger generation involved. Thankyou and God Bless You all Amen. BEING the Change for the better world and universe amen
Please thank Short Wave Girl for me. I was just about to throw away my wireless doorbell extension. I had already replaced the batteries with no effect. This RUclips inspired me to buy a $6 can of electronic contact cleaner/lubricant and try one more time. I sprayed a couple drops on the volume control switch and worked in in (just like this video) and sure enough the doorbell extension was working again! Kind Regards Arthur KD6GBY
Good morning father... I think your project is excellent, very practical and direct... I had a hard time finding the circuit diagram for the Coinsmaster 6000/D series 2... one of those arrived for repair, if you could share it I would greatly appreciate your cooperation. Thank you and blessings in advance... Regards
I have my dad's exact detector. The battery holder got lost over the years and I haven't been able to find a replacement. I'd love to get it up and running again.
Sometimes we old folks under estimate children, they sure can surprise us how they learn and pick things up, yessir Emily gets it OK. I taught my daughter to solder when she was a young girl. She did very well her first try. Girls seem to have a better knack with handling intricate and delicate things. Just wait 'til she goes through your parts drawers, she will soon know a pot from a cap from a switch, or a resistor from a transistor. ICs will be like old tubes, what they are by their type codes, like a LM386 and a 6AQ5.
Bem legal isso, quando as crianças incentivas e motivadas, começam aos poucos a interessar-se nos primórdios da Eletrônica....meus Parabéns.....achei bem legal esse vídeo.....!!!!!
I have a Bounty Hunter IV detector. When I turn it power knob on ,it bzzzzzzzzzzzs. constant, non stop no matter where it is on the knob selection. Discrimination is OFF and toggle is on METAL in middle. Any idea how to fix this??? The manual says make sure you use ALKALINE batteries head to toe in case. Which I did, brand new. Still doesn't fix the issue.
I was in sweethome to do some roofing up there and I walk in to whites on main street only to dream having 3 of the most powerful and the best period. Even today in 2025 January 9th I own those 3 detectors I could only dream of back then they are in mint condition all them matching color in black one being the black box 5900 di pro sl, 2nd being the 4B GMT,owsome detector for gold and 3rd the MXT PRO wow what a power house and is a 3 in one detector relics, coins, gold, they believed in putting the best technology in fact futurestic technology because today many other brands still almost can't keep up with how well the run thank you whites for not using junk in your machines it's amazing how deep that old dinosaur 5900 goes under ground 8,10, 12 ,13 inches finding goins and gold rings all I can say is wow wow wow a premium build for all of whites detectors
Buen dia amigo asi esta mi detector nomas se oye ese ruido pero no prende es lo unico que se ve un su video y lo mismo que hace mi aparto una pregunto si lo oudo arreglar esa falla. Gracias
...but how do you clean the pushbutton in the handle? I've got a Coinmaster 6000/D and no matter how many times I read the instructions I can't figure out what I'm doing with it. I can't tell if I'm using it wrong or if it has some intermittent. I don't really understand the differences between the modes and what the pushbutton really does. It doesn't help that the instructions focus on coins, nails, pop can pulltabs, aluminum foil, and bottle caps, without describing what it is about the differences between these items that I could extend to detecting other things (this week, I'm looking for stainless-steel hose clamps on a plastic water pipe).
Hello D-Lab. We going through my dads estate I found his old Metal detector. 5900/DI Coinmaster made by Whites. I would love to get it working. Any suggestions on where I can send it would be greatly appreciated. This metal detector has alot of fond memories with my dad. Thank you Joseph
Maybe her next lesson should be to learn how the circuits inside the metal detector works and how it detects metal. She is learning the art of electronics repair pretty well.
At 13:03: You should buy a fume extractor or take solvents OUT DOORS. She's very young and you must teach her about the hazards of WD-40. WD-40 has warnings printed on the can. I find it very sad indeed that you are spraying WD-40 right into her face.
WD-40's chief component is fish oil. Sounds like the same rationale as placing Dihydrogen Monoxide on the list of banned hazardous substances while it's merely a chemical name for WATER. I'm so afraid lol!!! This statement as well as similar thought patterns reflects utter nonsense and idiocy at its best!
@@dimebagriffs Yes indeed, they should be more afraid of being hit by lightning on their birthdays than being harmed by occasional WD-40 spraying on small parts. I know many people, including me, who used WD-40 to lubricate their bikes frequently many decades ago and were never harmed by that. BTW, how many times per week, month or year do we hear of people being intoxicated by spraying WD-40 on the the chain and gears of their garage doors while inside the garage and the door closed?
The kid has a cool grandfather. What a blessing to be able to spend time together

Interesting work, beyond Electronics, on how to teach children in practice. Amazing moments!
Good job teaching Emi electronics. Ham radio license next. 73
