I was like 11 when this shot happened and had been a Blazers fan all my life up till then. (Still am.) I think I also thought that was the coolest thing I had ever seen in sports at the time. It’s still one of my favorite shots of all time. Definitely a cool experience.

the 2013-14 season was the first year i started watching the nba consistently before that i would only watch casually so the 2014 playoffs were the first i truly watched and got to experience so i remember this very vividly i was amazed by this portland v houston series
This video was extremely well put together, built up the tension so nicely and waited until the last seconds to finally show this absolutely beautiful shot. Even though i’ve seen this buzzer beater a hundred times it still felt incredibly exciting because of how good the narration was!
I was at that game, That was the first and only time I’ve actually hugged random strangers in the stands, and the vibe leaving the arena and downtown was insane!
the best part about this is how little hope Nicholas Batum had in that shot, you could tell he was reluctant to pass it, and after he did he literally walks off as if it’s done
This really reminds me how people really over play the whole "Downfall of Dwight Howard" narrative. The guy was so close to reinventing himself at Houston and even made the All NBA Second Team while wearing a Rockets uniform. Unfortunately, he got hit with the injury bug.

Aldridge going off in Houston, Wes Matthews locking up Harden and getting a game winning steal in G4, all the overtimes, the Rockets making Jeremy Lin the starter over Beverley mid series, hack-a-Dwight, and of course Lillard solidifying himself as my favorite player and making me a Blazer fan for life.

I remember this series so well. Aldridge going off in Houston, Wes Matthews locking up Harden and getting a game winning steal in G4, all the overtimes, the Rockets making Jeremy Lin the starter over Beverley mid series, hack-a-Dwight, and of course Lillard solidifying himself as my favorite player and making me a Blazer fan for life.
