This is the dealbreaker for me seeing Blair Witch:
Do the characters argue about a map?
Nah no maps, just GPS that surprisingly doesn't work
Oh good. That's at least 4 sins off.
Nope. They have gps...and it breaks
so they argue about where they are going? xD
"I kicked that gps system into the creek."
Scariest movie was the VHS tape that I didn't know what it was, and put it into our player one time... yeah... found out it was my folks homemade sex tape.
Noooo
Oh...wow that is scary.
And that's how babies are made..
Hubby said something similar, but he found his dad's old VHS porn stash. Apparently his dad was into some weird shit, and refuses to talk about it beyond that.
Witnessed your own creation I see.
The Descent. Incredibly underrated horror movie with a great premise, constant claustrophobia, and chilling ending. Superb.
number5wii YES
Never realized I had a fear of claustrophobia til watching The Descent. God damn.
My favourite found footage movie: Chronicle.
Nuff' said!
Still does flight better than anything I've seen. I feel bad for the producers of Supergirl.
YESSS! That's my favorite movie!
bruce wayne
I'd have to agree witht you, thats awesome. I recommend V/H/S too.
Does quarantine not get any love?
I just thought the ending sucked and that kid whines too much
Honestly, this is the best movie reviewer on RUclips, period.
Him and Stuckman are the only ones I watch
Meh I like YMS as well
YMS?
Him and Stuckmann are it. I tried Flickpick, but couldn't get into him.
Impression Blend is good too.
I watched the Blair witch project in theaters when i was 8 years old with my aunts and cousins. Towards the end of the movie both my cousins were sleeping, while I was into to it. When that girl went into that house and started screaming and seeing that other guy in the corner, I lost my shit. The movie ended and I started crying my ass off because off the fear. I heard people saying that was the worst movie they saw and it sucked while leaving the movies. I cried on the way home while my cousins were like wtf. Got home and cried myself to sleep. I cried for days thinking I saw a man in the corner. my family still makes fun of me and I'm 24 now. Saying I'm going to cry again with this movie. It feels awesome that jeremy was afraid of the first one. Thanks jeremy.
Great start to the Blair Witch Cinematic Universe but the all time greatest horror film is still Killer Clowns From Outer Space.
That is a really fun movie. I love it. Great tribute to B-Movies.
The music was amazing in that movie as well.
You're goddamn right (in my Walter White voice)
Dickies Rule! And what are you gonna do?? Knock my block off??
Your jokeing right? The best one ever will always be "Attack of the killer Tomatos"
Favourite horror movie by far is The Thing. It's a brilliant movie.
Indeed
Mine too.
the old or the new one?
BigBoiMo1995
The 1982 version is 10000000000x superior to the 2011 version.
I'm the only one that believes the 2011 is not bad, but yes the Thing a another John Carpenter masterpiece
I know it's not really a movie, but the one that got me when I was younger was IT.
That shit killed me as a kid lol, I hope the remakes aren't terrible
That was a movie silly.
Nah it was originally a two part series on T.V when it came out
NotoriousJVD Oh, I did not realize that. Very surprising dx
cant wait for the new IT
Jeremy, when are you going to review The Woods?
Please tell me that's sarcasm
Obviously, idiot.
That's the joke.
Went to the drive in and got there late and only saw the last 30 minutes of the woods and i was high and the Movie creeped me the fuck out!!
+Thebepob Really!?! It felt like wasted potential and a waste of a bowl/dube/nug...
Nope, can't do horror movies. They scare the absolute shit outta me, can't watch em.
Fuck this shit I'm out
Apparently horror movies are Black Panther's Kryptonite.
Yeah they are.
Booo grow some balls man. You're missing on a lot of fun shit! >:P
wow i can understand the excuse of "oh there so predictable" "oh theres so much talking" but you won't watch a movie cause its "scary" dude thats the whole point haha
It's good to hear/see a reviewer give mention to the sound design, something that's usually missed upon by other critics.
Scooby Doo Zombie Island is my favorite scary movie.....yeah, I'm not really into horror movies.
Joke all you want, when I was younger that movie scared the piss out of me.
That movie was creepy af it was dark for a Scooby Doo movie.
Especially that creepy ass fucking ghost pirate with the beard
+Garrus Vakarian It was the two lady werewolves for me they gave me chills.
Garrus Vakarian
Right? That scene where the bones come out of the grave man, childhood forever scarred.
Either conjuring 1or 2. Really scared the hell out of me
Gay those movies suck nowadays scary movies aren't even scary they run out of ideas so they just make sequels
Hey not everything has to be new and innovative. Sure there's a severe lack of original ideas, but there is also years and years of ideas in the horror genre alone that you can still make excellent and scary films out of. Which those movies do prove can be done.
oh yeah I forgot about the babadook! that's true it was pretty refreshing to watch when it came out. But originality doesn't come around to often. Jenny seen those 2 yet, have you seen the original short of lights out?
Babadook was a cool idea but that movie was not scary what so ever it bored me
Jonah Delgado lights out 😳
Paranormal Activity 1 and 3 fucked me up. I've always had this fear of home invasion (I suppose everyone does in some way, but I would constantly scare myself by thinking about it and anticipating it. I had such a bad nightmare once when I was 11 and I slept with knives under my pillow) and it was like someone invading your home and you couldn't stop it. You couldn't even see it. I also was terrified by that film Stay Alive. It was about this video game about Elizabeth Bathory (I think) and if you were killed by her in the game the same shit happened to you in real life. I have no idea why that fucked me up when my favorite movie series of all time is the Nightmare on Elm Street series. At least Freddy got you in your dreams and you couldn't help it. I don't have to play a fucking video game.
For some reason, I cannot get into horror movies. But I love reading horror books. Scary books makes up 80% percent of my bookshelf. And if you have read Stephen King, you know that your imagination is much more terrifying than any movies can be.
JOSH! JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!!!
Plenty of that in this one too
+OneMinuteMovieReviews MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKE
JISH!! JIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISH!!!
DEERS DON'T HAVE DORSAL FINS OK!!!!
Josh
*ding*
Loved the original. This one seemed like the same movie. Favorite scary movie of all time is The Thing (1982 remake)
Scariest movie of all time: Leprechaun 4 in da hood
Facts
Leprechaun 4 is where he goes to space...
that’s actually the second one brothaman
That’s #5
Kinda off topic, but am I the only one who didn't find The Shining that scary? I watched it for the first time recently, and while I was creeped out a couple times, I was never really scared. And i consider myself not a big fan of horror movies either. It's a great film though
The Shining isn't really meant to be a horror movie. It's more of a creepy suspenseful thriller.
Same thing goes for the original blair witch project . I watched it recently for the first time but although i really respect it as a film it didn't scare me at all . I believe this happens because we have gotten very desensitized regarding horror movies to a point where the shining or the blair witch project are not that scary anymore . But imagine watching these when they came out . Holy shit.
Same, the only thing that's keeping me from watching The Shining again is the naked, old lady in the bathroom scene.
Not even stephen king liked that film. It is not scary and the acting is laughable.
Steven King didn't like the movie because it was WAY different than his book, not because it was a bad.
Scream is for me the perfect Horror/Slasher Movie ever. The pacing is on point and the characters are interesting..Its making at the same time fun of the genre so its self aware. Neve Cambell did an excellent job at portraing the victim/hero of the movie and Skeet Ulrich was one of the most memrable bad guys/ killers in movie history!!!
narcos season 2 review would be greatly appreciated my spicy american sprinkle dinkle
+
yes pleaseee
I finished that yesterday! Why da fuk do I feel bad 4 Pablo?
Feel bad for someone good, not an asshole and murderer
whheelman345 He was a huge dick in real life, but in the show they humanized him up. A lot
Was never that big of a fan of the Blair Witch Project, but if you were around when that movie was coming out, its marketing was one of the best ever and you will NEVER replicate it. It was an experience. The internet wasn't as big as it is today, so it wasn't as hard to convince MANY people that this film was actual found footage. Everyone was talking about it. And they went all out with the charade, it was an event like no other in the horror community, and a rather memorable pop culture experience in general.
Favorite horror movie of all time: The Shining.
The scariest mindfuck for me was... well, you know how a lot of people's reactions to scary movies/stories is to bury their faces in something, or hide under the sheets?
Somebody thought, "Hey, let's fuck these people up by making the ghost appear under the sheets with you!" Aaaah, scary movie! Hide under the blanket!
*NOPE.*
The safe refuge you had as a kid no longer exists because of that one scene. Now you truly have nowhere to hide.
:(
Are you referring to the Grudge? Cuz yeah that was a little freaky.
Stone Roller Yes, I am. Toshio is a right old bastard. Because of him, getting yourself all tucked in ain't safe anymore. Used to be, if you had your feet poking out, the monsters could get you, and tucking in ensured that didn't happen.
Toshio, that right little mofo, decides it's cool to appear under the sheets with you. Where the fuck are you supposed to hide after that?
When I was a senior in high school I was part of a local th rather group where we had different classes and even performed plays at the theater. Every year we would make horror movies in different groups. That year we had to make a horror movie centered around the theater ghost we have. Our group did a found footage one and we actually had it to where people just disappeared one by one. When we were presenting our movies we were told that the scariest one would be shown at the annual variety show. When everyone watched ours they all had goose bumps and were really freaked out but sadly the one group who added the jump scare won.... we were kind of upset but we were still happy that people were still scared of our movie. It was the only year I was proud of my groups movie lol
Ouch ..
How to make a good Blair Witch remake/reboot/whatever:
1. Less camera's. I understand that you probably can't film on vhs anymore. But the amount of camera's was ridiculous. The ear camera's, the drone, the camera's they had with them, stationary camera's...
2. Less characters, or at least more interesting characters. How about instead of a group of young adults again, have their parents investigate, or for example a school trip into the woods (telling scary campfire stories would make more sense this way). All the characters in the remake felt flat.
3. Character interaction. This follows the second point. Almost every line/scene was to either tell something about the witch or make a scare. How about some normal dialogue about their lives or you know.. just normal talk. You don't make something scary by telling what it is or why it is scary. (This was done sublime in the first movie.).
4. More time in the woods. I want to experience a sense of being lost and the fright that goes with it. What if you run out of water, food, and whatever. The forest should in some sense be scarier that the witch and the paranormal stuff.
5. Less paranormal, or at least leave it for the end of the movie.
6. A vaguer threat with less grand things happening. Skip trees falling down, time stuff etc.
Have them quessing what is happening and who's doing it to them. Build the scary stuff up as the movie progress. (their declining mental state should run parallel to an inscerase of scary things.)
7. Less jump scares. This frustrated me to a endless degrees in the remake. Can we not have a jump scare every 5 minutes, and every time you run into someone.
The Exorcist. I know it's a cliche answer, but holy shit is it scary.
trying reading the book. i did back in highschool and i swear to you some creepy shit happened go me. nothing harmfull but definitely odd during the couple of weeks that it took me to finish if
+Kratos2591 what creepy stuff? or is that too personal :)
I've seen it to many time, I just laugh at it now.
The Exorcist 3 is really good as well, 2nd one not so much
No, it's not.
favourites scary movie of all time? wow thats a hard one. Maybe The Shining, The Exorcist and The Thing (if that counts)
Three best horror Movies of all time, My good sir.
Idk the shining didn't really scare me that much, it was a great film and there were definitely some creepy parts but it didn't really freak me out
All overrated and not scary if you aren't 5 years old.
im guessing you are like 15 because those movies were really scary when they came out
papabeanguy I was about 13 when I saw them.
does it heavily rely on jumpscares to do its job?
According to Stuckman, the jumpscares are incredibly annoying and overused.
Somewhat but it also uses a lot of tension and suspense as well.
Kinda.
yes the first hour is all jumpscares honestly. But once the shit starts going down i was extremely scared.
I dunno - why don't you go and watch it and then tell us
Halloween (1978) is not only my favorite horror movie, but my favorite movie in general. No gore and very little blood, and soooo much suspense. I love it.
Wait, are we just gonna ignore the fact that there's too many jumpscares? o.o
Yeah, what's your point?
***** I brought this up because over the last five years, there were too many jumpscares to the point were it becomes old and irritating. Basically it's just sound scaring the audience rather than everything around them. I mean I've watched films like The Conjuring 2, Don't Breathe and Lights Out that did not show too many of them, and not false that it works as a horror film.
thank you for saying something. I was really disappointed to see so many jump scares in this movie. I understand why they did it, people just can't appreciate tension and ambiance and end up complaining it was boring. I just am so tired of the stupid crashing noises with jump scares in movies, it's not scary it's startling. I don't go to horror movies to be startled.
Well its got too many fake jumpscares (as in it was a friend doing it, not the monster). Theres barely any plot to speak of and people just get wiped out for no rhyme or reason. They don't even look at her. They split up, they walk in the dark (eventhough no one would do that), pointless shit happens and then it just sort of ends as predicable as possible.
I'm a horror movie wuss I may have watched like 10 in my life yet nothing in this movie got me every jump scare is HEY!
Of all time? The Ring. Bit of nostalgia in it, in that that movie was what got me into horror in a big way...one of the first I had ever seen.
And nothing beats that final scene of her crawling out of the TV. Gave me a minor anxiety attack first time watching it (alone).
jeremy jahns review's are always fun to watch ;)
hmm scariest movie...I would say twilight, that shit just made me want to rip my eyes out in horror
My favorite horror movie can probably be best summed up by its most memorable quote.
"I admire its purity. A survivor...unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality."
If/When they make a sequel, what would they call it? Blair Witch 2? Blair Witch Project 4? Continue the shortening theme by calling it Blair?
Blair witch: the woods
Spooky Witch:The Reckoning
I watched a fart porn once, make that twice. A woman squatted down above a guy laying on his back with his boner facing up and anyway she farted on his dick. Crazy right. I first got into fart porn back in 2008-09ish with Cake farts. A girl sits on a cake and afterwards farts a lot. You can see her anus engorge and flair out & all. It's dope.
Sometimes I don't know why I beat off to the things I snap off to. Like sometimes afterwards I'm so ashamed of myself. That passes though and I'm right back at watching amateur milf housewife f*cks neighbor or like pregnant woman f's this or that. I like real women in real situations. Bye!
2Witch2furious
The shining is my favorite horror film
I saw this last night, and it wasn't really scary at all. All the jump scares where predictable. the only kinda unsettling thing was when she was crawling through that hole at the end because I am claustrophobic so that kinda got to me.
I agree, shitty, predictable movie full of shakycam and jumpscares.
GarrickkTheGreat I agree this movie sucks in my opinion
Jacob's Ladder is really underrated.
New to scary movies, so won't go with a classic, but I really thought the conjuring was remarkable. Just simply as a movie. Super fun
The Conjuring is great all around as both a horror movie and a movie.
Yeah, The Conjuring is a great movie, to be fair the second one to me wasn't AS good, but I'd still give it a watch :)
A fun horror movie that really only works around Halloween is Trick 'r' Treat.
Tom Mills i feel you, but the second one was still fun
I liked everything about Conjuring except the ending. I'm so sick of Exorcist ripoffs. ..
Sinister, the first one.
Can't wait to check this out
Honestly this movie was the scariest movie I've seen so far. The last act where the shit hits the fan and does not let up was so intense with the combination of sound and imagery. Well done Wingard.
The original Evil Dead is my favourite horror film.
Review "Train to Busan"!!!
Jeremy doesn't review indie movies
He only reviews indies that are worth reviewing. Like whiplash
just saw that a few days ago! BEST. ZOMBIE. MOVIE. EVAH!
I just watched that movie. The ending was predictably predictable
***** It's been screening here for a week and I live in Arizona
The Ring.
Which one? The Japanese original? or the remake?
Rings is coming out soon. That freaking well is all I need to see to give me the willies. Dying to see how they continue the scene they show in the trailer on the plane where everyone's laptop pops up a well. (And how is it that EVERYONE on the plane has a laptop open?)
Angela Smith That movie is gonna fuck up so hard.
They weren't laptops, but tv screens in the seats for showing films.
That guy Yep
the blair witch project wasn't even scary it sucked
Maybe by today's standards, but back when it came out nobody really knew if they were watching a movie or a documentary. It was new for the time. Just like Psycho was new for that time. Today, Psycho may not be seen as "good" or "scary", but back then, most of the things Hitchcock did was new. The shower scene was extreme for the time, the opening scene with the chick in her bra was explicit, hell, flushing the toilet was new.
Just because it doesn't meet today's standards doesn't mean it isn't/wasn't good
Also The Blair Witch Project had an amazing marketing campaign that complimented the format. Coupled with the lack of super natural elements and it really made it seem real. Something found footage movies today really haven't replicated well.
My dad was born in 1957 and when he saw the original Blair Witch in theaters he thought it sucked too.
It's called an opinion, it has nothing to do with when a person was born or when a movie came out.
it really sucked. these three actors were annoying af ! Joshhhhh, Joshhh, Mikkeee Mikeeee . . .
you bitch about the actors being annoying when you probably would've acted the same way if you were in that situation.
Finally, Jeremy set his mind on what he likes and what he doesn't like. In many of his older reviews, if the movie had a lot of action and not a lot of exposition, he criticized it for that. Otherwise he would point out that the movie slowed down considerably in parts.
Jeremy... looking for subtlety in a movie in 2016 is like looking to find theater admission prices below $8.
The theater I work at, $5 matinees and 7.50 for adults after 6pm! And we have a big theater that shows almost every movie! Come to Minnesota haha
Justin Johnson I can find a theater here too that has admission less than $8 but you have to be picky about where and when you go. I have one close by that does $5 Tuesdays with half price concessions. And there is always the Early Bird special price and matinees. But I was more just making a joke about the scarcity of regular admission price being less than nearly $10 these days at most theaters.
I'd love to see you do As Above So Below.
It's a toss up between The Shining and The Babadook for me. Neither of them are necessarily crap-your-pants scary, but I enjoy the heck out of both of them for the way they were made and the creepy subtleties.
Good job JJ! Wathed this and Stuckmann's review back to back. Quite different angles, but that is often the case with horror movies. They are probably the most subjective movies.
4:25 I am crying at that! I watched it 10 times!! LMFAOO!!
favorite scary movie: Bambi
favorite scary movie: Twilight. What's scary about it? Why do people like these movies!
Jeremy, you have always been my favorite movie reviewer of all time.
Jeremy! You got to see the movie 'Train to Busan' (horror/zombie)
My favorite (not only horror) movie of all time is the original Evil Dead. THOSE woods are NASTY!
Great pick
My first thought at the woods scene of that movie was "I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going" little did I know how right I was
+Zerker161 lmao
I loved the original but when i watched the remake as soon as it went off, i swear me and my cousin felt a dark energy enter the room. Something is up with that movie. Never watching it again.
I love Evil Dead :D the remake was not too bad, but the original and Evil Dead 2 are pure gold
Does it show the Witch?
BATJAX Just on case you still might not know.
Not directly, it shows you a silhouette of a woman that isn't out of our time or from the year 1999. The movie does show a 'Slenderman' like monster/creature really quickly a few times. ☺
CheDi Richardson where’s the silhouette in the original or the newer movie?
Ringu still creeps me out to this day. I definitely agree that subtlety in horror movies is so much more effective then constant jump scares
Part of the reason the first one was so "scary" was due to the timing and execution of it. The Blair Witch Project was one of the first ever found footage movies, and that kind of tricked people; they weren't used to it. By the mid 2000's there were more of these types of movies than I care to count, and it lost its luster in a sense. Not only that, but at the time of the release the internet was still a new thing as well. So, there were no deep analytics of the site that was set up dedicated to the movie. Database sites dedicated to movies (like IMDB) listed the actors as "deceased" which only furthered the depth of the creepiness and scare-factor. Fake police reports, missing posters, and the not so elusive phrase: "this film is a true story" all contributed to the trick. This many years later, I can safely say that I don't think I was one of the people who believed that The Blair Witch Project was true, but having experienced the marketing campaign first hand, I can see why other people did. Overall, TBWP is a legitimate juggernaut of the film industry, and is everything that a found footage film aspires to be these days. So, like Jeremy said, he doesn't understand why he was scared of it looking back... well, that might be why.
Jeremy, when are you going to review Stranger Things?
Scariest horror movie? Never say never.
Still have nightmares...
Never Say Never Again? Nothing's more scary than 50 year old Sean Connery trying to act like James Bond again
He's talking about Justin Bieber's Never Say Never. That little shithead is more terrifying than Death itself.
Ha Ha
2016 guys.
It's been a great year for horror films , despite the films telling cliche/unoriginal stories , they do it in a unique/creative way
Just watched it and it brought me back to the same fears I had when I watched the original way back when it was in theaters. Not usually impressed by sequels, particularly not from "dead" (unused in a very long time) movies, but yeah, this really got my heart rate up.
RUclips changed for mobile :O
I can finally up/down-vote comments :D
it sucks
I can't respond to you guys directly?
slower
I don't think u can. This sucks
Best horror film is still Alien hands down
no
Aliens is superior
Eh.. its good but not best, nothing is best. Aliens is definitely best space horror movie
Lucky Korin Yes because it is best of its GENRE mixtrue and type. Do I have to explain that really?
Alien is way better than Aliens which was way more action than horror anyways. Fav Horror movie of all time though. Original Halloween it set the bar for slashers and change the genre
The Changeling with George C. Scott still to this day makes the hair on my arm stand up.
John Carpenter's The Thing. I first saw that movie when I was, like, eight, so you'd better believe those practical effects scared the FUCK out of me!
Am I the only one who thought this was really bad horror movie I honestly fucking hated the movie too much screaming and the end fucked me off more than anything it did have the creeps and shit but no way is it good imo
I'd love to see a found footage movie of Jeremy Jahns, Doug Walker (Nostaglia Critic) and James Rolfe where they team up to go searching for a lost version of Star Wars or whatever and they get lost themselves lol
Thanks for the review J, planning to see this one as soon as it hits local theatre
I noticed with Chris Stuckmann's review that he was using a criticism for Blair Witch that reminded me of what many people have thought about The Force Awakens, and I thought it was kind of hypocritical to find disappointment in that particular aspect and not with TFA. So Jeremy, I'm glad you actually address that show at least some consistency with that aspect.
The Exorcist scared the shit outta me when the first time i watched it. It doesn't have that same effect on me anymore though. Also, i know this is a shitty movie, but 13 Ghosts gave me nightmares for like 2 weeks when I was younger lol
13 ghost terrified me when i first saw it lol
13 Ghosts is probably my favorite cheesy horror film.
13 Ghosts scared the hell out of me as a child. I seen that around age 9 or 11.
I just saw this movie and I have to say it was truly terrible, worst movie I have seen all year, I would recommend seeing don't breathe instead. Scariest thing about this movie summarized : "LISAAAAAA!!!!" .... "MIIKEEEEE!!!!" ..... "JOSSHHHHH!?!?!?'' the jump scares were so bad that they were funny, me and my friends were shouting each others names all night
I thought this movie was pretty good. I liked the story and the suspense it had. I found it interesting how they dove deeper into the witch's story and how she died.
You seem like someone who enjoys the modern style of horror movies. All you care about is jump scares instead of atmosphere and build up. Not gonna lie though, the jump scares were shit at points
What? This whole movie was bad not just the jump scares lol, but some of my favorite scary movies are: the shining, the thing, psycho, and cabin in the woods and those movies are mostly atmosphere or plot focused so your diagnosis is incorrect my friend
I agree. Nothing happened in the whole movie. It was boring. Wait....the black chick cut her foot crossing the creek and they went in an abandoned house at night. OMG.
When I went to watch The Blair Witch Project it was in a old pre multiplex, 2 screen theatre with creaky old seats and a damp musty smell that just added to the experience! Made it feel that much creepier!
I literally got a trailer for this film as my pre-video ad.
Blair witch gives interesting reasons for why people stand in the corners in the murder house.
Not really.
Succubitch Yeah really, it's because if you don't look at the witch you don't die. At least not immediately.
cjs1916 I didn’t think it was an interesting reason, I just thought it was just another one of those horror movie things. At least that’s the vibe I got from it.
You either hate this movie or really like it. I've heard people say it's the worst and best movie of the year. Very dividing
Same effect as with the first movie! Some praise it as one of the scariest movies ever made, others say it's a snore fest.
I'm actually in between for this one. I HATE all the stupid jump scares that they crammed into this movie, but the ending was super good. You felt more surrounded in the woods because there's not much space everytime you see them filming compared to the first one. All in all, good movie but could've done without the jump scares from switching cameras all the time or because someone unexpectedly popped up right in front of the camera.
every time a movie comes out. every time. I check your channel to see if it's even worth going to the theater. thank you for that man. your a badass and God bless.
The Exorcist and laughably, "Witchboard" starting Tawney Kitaen both scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. Also, The Original "Dawn of the Dead". Thanks for your channel. It's the best.
Basically a remake of the original but with more deaths still waiting for Blair Wizard the bastard brother of the Blair Witch lol
This was a terrible movie. Literally just LOUD noises and shaky cam.
Great review Jeremy, I can't wait to see this I know you normally don't review past movies but if you choose to do so can you review both the collector n the collection
When I was a kid the only movie to truly creep me out was Pet Sematary. That skinny bitch being fed the baby food was some scarring shit to see as a kid, scarier than anything else in that movie.
A Serbian Film...side effects include temporary ptsd
Aaron Sanders wow dude, is this your first time on the Internet? I'm just gonna assume your a troll, cause I can't take you seriously as you shouldn't my initial statement. I'm just saying imo a Serbian film is better than martyrs just as some would say star wars is better than star trek. Anyways this lil banter was fun, have a good day kid.
jeepers creepers anyone?
Young sinatra yes yes yes
Definitely up there
The Exorcist holds the record for what ever scared me the most, but I'm old enough to have been there, hehe (yeah... old). Rosemary's Baby is my *favorite* horror movie of all-time, though, even though it's really not scary to me (or most people) -- it's just the most finely crafted, best-acted piece of storytelling in the horror genre I've ever seen.
The Blair Witch project was the first film since The Exorcist that ever really scared me. I can't tell you what a delight it was, too, to be truly terrified again by a film. I've seen it a few times since it was released, and it honestly has much more potential to frighten me now than The Exorcist does.
The timeless charm of The Blair Witch Project will always lie in its sincerity. Scoff at what it's trying to do if you must. But hold your tongue if you dare to speak ill of it's heart. The Blair Witch Project is every bit a serious attempt at horror as The Exorcist was, and maybe more. You might accuse me of blasphemy there, but if you believe Linda Blair got it well into her head that she was possessed by the devil, you're wrong. On the other hand, it's clear that everyone involved with The Blair Witch Project got it into their heads during more than a few places in the film that the ridiculous things that were supposed to be happening WERE happening.
Jeremy please reply to me i keep trying to get here early but itsnever early enough i love you videos thank you

Stranger Things
Favorite Horror Film: Halloween (1978). It's simple, expressionistic, and just frightening (the scene when Laurie is running back to house she was babysitting at and Michael walks slowly across the street to get her, while she screams for Tommy to let her back in, makes the movie!). The scariest part resides in its realism. Michael Myers isn't a ghoul, ghost, or a dream stalking demon. He's just a guy, who for no apparent reason whatsoever, just went crazy and decided to stab his sister, over and over again. Then, years later, upon escaping an institution, stalks babysitters to repeat the same crime, over and over again (Laurie wasn't established as being his sister until the sequel) for no reason other than to kill anyone and everyone in his path. His relentlessness and presence make him one of the ultimate fear-inducing creatures ever presented in cinematic form. And that ending, THAT ENDING. He's shot 5 or 6 times (depending on the cut you watch) he falls of a balcony and then just DISAPPEARS! He vanishes from the scene implying that the evil is far from over and that he could be anywhere. After all, you can't kill the boogeyman!
It's nice to see Jeremy actually kinda dug this film, because it got *trashed* by the majority of critics and audiences, and I never understood why. Sure, it wasn't as good as the original, but for what it was... I really dug this movie. It felt like a proper sequel to the original that adequately amped things up and added to the mystery. Sure, I wish it was maybe a bit more ambiguous, but once it got going, I was pretty much glued to the screen.
You know what else is good? Stranger Things.
I didn't like the original Blair Witch. Was super disappointed by it. I wasn't scared. I wasn't satisfied and nothing happened. Super disappointing. Hopefully this one actually delivers what the original one didn't.
Doesn't seem very smart... planning to watch the homage-sequel to a film you didn't like. Kinda masochistic, no?
To be honest as long as we actually see actual things happening to these characters or at least see a witch of some kind. I'll be happy. Lol imagine my disappointment watching a movie called Blair witch, and didn't see a damn thing.

Alexander Pope famously said:
"Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed"
I understand Buddhists are partial to this philosophy as well, it makes it easier to appreciate things as they _are_.
Not that you could necessarily do that with The Blair Witch Project anyway, but I digress.
Our conjured thoughts and inagination is scarier than anything anyone can put onto screen. The BWP was suppose to make our brains churn and imagine what was going on. I don't think it ever meant to have stuff actually be happening on screen nor was the blair witch ever meant to be shown. The premise of the witch was that she was left to die and ended up cursing the land/forest of burkitsville. She's suppose to be a presence in the black hills forest, not an actual person running around yelling "BOO!".
Its not good... at all.
Forget the scary movies i cant get over the tubular wave that has formed in his hair lol. Much love.
The Exorcist or The Shining are still probably the horror films that freak the living daylights out of me the most. In the case of The Exorcist, it was one of the first horror films I ever saw and I still deeply respect its realism and ability to throw nearly every kind of horror there is at me and work. With The Shining, which I saw alone at midnight at winter night, it was one of the most overwhelming feelings of pure terror as it burrowed into my mind.
The shining isn't a horror movie but more of a thriller . It'll mess of your brain but you know.
I dunno Jeremy. If there was a found footage movie about people that end up in a place and then just start disappearing one by one without a trace, it would pretty much be a Batman movie of any given predator room in Arkham games. From the perspective of a goon. In found footage format
...
Actually, fuck it, that sounds awesome.
Terrible movie. Book of Shadows Was better than this shit.
I think I must have been the only one who was bored senseless with the first Blair Witch movie when it first came out in the cinema, I did think the ending was interesting though but it never scared me.
All these years later I’m still hoping to see Jeremy talk about Hell House LLC or Grave Encounters. Two of my favorite found footage movies along with Rec.
