    Latest firmware for this monitor is a big improvement. 1016.2 has now upgraded the Ultimate Freesync settings to the range of 48-144Hz. Very happy with this monitor and the continued support Samsung has done on the firmware side.

      Did you have to use a certain file system or directory structure to upgrade the firmware? I can't it can't it to find the .BIN file. Even though I'm following their directions to the T! Super Frustrating. I tried NTFS and FAT32

    • @MaverickSY19
      @MaverickSY19 6 лет назад +6

      Used FAT32 on a 4GB USB 2.0 drive, making sure to put it in USB slot 1 on the monitor. Make sure you have the right bin file for your model, there are different ones for the 32" and the 27".

      @Scoot Anderson - So the review that I read which states Freesync only works up to 100hz is out of date?

    • @RifetOkic

      Hi, is it true the monitor support G-sync also after latest Nvidia driver ? Some monitors are compatible, i read from a customer reviewer g-sync works.
      If so this is the best bargain of a monitor ever. I have the smaller cf73.
      Will get this one :)

    I just got this monitor at 27" and I am very pleased with it's performance. It was updated to the latest firmware so it was fully supporting my Vega 56 and Freesync 2 hdr.
    The only con I could find was that the stand if about twice as deep as most stands.
    Granted, this depth allows for vertical adjustment but it is exactly like Techy describes. Buy a vesa monitor stand and you are good to go for 40 bucks.

    Unfortunately PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) is being used to control the backlight in Samsung C32HG70, so this monitor is blinking/flickering when users reduce the monitor brightness. Therefore, it can cause headache and eye strain. Using PWM to control the backlight of a monitor is a cheap way. For more information read these pages.

      I noticed this after using mine for about 3 or 4 days, I also had an issue with the leds flickering on black colors, it would look like a snow storm to some extent, hard to explain it, but you could see the light cycling behind the screen.. Backlight bleed was atrocious....

    One of the best gaming Monitor in 144 hz !
    Very good Monitor for the players but missing some options like more connections ( HUB USB, DVI ...).
    But take the C27FG73 version is almost the same but the panel is slightly better and the base is less imposing and more manageable.
    Panel VA pixel QLED,350 cd/m²,Moving Picture Response Time 1 MS, setting OSD very well designed,curved monitor,Flicker free,eye saver,FreeSync,adjustable base and especially the price!
    Between the Acer 27" LED - Predator Z271Tbmiphz that costs 723 dollars and Samsung cost 437 dollars about 280 dollars more, this samsung has a better value for money.
    and the only difference between monitor is on one side the G-Sync and the other FreeSync, it's expensive to pay for G-Sync technology
    if not for the acer predator is a slab/panel VA 4ms 300cd / m², 1080p ( Resolution as the Samsung C27FG73)
    Specifications are slightly lower than Samsung monitor except for features like HUB and connectors.
    At the price of expensive Acer Predator, I will rather choose the samsung C27HG70 panel VA pixel QLED 1ms Wqhd, HDR 1Ms ...
    The C27HG70 costs about the same price as the ACER predator is about 750 dollars.

      @@userg7196 I'm still using DVI with my GTX 1070, but only because I haven't upgraded my 4 year old 1080p 60Hz IPS monitor. This port isn't dead quite yet (especially when NVIDIA has it on the brand new RTX 2060) but it's obsolete no doubt.

    • @MrStoam
      @MrStoam 5 лет назад

      The main difference for me in these 2 Samsung monitors is the resolution. 1440p is necessary in anything 27'+. I went from a 22' 1080p to a 27' 1080p, and everything just looked blocky and honestly just awful. you're sacrificing size for quality and that's not a good trade in my opinion. I sent it back and I'm strongly considering this monitor.

    I have the same monitor but with 32" with latest firmware. After a 2-3 years (now) when i start PC maybe when monitor is cold, some times at the bottom of the screen left to right i see lines (green?) and after 2-3 minutes disappear and the monitor continue without problems. I test other ports (hdmi-display port )with external TV and is the same. So it's not a PC problem. Maybe the power source of the TV ? I tried also to reset to factory the monitor with no changes. • @Melibond64
      @Melibond64 3 года назад

      @@antonistuart2408 For me, since I have a GTX 980 Ti, the issue was that I can only use the HDR mode through HDMI, and I was using a DisplayPort cable, so check your GPU's compatibility with HDR online. Don't even bother though, the monitor only has like 6 local dimming zones, which, if that's what you're mentioning as grey, well, there you have it. HDR looks far worse than SDR on a monitor like this. 6 local dimming zones makes highlights and shadows/shades look flat. And, although there is a lot more detail in the colours, which I appreciate, it makes everything look so flat that I'd rather play in SDR instead. I'm very dissapointed with the monitor.

    Actually the only thing I resally want from a monitor is for the colors to really pop out. And what I mean by that is that red really looks red like on samsung AMOLED smartphones. Even if it looks unrealistic as I am not a photoshopper.
    In this case, am I then better off with a IPS panel or a VA panel? I have had IPS before but never used a VA panel so I don't have anything to compare it to.

    Thinking of buying this or LG 34UC98-W. My playing wil be DS3 and FF15 when it comes on PC. I love the LG because it would also replace my TV and be simply awesome when watching movies. Clearly wins this one for movie watching bc of the wideness. The only thing is I don't know if my rx 480 even OC'd can get to the freesync range in LG (55-75Hz) when playing titles like DS3 and FF15 in 1440p. I have no idea how much more gpu power ultrawides need over normal benchmark monitors in same res. Thoughts about these two monitors and their comparability?

    You are running 70% brightness in standard response time in this video, and there is no flicker (except when you enable strobing modes). Does the standard response time stay flicker free all the way down to 0%?
    The C32HG70 is flickering at below 95% brightness, so this is good news.

    • @TechyTalkUK
      @TechyTalkUK  7 лет назад +7

      I haven't actually double checked but I believe it does stay flicker free - I was using it as my main monitor for a week or so with it set to 14% brightness and I didn't notice any flicker. Samsung also claims the backlight is completely flicker-free unless strobing is turned on.

    • @Leopardipzg
      @Leopardipzg 7 лет назад +3

      Yes I can confirm this now that I got the monitor - it stays flicker
      free throughout the whole brightness range. Sadly I got the "knuckle
      drag" distorted arcs on dark background that some people complained about in newegg and reddit, so I

    It looks better with HDR off, if you ask me - at least in the example provided. However, everything else about it is really, really nice. This seems like the kind of monitor I could use both to play games, watch movies and work, write emails, a little bit of code and angry youtube comments. The bezels are small enough, I think they're targetting single monitors users. I think I would like it next to 24-27" inch monitor placed in portrait mode next to it, for browsing the web while another application is maximized on the CHG70.

    Actually, this monitor is pretty shit.
    More indepth review here ruclips.net/video/h7JPDa3xgZg/видео.html its only got 8 dimming zones so its useless for that.
    The freesync range is 80-120hz, which is a joke. 80-140 with CRU.

    • @MaverickSY19
      @MaverickSY19 7 лет назад

      That was in July I wonder if they may have improved that in updates to the monitor. I loaded an update to mine several versions newer than what it had out of the box.

    • @terraincognitagaming
      @terraincognitagaming 7 лет назад

      Do you have the monitor? Can you check if the range is still 80-120?
      The dimming zones cannot be changed with software tho.

    • @MaverickSY19
      @MaverickSY19 7 лет назад

      ToastyX CRU application shows it 72-144Hz range. So they must have updated it in the monitor software I loaded if that other review says native was 80-120. Also its a Freesync 2 monitor so AMD requires it to fully support LFC to be certified Freesync 2. www.amd.com/Documents/freesync-lfc.pdf With LFC you want to turn on VSync so that if it drops below 72 you will get the better performance it describes in that PDF. I ran the Windmill demo that runs at 60Hz and could not notice any issues with VSync on and off it was smooth.

    • @TechyTalkUK
      @TechyTalkUK  7 лет назад +1

      To clarify, the Freesync range is 48-144Hz, and yes I've also confirmed the 8 dimming zones, which is all but pointless. However, in my assesment of the monitor I was always aware that the local dimming would be a minor point as this display uses edge lighting so there's no way it could be all that effective, even if it had more "zones". Apologies if that wasn't made more clear. The HDR claim basically comes down to the 3000:1 native contrast ratio (2500:1 according to my tests) and the extended colour gamut and in that regard it is genuinely more HDR than most gaming monitors (IPS/TN) but clearly it's a bit of a stretch overall. As I say in my conclusion, it's everything else about the display that actually makes it tempting.

    • @MaverickSY19
      @MaverickSY19 7 лет назад

      I believe the freesync range is 72-144 on Ultimate setting. The reason I say this is you can with the latest firmware of this monitor that came out on 9/20 open up the menu go to Information and watch the Freesync frequency now syncing with your FPS in games. With LFC if you drop below the min range it will double the frequency output. So if you drop below 72 it will double say 71 to 142Hz if you open a game and get your FPS to go from say 80s to 60s you can see this happen. You will see the frequency double the second you go below that 72Hz lower end. This is very smooth I don't even notice it at all and their is no issues with the smooth display. I am using a RX Vega 64 liquid cooled card now so it has the full display port 1.4 output and Freesync 2 support. I was using a Fury X crossfire setup with I first got the monitor and noticed that Freesync worked fine but HDR was hit or miss on working in ME:A and now it works every time. They upgraded the firmware 2x so far on this monitor and improved it both times so that is nice to see.

  • @GoodKid

    So I have a question: I currently have the Acer XG270HU, a 1440p, 144hz, 1ms TN panel. If I switched it for this monitor, what would the response time difference be? Perhaps I heard wrong, but it kinda sounded like there was a "but" or a con when you bump it up to 144hz 1ms response time. Would would I be losing out on by switching??

  • @austinlasater8432
    @austinlasater8432 7 лет назад

    do you have a color calibrator to check the actual % youre getting from this? I cant believe that this is 92% aRGB that doesn't even see feasible when every single other panel on the market for this price point can barely scrape at 70%.

    • @TechyTalkUK
      @TechyTalkUK  7 лет назад

      Yup, measured with an Xrite iDisplay Pro (not the most sophisticated colorimeter on the market but plenty good enough for telling the difference between 70% and 90% aRGB).

  • @PewLaserBeams
    @PewLaserBeams 7 лет назад

    I have this screen, quality pretty good, design pretty good, sofware good, image out of the box bad, way to bright and need colour adusting to get the right colors, 144hz awsome, overdrive is a setting the old model didnt had and its very good and can give you a edge in FPS fames and make the game looks like playng in the old crt´s with no display lag, but you compromisse some image quality when set to too hight due to inverse ghosting at hight levels but every 144hz does thay, ideally for single player games use 0 or 20, you are able to save diferent video presets for diferent games wich is very usefull, If you guys read the amazon reviews the best rated monitor is the viewsonic 144hz, but where I live we don´t have that brand, still pretty happy with my monitor 144Hz gave me a BIG skill improvement, I played in a 10 y old tft screen, lots of tearing, display lag and was hard to aim tbh, at 144 with lo lag, its smooth and my aim improved a lot, so ye pretty happy my only con problably is the gamma values that doesn´t seem right to me, but no option to tweak, to conclude good monitor if you have the viewsonic where you live at comparable prices get it instead, and this monitor is slighy better then the old model.

I also had an issue with the leds flickering on black colors, it would look like a snow storm to some extent, hard to explain it, but you could see the light cycling in the pixels. Backlight glow was atrocious and not uniform at all.... I sent it back for a refund..

    Hello. to anyone who can test a Freesync monitor/Nvidia card/Intel processor.
    My Freesync monitor seems to be recognizing Freesync since the Win10 October update and the most recent Nvidia update. I have the Samsung LC27HG70QQNXZA monitor, a GTX 1080 by MSI, and an intel i7 7700. The monitor's setting options now have Freesync options that were not definitely not there the last 9 months. The computer also reacts when I change to Freesync on the monitor. Can someone confirm that that is the case with their Nvidia/ Freesync monitor combo?
