That cop was quite unfriendly to me last time I was in Banyjuls. He was stopping and telling anybody who was looked like traveller rather than the plastic tourists (whose money they love so much) to leave town. He even said there was a free bus to Perpignan. They banned the sale of alcohol for the 14th July so I went to Spain 20 minutes away. Nasty angry old cop still in uniform at 60. Must be bitter. Anyway Banyjuls is my least like French village. In recent years they have destroyed what character it once had. Streamlined concrete promenade and the beach is grit and rocks. No sand at all. It's a tourists trap. Better go to Collioures anytime.
