I agree with you on the fact that some talented people passed under the radar because of the cost of the equipment. But back inna days, you could find a connect who had everything at home, learn how to produce on his shit, make beats then buy your own stuff was the next step. Never forget that like you said: it’s a competition, everybody’s not supposed to cross the finish line or even run on the track. Some just watch it from the stands even if they could do their thing at home. Salute! Keep grindin’ on your music!💪🏾

I started in the late 80's From double tape deck looping, to a Tascam 424 and a Roland DJ70. From MPC2000 to MV8000 and beyond. I have a lot of love for all genres and even the new school cats. There's good music but you gotta dig to find it. I can say, things are SO easy now that it almost makes you lazy. Mani used to do everything the hard way and there was nowhere aside of the library to even learn anything. I love how and when i had to learn, but i also respect the the efficiency that technology has bought us. If theres one thing i can say about the new school digital producers, is that they know how to mixdown and tweak things to the Tee. I respect both sides of the gamut. Music is the therapy and the passion that keeps us pushing through life.

desegregation put my hood in townships where music was taught in different methods. As a youngster fell in love with classical, big band and "their" view of jazz and blues music.. from a pure theoretically based perspective 👍🏾

I started on a sr16, two tascam records, cdRw recorded, 16 channel mixer from the church, and some old yanaha 2 way 15s from the church. And a trash yamaha keyboard lol. All hardware
I miss hardware but it cost, but hardware sound hard to beat.
    I use cubase/Reason now. But I still crave hardware/midi
Them old budgets was crazy, plus artist development
