Songs that come from an experience you had always have a story attached to it naturally. Hope I'm right ⁉️ 🤔
Yes, but many times we are singing about things that we have not experienced. Being a good singer does involve being an actor too.

Almost every musical choice will have some dramatic subtext to it. There's a reason the composer wrote it that way. They could have chosen any number of dynamic markings, any number of articulations, any number of ways to resolve that chord change. Those choices were presumptively intentional, and your job as the interpreter of the music is to figure out what motivated them so you can embody that in your performance.
