I believe the idea was that whenever Ben goes ultimate, he risks becoming more violent and/or losing control kinda like the Hulk or like with Wrath. It works with the mechanics of how going Ultimate works. If the Ultimatrix simulates a millennia of evolution in a perpetual war, it makes sense that the Ultimate Transformation would be more predisposed to violence and aggression. Plus, it could also act as a balancing thing for the Ultimatrix. That while Ben can go Ultimate whenever he likes, he risks becoming a monster with frequent use. Because currently, Ben doesn't have any cons to ever going Ultimate.
That would be an interesting plot to have along side the Kevin madness thing that happens later. Maybe have it after Kevin is brought back to normal and have Kevin be determined to save Ben because he relates. (I mean they could do it before Kevin's madness but I don't think it would work because Ben should relate and not want to kill Kevin if that's the case.) But a slow build up to Ben having his own break or turn to the darkside would have been cool since we saw it sort of foreshadowed in that training episode with the Helpers.
@@Stargazer_Ley it could also work as another reason for Kevin going insane during the aggregor arc. Since Kevin is a lot more in control now than when he was 11. The explanation would be that he absorbed some ultimate energy. Kevin has grown a lot so it makes sense that it would take a lot more to make him go insane again
@@christianhenry4173 I kinda prefer Ben not having Ultimates. For one, The Omnitrix's whole deal is that it's supposed to allow anyone to experience life in another Alien's shoes. Every Alien that Ben can turn into exists somewhere out there. And that's why Ben is a good hero. He uses the tools and his own empathy to be that hero. Going Ultimate kinda removes that since he relies on non-existant creatures now. Secondly, it makes the show kinda boring because Ben can just go Ultimate and solve a problem instead of needing to switch up his attacks
@@FraserSouris I disagree it does add some scifi evolution function to give the aliens a stronger armor than before. Omniverse try to replicate that with using other ways to combine alien DNA. And it drastically worked but drastically failed to keep my attention. You go back and look at the reboot of 2016. You can see in the last episode how ultimate aliens evolution function highly inspired the 2016 alien x.
I personally like that his identity is out there, I mean, he doesn't wear a mask, and doesn't try to hide it that well, it was either bound to happen (which almost did several times), or humanity is just that oblivious... I mean we are, but we have our good moments. I haven't seen this episode in 12 years, but it was a solid start to a series with high highs, and low lows...
well i mean thats most super heros yeah like 95% of them wear masks but their dimensions are the same their voices rarely change from their base selves like superman spiderman
I do wonder how this identity revealed thing would work if ben 10 existed in the marvel or dc universe since I'm working on a scenario on merging ben 10s lore with the dc universe as one existing universe
@@DragonspineInfiniteZero to be fair to Superman, he actually does change his voice since Clark was a theater kid and also no one thinks Superman has a secret identity since he doesn’t hide his face. People just think he’s Superman all time and just lives in the fortress of solitude.
Always figured it be unavoidable for Ben not to become publicly known at some point. With Ben 10,000 iterations it also Always seemed like Ben would always become a powerful public figure at some point in his life.
16:30 I always saw it as his powers have evolved after his last mutation. Before he couldn't morph objects, now he can. I like that that mutation was beneficial in the long run. He discovered new things about himself.
After my rewatch, if you pay attention Paradox says that Kevin needed the mutation to happen when Gwen attempts to change the past. I saw that as him saying that Kevin needed the reason to further is powers in this way. His mutation forced him to experiment and allowed him to morph is body, something that he needed to have happen in order to grow.
I don’t think Ben was afraid of his ultimate transformations cause he was afraid of them having sentient life; I think it was because he didn’t know in what he could turn. He didn’t want to endanger himself and the ones around him.
Yeah, I think that there was even an episode about that and overcoming that fear. The Eggman Cometh if I'm not mistaken. One of the last regular episodes before the end of UA.
Holy smokes that intro is everything!! the animation, the music!! its like a rock version of the UA score!! i prefer it over the original! cant imagine how long that must have taken, and everything that went into making it possible but damn it's worth it!! hats off to you!!
To be frank, I loved Ultimate Alien. Sure, it had it's problems, what Ben 10 series doesn't but it does a lot of things well. For one, it helps tie-in into the Ben 10,000 storyline, we get to see more of the universe around the characters, and we get some of the best character moments in the franchise. It may not be perfect, but it still holds it's place in the OG canon.
27:58 honestly a more reasonable explanation for Cromastone being electrocuted would be that the water managed to blast through his upper layers, causing the water to soak his internals enough that the electricity manged to effect him.
@@fallen5983 I mean, I just imagine that Primus just has like, a thousand hard drives full of DNA samples and sometimes those drives just screw up a bit.
Something to note about Ultimate Alien visuals is that while UA shares the same character design and overall artstyle as Alien Force the ANIMATION is actually a lot different. This is because during that time UA was animating by a different studio than the one they usually had. You actually start to notice this when you compare certain scenes with AF and how AF had a lot more smooth and flowing animation while UA (though having some great visuals) can look a bit stiff.
@@ufazig it's not just fighting scenes even times when characters are talking, AF would give a lot more fluid expression with their dialogue or poses while UA often just have their character stagnant with only their arms and face moving. Again UA can have great visuals it's just we refer to both AF and UA as a whole referring to UAF since they share alot of similar things (mainly the art style) but I feel like the animation as a whole separates them both.
@@ravindupadmanath2802 Overall, I don't think it's fair to tack UA on to AF and simply call it AF 2.0. For one, AF has completely different tones, themes, visuals, slightly more nuance, and a wholly smoother and superior presentation. (Just look at Ben 10 Returns: Parts 1 and 2)
Speaking of Visual and whole animation. Things changed alot from AF season 3. We got some new soundtrack the sudden change in personality and so on. If you are used to watching Alien Force season 1 and 2 And then shift to season 3 you will notice big jump and Ultimate Alien have changed alot such as Ben's eyes went from being oval shaped to trapezium shapes in later episodes.
Love how jimmy is the only person in the whole franchise at this point to put the pieces together of symbols on the aliens and bens watch being exactly the same
@@adv8882 i am pretty sure during those times of OG era ben would at least get caughton footage at least once or twice if the entire feedback fplot was a dwayne mcduffie idea at the time of UA, it would have been really cool had they tried to introduce him here (and maybe other aliens ben had access but lost due to omnitrix recalibration) among footage and photos of ben's aliens used before even better if they had ben react in a very cold and angry reaction towards feedback photo.and have jimmy and kevin (someone else who doesn't know about it), wondering "what happened?"

KURO THE ARTIST HERE! I’M SO EXCITED TO TALK ABOUT ULTIMATE ALIEN!!!”
@@jasonnguyen2575 well to be fair, Kuro WAS burnt out, it's not like he didn't enjoy doing af breakdowns, and the past few breakdowns where he didn't have to edit as much cuz of the shorter breakdowns, he was really enthusiastic, he's about the same here, but excited about ua, as anyone would be
12:45 Yeah, that felt very last minute by the crew. Realizing they had all this set up and forgot to give it a payoff due to focusing on the Aggregor Arc as well as writing for the Dagon Arc. So they hobbled The Ultimate Sacrifice together for “resolution”.
ultimate sacrifice might've been a rushed and truncated version of what was gonna happen, heck maybe they do escape and want to kill ben and new ultimates may be born by ben trying to use the feature after the fact... think Ghostfreak I guess
I really like the idea of Ben's identity being public. Not many Superhero shows deal with that idea in a permanent way like Ben 10 did. Most superheroes get their ids reviled then they undo it at some point, but with Ben, once it was out there it stayed out there. I like this deviation from the norm, and it brings conflicts to the show that other superheroes don't tackle.
Yeah, but other heroes have their reasons for secret identities and why they wear masks. They don't wear it to hide their faces, they wear it to protect it. And if anybody knew who they are, then their friends and family would be in serious danger. Like targets for the enemies they battled so much, that they can use as leverage or a way to make them suffer. But certain people sees masked heroes as cowards for wearing them, others would see from their perspective that they will have future enemies and people getting hurt if exposed. And reporters or journalists would do anything to expose them for a big promotion or being known for fame and fortune.
So I know that it isn't directly a "Hero Time", but I think that Spidermonkey's line before going Ultimate of "There's a time to go hero and there's a time to go Ultimate" could count towards the Hero Time counter because it is a direct play on the "Hero Time" line.
True, a lot of the “go hero”s before this could count too as that was the pending catchphrase in OS before “Hero Time”. The thing is Kuro didn’t count previous times Ben’s said “go hero” so doing this would mess with the counter.
You know, it is kinda funny how this episode had Ben worried about going back to school and what would his classmates think of him now being recognizced as public hero when I am pretty sure this is THE LAST TIME we actually see Ben attending school to actually go to classes during the entirety of UA and Omniverse. In Omniverse they even made a joke of him getting a college degree for saving the a university almost as a way to say why he doesn't need to finish his studies We even see him going to Plumber academy instead of seeing him go to a normal mundane high school in UA To the point you could assume he just dropped out of High school offscreen.
@@Tony-oh Yeah, also, it would be interesting to see him quite high school because his enemies knows his identity. Edit: to be more specific, a arc based around that.
Watching these breakdowns made me realize how many plot lines lead nowhere/ get dropped, like how much emphasis bens transformations taking damage in alien force, or here with ben’s ultimate forms and the pink eyes. Just feels odd with them being in the first episode with big placement on it.
Personally, I kinda like the idea that perhaps Ben's pink eyes was leading to something with Anodites. Maybe not the best idea, but it could have been interesting. Perhaps with how Ben evolving his aliens caused a small bit of evolution in Ben, leading him to begin showing the "spark" that Gwen has. They ended up scrapping it because Gwen would become irrelevant if they went forward with that. I don't know, but colors are usually pretty important in Ben 10, and pink usually means mana/magic/Anodite stuff.
@@cdesigner9178 makes me wonder if Ultimate Ben was a nod to that like Ben would learn mana control eventually and then have minor abilities to help him out
@@Xeno-The-Wanderer Ooooo, that would have been awesome! That was another thing Ultimate Alien kinda left hanging. They kinda make a big note of it, then never get back to it. Pity that the whole UAF runs of Ben 10 had so many plotlines that led nowhere. Come to think of it, the OG series had a few moments like that, too. I guess that Ben 10 sometimes just gets too ambitious.
@@cdesigner9178, if you mean inconsistent about colors, you’re correct. The eyes being pink is actually an error as said by Charlotte Fullerton. Also, like why would evolving his aliens would have him showing the spark? You realize that Ben doesn’t have the spark right? They’re either born with it or not. Ultimate Ben just kinda shows that any human can learn magic, and Ben 10,000 is maximizing the power of humanity. Nothing more. Also no offense, but dude what are on? *The crew ALWAYS INTENDED FOR BEN NOT TO HAVE ANODITE TRAITS.* You literally pointed out why lol. You should see the BS they pulled in the online message boards to justify it.
On the topic of the mind activation: Azmuth says he considers the Ultimatrix to be his crowning achievement so far and has added several additions to the omnitrix to make it easier for Ben to use. I always saw the mind activation as a feature Azmuth put in to help Ben, incase his other arm was caught or grabbed, so he wouldn't need both hands to activate the device.
24:50 Yes, there is indeed a spacecraft concept known as "Project Orion". It was proposed that in the 1960s, we could use atomic bombs detonating behind a spacecraft to propel it really quickly (at a far distance from the crew area with radiation protection) through space to take us to other planets and even other solar systems. Several prototypes were built and tested in the early 60s but all research ended around that time due to the nuclear test ban treaty of 1963. A concept of it exists via sending it high up enough via an SI-C (Saturn V first stage) and then "igniting it" (or rather detonating it) at an high altitude for radiation protection. So tl;dr It does work and has been seriously considered.
There's also the problem of something going wrong during the launch. If it falls and gets destroyed, which is far from unheard of when it comes to rockets, you'll have quite a nasty mess to clean up when dealing with nukes.
I never hated Omniverse as I loved Tranformers Animated. But I still enjoy the UAF era, and recently rewatched the entire series while following the breakdowns that Kuuro generously blesses us with. I don’t agree that you have to hate one to love another. U can love any and all versions.
@@AzraelMight well I guess it failed I personally love it but my problem was it’s fans always deflecting the blame of the show and tries to criticize Omniverse instead out of nowhere which I dislike
@@ibreathairunfortunatelyish4444 the reason why most people hated omniverse is simple it was resentment for UA seeing the direction of it and the abandonment of the growth of Ben when they saw omniverse they could only see it through the doom lens of the negatives of ultimate alien and to be fair in that opinion they were right Ben was far more like his childish self there were multiple character inconsistencies across the show the change to a less realistic art style the aliens it’s this combination of factors that made people realize the show wasn’t for them anymore for the audience that grew with Ben 10
In general I always found the Andromeda aliens underutilized, but none so much as Water Hazard. It's been implied in multiple scenes that his species is really really durable. So while his physical strength isn't enough to make him a powerhouse, I feel like there are many scenes where Ben needed to take a heavy hit and Water Hazard would have been a good choice.
really, all of the Andromeda 5 except for Ampfibian are note worthy for their defensive capabilities; that's a major reason why Aggregor chose them: Bivalvin- water pressure immunity Galapagus- magic immunity Pandore- energy and radiation resistance Andreas- physical durability
@@lick28 the blue electric alien of the Andrmeda five is given the name "Ampfibian" when used by Ben; though I'm not sure what it has to do with actual amphibians 🤷♂️
Yes!!! New breakdown. The intro is sick and the theme is from Cosmic Destruction. I like all 4 series, including Ultimate Alien even if Ben has inconsistent personality.
What if Ben still had some subconsciousness active during those millions of years of evolution in the Ultimatrix. So using these forms consistently made Ben eventually go insane. This making him more, and more unhinged/willing to kill his enemies
@@SiddharthShenoy The symbiote didn’t make Spider-Man or Venom crazy, the symbiote in the original story just made him tired and more irritable because it took control of Peter when he slept, and it never made him inherently angrier besides the movie. In most stories it’s just a voice that tells the host to submit to their deepest desires.
Makes sense. It's also worth noting those aliens go through millions of years of simulated warfare evolution, and there really is no guarantee that what comes out will be able to be controlled or even sentient for that matter.
16:30 It's possible the door had a metal reinforcement that the door knob was attached to. Front doors typically are reinforced with something so that they're not just light, basic doors like the one's used for bedrooms so that a rogue can't just kick it in.
the extranet Gwen refers to in this episode sounds like it could be an actual extranet, which just means it's a private server for the plumbers with limited data stored on it that can be accessed by anyone with permission, as opposed to the space internet in Omniverse
I remember when UA first aired I had DVR'd it so I was pausing every few seconds during the intro trying to notice every alien possible and I remember being so excited thinkin "Wow! They're bringing all the aliens back! I can't wait to see them all show up again" aaaaand then they didn't lol
Ultimate Alien's the same for me, it's about when I REALLY got into the series, and Fame just... takes everything up a step. A new status quo, new vehicles, new aliens and a brand new villain. It's just fantastic. And speaking of fantastic, THAT INTRO! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
You forgot to mention that Ben never unlocked Buzzshock in Classic either lol. He also never actually uses Spitter if I remember correctly. As far as I'm aware, the only time Spitter is ever used was literally his debut episode when he was used by Ben 10,000. Ben Prime himself never did.
@@axelnilsson5124 I mean at least Buzzshock and Arctiguana were used in Omniverse, but unfortunately Spitter was never used on screen after his appearance in the future.
I mean Ben 10k in UA said "I put everything you've ever transformed before in your playlist" "Also threw in a few new ones, because it'll annoy Azmuth if he finds out". So maybe he accidentally added the other aliens he saw in the past. It explains why he was able to use Wildmutt and XLR8(in the crossover of Generator Rex)
The big difference between Harangue and Jameson is that Jameson is willing to admit when he’s wrong and even praise Spider-Man for doing a good job, although it’s usually when someone besides Peter is behind the mask.
Even then, it’s rare when it happens. There are moments that show he isn’t a complete piece of shit, like when villains are looking for Peter Parker because he’s the photographer that takes pictures of Spider-Man, JJ won’t give him up. Then there’s other times where he is an actual piece of shit, like when he funded the creation of Scorpion.
To be fair Harangue is based on early Jameson. They even recreate a story from one the classic Spiderman comics where Jameson teams up with Spidercide… though, it’s been so long I might be misremembering which series it was from. Part of me wants to say it might of actually happened in Omniverse but I’m pretty sure it’s from UA.
@@VidelxSpopovich Are you referring to the episode where Ben is tricked into putting on a motion capture suit so that Harangue can use the data to fight Ben with a robot?
@@VidelxSpopovich may be Omniverse, when Harangue funds the remaining Forever Knights to make a highbreed weather machine wipe out all aliens on earth (however harangue didn't know that was their plan)
Water Hazard is underrated imo. Neat water powers, surprising strength and insane durability. Wish we could have seen more of him, I liked his Omniverse look a lot as well.
I think the thing with how chromastone got electrocuted was bc it was conducting through water, it could be the case that he can’t absorb energy that’s traveling through another medium besides air, or maybe since electricity is bro g conducted through water, he can’t separate them, that would be a valid reason
I love Ultimate Alien. It takes the more fun aspect of early/late Ben 10 and sprinkles a bit of the Alien Force edge on top of it to what I think is a nearly perfect tone for the series. Probably my favorite of the 4 Prime shows
@@Omniblox Similar to Transformers Cyberverse and TTG. It's a fundamentally fine series that is just kind of emblematic of the overall dumbing down of children's entertainment
One of my main criticisms with Ultimate Alien would probably be the lack of alien transformation variety. The intro lead us to believe that all the aliens from the original series would be reappearing, and the five new Andromeda aliens all have really cool designs in my opinion. But in the end we mostly just ended up seeing more of the aliens from the previous series, with Humungosaur being the worst offender in terms of hogging the spotlight. This also extends to the new Ultimate Alien feeling heavily under-utilised, with only eight being seen by the end. In this episode for instance, what if instead of Chromastone reappearing inexplicably, Water Hazard got used for the first time after scanning Bivalvan? The latter could end up mistaking him for another of his species being stranded on Earth, and would end up taking him back to his ship unconscious while Gwen and Kevin track him down. This could also lead to a moment where Ben and Bivalvan sit down and talk, helping to give the latter some humanity. I'm not saying that I would bench the Alien Force roster, but I do think it would be nice if the show cycled between different aliens more.
The Andromeda 5 also got underused, also some the powers the Andromeda 5 had were pretty underwhelming, like water hazard could have been a waterbender but nah, they didn't do that, although, I heard a statement from Eugene son that water hazard had the ability to use water like poseidon, am pretty sure you can find the statement in the ben 10 wiki.
@@au7923 how they used the andromeda 5 reminds me of how the halloween aliens (frankenstrike, blitzwolfer, and snare-oh) were just forgotten in the original show you would think that after fused, ben would, by choice at least try to focus on the andromeda 5 aliens as a way "to use their power to save them", but nope.... if anything the only times he uses the andromeda 5 against aggregor is using amphibian accidentally (and discovering he can breathe underwater in that form), NRG accidentally during forge of creation, and only using terraspin willingly in forge of creation
@@ianr.navahuber2195 Another thing is, didn't Ben state he would use the Andromeda 5 against aggregor or something like that? But he only uses one of them.
I remember being one of the only like 15 people who was excited by OV's art style when it was first teased, Derrick J Wyatt's always been the man and his style was basically a toonier version of Murakami's anyway. It was perplexing as hell to me that people were angry that Ben 10 was gonna look like TFA, the BEST Transformers show with the best art style of that franchise. That intro is AMAZING by the way, WOW!
I hated it at first but now it's hit or miss for me. They improved on a lot but also downgraded a lot as well. For the most part I like a lot of the alien redesigns but there's a few like Big Chill, Echo Echo, Goop, Chromastone, blossomed Swampfire to name a few that I think look absolutely horrendous
For me I just really didn't like it honestly, it never stuck with me and some of the redesigns just felt kinda ugly. Overall my main dislike comes from the fact it took a step back from the more serious tone that UAF put forward, which I know was entirely the point but that's just my opinion.
The art is fine but I don't like what they did do big chill and that bloxx even exists. Ben sometimes is a bit too dumb and jokes around too much and isn't serious as often as UAF... Some of the things he does/says made me cringe. Also they really messed up Charmcaster character
Both Ultimate Alien and Omniverse fixed a lot of my issues with Alien Force. Ultimate Alien I think, compared to Alien Force, does a better job at balancing bringing back elements of the Classic Series while also telling its own original story arcs
I don’t mind his identity being exposed, because he’s been very open with transforming in plain sight in Alien Force (and a little bit in Classic), plus ALL his rogues gallery knows who he is as well.
I don't like Kevin's car, or Rustbucket 3 being green, cause that feels more like it's themed around Ben than Kevin. So I like that Omniverse gave him a dark blue car with the numer 11 on it. Good for him.
Ultimate alien did a lot of great things(like it’s mature themes) for the series and episodes like Ultimate Power helped show how mature Ben had become. Also I hope I’m not the only one who like Kevin’s UA form more than the OG series And yeah ik the series isn’t perfect but no Ben 10 series is
24:45 Unsuprisingly using nukes to propel rockets did cross the minds of early rocket scientists, but it was quickly abandoned, because back then nukes were hard to make in large quatities. More importantly the method of using explosions is not really precise enough to maneuver a spaceship. The consitent and controllable nature of regular chemical fuel is better suited for space missions.
Kuro has become a part of my life thanks to Ben 10 I get to watch someone who is just as big a fan as I am (if not more lol) of Ben 10 and thanks to that mutual love I found kuro with his amazing art and awesome breakdowns. Ben 10 is more than a show; it’s a community
Actually the way Kevin covers himself in metal makes perfect sense based on the way its constructed that doorknob would likely have alot of metal in it as it appears to have two locking mechanisms a knob made of metal and that entire lock area seems to just be a block of metal i might be getting it wrong because I know British and US locks are different
Great work, as always Kuro. Very excited to see the Ultimate Alien breakdowns with the new intro. Some random toughts on this episode: - I always tought Bivalvan just shorted Chromastone out with his water, like how Jetray beats Ra'ad a few episodes in the future. Never knew it was a focus issue officialy - Add "Kevin, disconnect that torch!" to the list of things Gwen could've done. Gwen could've kept up the shield, Ben keeps Bivalvan busy as Spidermonkey and Kevin could've hit the off switch or something. I don't see why they both need to be shielded - I don't understand the UA hate either. Every series has its good and bad episodes. Personaly, I think some of the best episodes of the entire series are from UA: The Charmcaster episodes, Perplexahedron, the Jenifer Nocturne episodes are some of my favorite episodes
I personally really like that Ben is scared of his Ultimate transformations in Ultimate Alien, it gives off this vibe that the Ultimates are not what they seem and makes it feel like Alien Force season 1 and 2 with the whole mystery element to it, As for Ben’s pink eyes, I think they were setting up an arc with Ben being an anidite like Gwen, either there’s an anidite in his Ultimatrixe or he somehow becomes one but I think he literally is one and I like the idea of there being an arc where he learns he is anidite and he needs to go to Gwen’s home planet to defeat something with his anidite powers and his Ultimatrix but at the end when he defeats it he has to choose between being an anidite or having his Ultimatrix basically like in the Esoteric arc with the Sword and too much power
Headcanon to try and explain the inconsistent methods of activating the omnitrix devices: There are both physical and mental methods of operating the device. This was done so that those who were intelligent enough could figure it out as soon as it bonded to them but the manual method was put in as an alternative step for beings who may or may not have the capacity to use the mental method but just can't figure it out(no being is truly perfect). Inconsistencies involving the use of manual method over the other when the wielder is very much capable of using the more convenient mental method could just be an in-the-moment decision. Headcanon isn't perfect, but best I can try to come up with.
I actually went frame by frame on the breakdown intro, and the animation is incredible! The starting scene alone is classic series quality animation, bravo
Loved the ep breakdown as always but I can’t help to think about what you said in the intro as we dive into UA. I’m someone who kinda jumped around every Ben 10 series expect OV, it being the most consistent one I probably watched, so I’m particular bias towards it-especially it’s art style even if some redesigns are wacky-but I can still see and acknowledge it’s flaws. So hearing that the fandom now praises it would make me happy if it weren’t for what you just said they do to UA now. It’s disappointing that the Ben 10 fandom has fallen into a trend I see happen in almost every fandom with multiple different series, where the one that was hated back in the day is getting praised but the one that used to be praised is now getting unnecessarily hate. It always bugs me because it seems people lack the self awareness of this mindset and just kinda sheep together. I totally get feeling the pain of getting something you loved hated on by the fandom-I know it, way too well-but the moment it starts getting praise you shouldn’t use it as a opportunity to crap on something other people who hated on what you liked use to love, you should be happy that the series is finally getting recognition and move on. There’s no point to really let those past experiences still get you that you revert to attacking others for something so small, after all, we all like Ben 10 right? Long Rant aside that probably won’t even get read, I really hope your breakdowns do open up the mind of people for when you cover those good episodes. I don’t know if it’ll change the whole fandom state-your unfortunately not that powerful ahaha-but I hope it give slowly bring a positive change since all the series deserve their recognition and love.
Maybe the ultimate transformation dropped plot line would’ve been something related to how cruel and violent the actual process is to achieve the new forms? I’m going off memory so correct me if I’m wrong, but it takes the alien/DNA and puts them through centuries of constant WAR to literally get a new evolutionary line of warlord alien forms, which is….crazy imo lol so maybe tapping into that puts BEN thru the emotional trauma that the alien/DNA feels and then the more he uses it, maybe it would’ve started having physical affects on his mind and body?? Ex. He gets more violent, maybe even messes with his OWN DNA and starts evolving him?? Idk
9:35 Boy, it sure would be a shame if only like... 6 of the aliens from the classic series come back and most of those were just one-offs. Also, I just realized they never updated the theme song to include the new aliens from later in this series. 24:00 This would have been the _perfect_ chance to bring back Lieutenant Steel. You could even have a line referencing when they met with Steel saying 'Real strange to think that four-armed alien that saved me from falling off that bridge was a ten-year-old,' and then Kevin looked away awkwardly. 32:32 Maybe it would have led to a story about the Ultimatrix enhancing Ben's Anodite DNA? Possibly leading to him gaining a new transformation or ultimate form? 33:22 No no, it's just a really stylized 1.
The way he describes UA vs OV fans at the starts makes me think of modern pokemon gen 1 vs gen 5 fan stuff, though for both im pretty sure most normal fans enjoy both on each
thats fanbases for you. though ill admit im part of the camp that thinks the games have been going downhill since gen 6 to where the downsides are starting to outweigh the upsides. the only difference is ive been kissing b2w2 since the day they came out rather than jumping on the bandwagon. my only opinion on pokemon that has changed is a lower one of hgss because of all its problems.

Gen 6 was sort of a reboot when it came to shift between 2d to 3d and being more interactive with your pokemon as opposed to only using them for contests and battles. Not to mention both crowds feeling like they have to mention the existence of reboot/gen 6+ era even if the conversation isn't about those two, just to create a place for theirselves to talk about how much it sucks.

I really love the intro you made. Can I suggest that you use the 5yl versions of the aliens shown in it. It's fine if you don't, it is still an amazing intro.
9:15 so how I thought it worked as a kid is that whenever he would put his arm out or put his other hand near the ultimatrix it would detect either the movement of his arm or the proximity of his other hand and activate for him, and nowadays we have apple watches that automatically turn on when you raise it to your face, so my headcanon is that it works like the Apple Watch, though I have no idea if that’s actually how it works
32:34 Ok so I'm just totally making stuff up on the spot, BUT here me out. Albedo created the Ultimate DNA to be more combat focused rather than natural evolution. With that, that could lead to natural corruption of said DNA. Like changes in Ben's personality and thought process. As well as corruption of the physical form itself. Like Ultimate Humguasour's bullets makes him arms useless for a while so something. With this corruption of their physical form and mind, the feedback after using Ultimate leaks into his human form. Trying to rewrite his human DNA into an Ultimate Human... However, the major problem with that is that human CAN NOT evolve anymore. So, it starts negatively impacting his mind and body because it's trying so hard to force him to become Ultimate Ben.
I remember growing up mistaking Will Harangue with Senator Kelly from Wolverine and the X-Men. They both had similar designs and were both a-holes to people that were different and "dangerous" so I thought they were the same character or based on the same person.
Never noticed that there was an artstyle change between classic and AF/UA, untill the breakdowns. Though, I did have a negative reaction to the reveal of Omnivers artstyle, just for how different it was. Did never watch that show. Was already behind on UA, and Omni just began airing when there was no time for tv anymore. I will find it very interesting whenever the breakdowns reach that point.
I got too old to enjoy Ben 10 when Omniverse came out. And ultimate alien felt a bit bleh after Alien force. But I watched Omniverse a couple of years ago and it's my favourite Ben 10 show now. It's a slow start and they really screwed up the airing order (watch it production order, it's much better). But the amount of easter eggs and references was amazing. And the artstyle has really held up well.
I didn’t have a big reaction to ov as I didn’t know it existed until I turned on the tv and there it was i was confused for a bit but I’ve grown to like it’s artstyle even if i prefer UAF but honestly alot of design choices in OV are 50 50 for me as alot of things look better or as good as they’ve ever been while alot of other things are just why

A theory I've had for a while about the Ultimate Aliens was they were originally going to be a superpowered evil-side for Ben. I think this got scapped because CN thought Ben being evil like that would have hurt the brand.
He, indeed, does look angry after de-transforming from U-Spider Monkey. Maybe the evolutionary function gives the form a survival view and a need to fight at any second, giving Ben a feeling a dread and anger. As when transforming back, this feeling could explain his avoidance of going ultimate.
I actually really liked it. The whole of the celestial sapient arc. its leadup and its aftermath is some of the best the show ever provided in storytelling.
I feel like Ben’s character model did actually get a slight update. In AF, Ben had very bright blue pants and in UA, they seem a little more navy or at least a little bit of a darker shade. Maybe it’s just me, but something I noticed.
Ultimate Alien was personally my favourite although I still see it as a missed opportunity Could've been the ben 10 series where ben fully got master control More classic aliens could've been used since AF established it's alien forms( would've loved to see XLR8) The ben 10 / generator Rex movie used the ultimatrix best way and I wish ultimate alien did the same
35:26 Exactly, i feel like in every show even when its pulled off right the fans hate on stuff like that because fans only look at the MC's perspective and not the other characters'.
I think head canon ben using the ultimatrix without actually having to select an alien could be a feature either azmuth included when designing the unfinished ultimatrix core or albedo included or even maybe it’s a hidden feature for all of the omnitrixes similar to how the omnitrix prevents ben from dying in some occasions or master control.
How you describe Ben 10 Omiverse seem to go threw what I call the Wind Waker effect. A devisive new addition to a franchise but years later people love it. Happens all the time
For the longest time I refused to watch omniverse because of how different it was, but a few years ago I decided to try to watch the entire series from classic to omniverse and now most of what I remember about the show is from omniverse. Whenever I think back to enjoying the series it’s mostly memories of watching omniverse… as significantly different as it was, it still felt just like watching UAF.
OV got too much hate for no reason when it honestly was >/= to the OG series and really took all the good from its predecessors while remaining a bright, fun, and entertaining cartoon experience. AF and UF to a lesser degree were too predicated on their linear story progression which was not present in the OG or OV outside of the smaller story arcs each had, which allowed for more fun "random" episodes and lore building. OV isn't perfect and some retcons are definitely questionable, but it's probably the most rewatchable of the 4.
it was just way way to childish to me, in my defense I only watched one season and did not continue but I heard of some good ideas and villains they had like that Malware villain
Having rewatched episodes of UA, I still like it. I get there's stuff that people don't like in it, and even I grew tired of the relationship drama between Ben and Julie. But its still a fun series, and reminds me of a much simpler time in my life. Plus this series gave us the most hardcore moments for Ben in the entire franchise.
I really enjoyed UA's first season as well as some other episodes later on. I really like Agreggor. I think he was intimidating, effective and a cool concept for a villain. Though I do dislike the fact that the Trio often fights him in very stupid ways. A consequence of the lackluster fight scenes and poor fight choreography of UA (one of the issues I have with the show). Another issue I and a lot of people have was, ironically, the small amount of ultimates. Personally, I think all of the first AF aliens and the 10 origjnal aliens should have had ultimates. Though I understand this is much more down to personal preference. Another issue I had with it was that after ultimate Kevin, things get so much episodic for so long. Honestly feel like there should've been a second arc prior to it. Finally, something I noticed is that Trio at times is...too inefficient at fighting. Especially Ben. He gets stomped so easily in some episodes, it's annoying to see. The first Agreggor fight, Helena almost killing him and Mama Vreddle are prime examples that come to mind.
Personally one of the gripes I have is how the Andromeda aliens were captured back by Aggregor because how they do it are filled with plot conveniences. Like in this episode, the group just assumed that the plumbers will get him and they just left Bivalvan there. Surely if they’re heroes they would’ve stayed with him or bring him along at least. The worst one is the Armodrillo alien tho, where after he sacrificed himself to contain the explosion, the group didn’t seem to make an effort to search him among the debris. Surely Gwen could use her powers to sense his vitality. Or for Ben to turn Humungosaur to search him under the rubbles. Instead the group just assumed he’s dusted for good. Surprise, surprise, tracking the vitality was how Aggregor found him. He took more effort to get this guy than the group who’s supposed to be heroes i guess. They wanted to make Aggregor seem more intimidating, but it’s at the cost of the group and the Plumbers being so incompetent.
@@langletprolet8378 I agree. The episode in which the Plumbers are just casually attacked by Agreggor is also an issue. Was that never investigated? Was Ben not briefed at all on this incident?
I remember all the hype I had for ultimate alien when it first came out and ultimate humongosaur. I even wanted to be ultimate humongosaur for my last Halloween to bad party city didn't have the costume
Honestly I really love Ultimate Alien and the idea of Ben evolving his aliens, I think the pink eyes could’ve lead towards something similar to Ghostfreak where the ultimates are sentient making it harder for him to transform back
@@blueeyedduelist6412, I’m not saying I do or don’t. It just strikes me as weird that you would try to think up something that’s actually already in the series and what this plotline ultimately (heh heh) paid off to.
For me as a Ben 10 fan, my lost remembered stuff was Alien Force. I had watched the original as a kid and I remember the commercials coming out for Alien Force and I remembered playing all the Ben 10 games on Cartoon Network website. Good times as a kid.
I was always wondered why did they replaced dee Bradley baker as Humongousaur in OV when they were able to get him as Big chill. I didn’t know that he was having that much trouble with Humongousaur’s Voice. I prefer his version over John DiMaggio’s but I guess even legendary voice actors can have trouble doing certain voices.
They should've kept his ultimate version abilities in omniverse. Azmuth could've upgraded alien evolution without overtampering the watch.
@@christianhenry4173
I kinda prefer Ben not having Ultimates.

Always figured it be unavoidable for Ben not to become publicly known at some point. With Ben 10,000 iterations it also Always seemed like Ben would always become a powerful public figure at some point in his life.
Considering a lot of villains have seen his face and know his full name, it hardly seems like any more of a hazard to his public identity anyhow.
16:30 I always saw it as his powers have evolved after his last mutation. Before he couldn't morph objects, now he can.
I like that that mutation was beneficial in the long run. He discovered new things about himself.
I always saw it that way as well.
Thats better than my interpretation, i used to believe he could always have done that but didnt realised he could until he got mutated
True he could even make weapons out of his body after the mutations
I don’t think Ben was afraid of his ultimate transformations cause he was afraid of them having sentient life; I think it was because he didn’t know in what he could turn. He didn’t want to endanger himself and the ones around him.

Assuming this is true, it would explain the absurdly lackluster fight scenes.

Yeah facts
True, a lot of the “go hero”s before this could count too as that was the pending catchphrase in OS before “Hero Time”.
The thing is Kuro didn’t count previous times Ben’s said “go hero” so doing this would mess with the counter.
Same with going hero in classic and he never once counted them as part of the hero time counter
You know, it is kinda funny how this episode had Ben worried about going back to school and what would his classmates think of him now being recognizced as public hero when I am pretty sure this is THE LAST TIME we actually see Ben attending school to actually go to classes during the entirety of UA and Omniverse. In Omniverse they even made a joke of him getting a college degree for saving the a university almost as a way to say why he doesn't need to finish his studies
We even see him going to Plumber academy instead of seeing him go to a normal mundane high school in UA

kinda wish there was a compilation of these hints, would be interesting to see what it could be gleamed from them
Personally, I kinda like the idea that perhaps Ben's pink eyes was leading to something with Anodites.

And the part where he sh*ts on it I thought was him talking about albedo’s additions/the frame
Thank you for talking about the UA hate. It’s getting ridiculous at this point.

Can't Wait To See What He's Going To Do For The Omniverse Intro.
That would be interesting to see.
the extranet Gwen refers to in this episode sounds like it could be an actual extranet, which just means it's a private server for the plumbers with limited data stored on it that can be accessed by anyone with permission, as opposed to the space internet in Omniverse

I think both were originally going to debut in ultimate alien but Cartoon Network made them scrap that idea for some reason
@@axelnilsson5124
I mean at least Buzzshock and Arctiguana were used in Omniverse, but unfortunately Spitter was never used on screen after his appearance in the future.
@TheGlassesPro
That sucks
I mean Ben 10k in UA said "I put everything you've ever transformed before in your playlist" "Also threw in a few new ones, because it'll annoy Azmuth if he finds out". So maybe he accidentally added the other aliens he saw in the past. It explains why he was able to use Wildmutt and XLR8(in the crossover of Generator Rex)
Dude, that Kuro 10/Ultimate Kuro intro was amazing! If ben 10 ever gets a 'what if?' type spin-off, you should totally get a cameo in the omniverse 😂
Then there’s other times where he is an actual piece of shit, like when he funded the creation of Scorpion.
or in PS4 Spider-Man where he literally says Vulture dying from cancer is perfectly okay

I believe so too
Water Hazard is underrated imo.
Probably my favorite of the 4 Prime shows
What are your opinions on the Reboot?
@@Omniblox Similar to Transformers Cyberverse and TTG. It's a fundamentally fine series that is just kind of emblematic of the overall dumbing down of children's entertainment
@@fortheloveofgodlaugh2981 Ok, thanks for your opinion.
@TheGlassesPro Thanks for your opinion.
24:58 YES HE DOES. Waterhazard is EXTREMELY under-used.
I have to say, it's good that Ben's identity is out cause it helps the the team in getting people out of the danger they are facing.
I love how alien x is running in the intro like someone owes him money
I love Bakugan.
I guess that’s the reason why omniverse heavily utilized the classic aliens more than the uaf aliens
@@axelnilsson5124 ironically omniverse is basically same problem but the opposite
@@au7923 how they used the andromeda 5 reminds me of how the halloween aliens (frankenstrike, blitzwolfer, and snare-oh) were just forgotten in the original show
you would think that after fused, ben would, by choice at least try to focus on the andromeda 5 aliens as a way "to use their power to save them", but nope.... if anything the only times he uses the andromeda 5 against aggregor is using amphibian accidentally (and discovering he can breathe underwater in that form), NRG accidentally during forge of creation, and only using terraspin willingly in forge of creation
@@BRG_Rain I never got why bloxx is so hated. He's a gorilla and gorillas are cool. Sure we ultimate spider monkey but he wasn't interesting visually.
@@NonStopKnocks ultimate spidermonkey is really cool. Bloxx is a Lego gorilla that's stupid
Both Ultimate Alien and Omniverse fixed a lot of my issues with Alien Force. Ultimate Alien I think, compared to Alien Force, does a better job at balancing bringing back elements of the Classic Series while also telling its own original story arcs
Thank you!! Lol
Agreed
I don’t mind his identity being exposed, because he’s been very open with transforming in plain sight in Alien Force (and a little bit in Classic), plus ALL his rogues gallery knows who he is as well.
I don't like Kevin's car, or Rustbucket 3 being green, cause that feels more like it's themed around Ben than Kevin.
So I like that Omniverse gave him a dark blue car with the numer 11 on it. Good for him.
Yeah omniverse did justice for Kevin's car
Kevin's traditional colors is blue and black or red and black.
28:12 I'd say "the water seeped into tiny imperceptible cracks that let the shock go deeper than a wire to a dry chest does" personally.
Ultimate alien did a lot of great things(like it’s mature themes) for the series and episodes like Ultimate Power helped show how mature Ben had become. Also I hope I’m not the only one who like Kevin’s UA form more than the OG series
And yeah ik the series isn’t perfect but no Ben 10 series is
24:45 Unsuprisingly using nukes to propel rockets did cross the minds of early rocket scientists, but it was quickly abandoned, because back then nukes were hard to make in large quatities.
Kuro's creativity never ceases to amaze me
Great surprise to see this breakdown so soon Kuro! Also... That new intro as well as your comments at the beginning. I was glued to my screen bro🔥🔥🔥
I seriously love the new intro!
Great work, as always Kuro. Very excited to see the Ultimate Alien breakdowns with the new intro.
Some random toughts on this episode:
- I always tought Bivalvan just shorted Chromastone out with his water, like how Jetray beats Ra'ad a few episodes in the future. Never knew it was a focus issue officialy
- Add "Kevin, disconnect that torch!" to the list of things Gwen could've done. Gwen could've kept up the shield, Ben keeps Bivalvan busy as Spidermonkey and Kevin could've hit the off switch or something. I don't see why they both need to be shielded
- I don't understand the UA hate either.
That intro is so good! Didn't expect UA to be out so quickly but the Cosmic Destruction soundtrack sounds so much better than the original intro.
I agree with you completely.
@@pikminman13 Same fam. Not to say Gen 6 on has no good sides, but putting aside HGSS, even with all the cons Gen 5 and before has, they feel like they try to make their pros really stand out
@@darknessknows1235 yea, hence my phrasing of "the downsides outweigh the upsides". there are still upsides. they just get put under for the variety of problems gens 6-8 have that make the games harder to enjoy without playing rom hacks.
And then there's people that hate the reboot more than anything else, which I guess can be paired with gen 6+ crowd.
25:16 I kinda love how the omnitrix basically bullies Ben into collecting the DNA by not letting him transform. A similar situation arises in omniverse where it'll shut off if Ben doesn't get the DNA.

I guess his design and character was inspired by senator Kelly and his occupation and belief was inspired by J Jonah Jameson from Spider-Man
Never noticed that there was an artstyle change between classic and AF/UA, untill the breakdowns.

Ultimate Alien was personally my favourite although I still see it as a missed opportunity
Could've been the ben 10 series where ben fully got master control
More classic aliens could've been used since AF established it's alien forms( would've loved to see XLR8)
The ben 10 / generator Rex movie used the ultimatrix best way and I wish ultimate alien did the same
35:26 Exactly, i feel like in every show even when its pulled off right the fans hate on stuff like that because fans only look at the MC's perspective and not the other characters'.
I was one of those people who were hated for liking Omniverse, I still got PTSD man😔😔😔😔
