    I would argue that Bruce Wayne actually being the mask doesn't diminish the importance of the Bruce Wayne persona. It's just a question of which persona is dominant.

      Did you like BVS? Because that was a detective thriller - as was The Dark Knight.
      The thing is with lists like this is that they can spread misinformation due to the author's misunderstanding of the subject. The DCEU Batman ticked every box that the comic characters offer - for better and for worse - and, regardless of this, a film adaptation doesn't HAVE TO tick any boxes at all; Batman can be a woman dressed in pink, who lives in a cave and is heinously impoverished - it can still be called an adaptation. Faithfulness shouldn't be the guage of quality but, sadly, it is in this day and age.
      It's sad, and it means more misinformation, but there we go.

Just not in recent comics and movies. the 90's to early 2000s' DCAU, The Batman, Brave and the Bold, Beware The Batman all had some sort of detective focus. Neeson supposedly dies in that crash... However, you never see a dead body, Therefore no proof of death.

    Bruce Wayne is the mask, imo, refers to the Playboy Fascade he presents to the world. That is the mask where Batman is much closer to his actual personality, with the Bat motif being the only part of the Dark Knight Detective that is adopted for a presentation to the world in order to instill fear in criminals. But neither as Bruce or as Batman is he really a bat afficianado in the main canon. He just picked it as a tool to help get criminals put off and to react poorly out of fear. Otherwise he'd just wear a plain outfit with plain mask, like in Year One it Mask of the Phantasm.
    Batman _has_ killed on purpose in the earliest Golden Age comics about him by Bob Kane. He used guns and killed if he felt he needed to, even shooting up a car with machine guns mounted to his Batplane on purpose to kill the inhabitants because he saw no other choice.
    PS, Batman is not only a Holmes level fictional detective, he is at least proficient, if not expert, in escape artistry, chemistry, biology, forensics, criminal psychology, criminology and more :)

    Batman has used firearms before. Back when he was the "All Smiles" Batman, he gunned down several criminals with a sub-machine gun he took from them. Batman doesn't kill, unless he does. Him not using firearms and hating firearms, is a fairly recent ret-con. Batman doesn't have an issue with firearms or blame firearms for the death of his parents. He blames criminals and those that enable crime to be so rampant in Gotham City.

    • @bibbyboxx2219
      @bibbyboxx2219 5 лет назад

      No, it wasn't a rairly recent retcon. Batman stopped using guns around the same time that his no-kill rule was implemented in the early 40s. Hell, he didn't even use a grappling gun until the late 80s.

      Well, yes and no. Yes, it was very popular and made Batman an household name, but the comics became way too campy at that time because of the show and if I remember correctly, DC almost canceled the comics because sales were so low. It was editior Julie Schwartz and creative team Dennis O'Neil and Neal Adams that brought Batman back to his darker roots in the 70s , which inspired many more writers and artists to take the character serious again. And then came Frank Miller with Dark Knight Returns in the late 80s which pretty much inspired everything that came afterwards. So, I don't know if you could say Batman 1966 "saved" the franchise if it almost killed it.

  • @blakecromley8736

    Basically, his no killing rule is based on not killing human beings. Sure he trapped KGBeast, but he did escaped. The Joker though, he really didn't kill him at the end of Killing Joke. We all know that their final confrontation was during Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns. Let's not forget, that the person who became the Joker didn't just lose his sanity, he lost his humanity as well.

    Want to know when I checked out of this video and unsubscribed? "The Dark Knight needn't be so dark." First this line is so cheesy that I'm actually surprised it wasn't in either the Adam West show or Batman and Robin the movie. Second this shows that whoever wrote this script knows very little about the subject matter. Batman is not allowed to be happy. Content with existence at best. Is that realistic? No, but we are talking about a usually 35 or older man who has held onto the trauma of his parents dying when he was between the age of 7 and 15. There is no actual canon answer I can find for that one. Anyway that is at best a 20 year old pain that he never lets go of. Even in the best example of this, Batman Mask of the Phantasm, when right before he donned the cowl he visits his parents grave and pleads to not have to go thru with it because and I quote "it doesn't hurt as much anymore". He still does and even though he looks back he still marched forward. What compels a man with so much money that he could actually do good if he wanted to but instead he dresses up and plays a vigilante. In closing, no Batman is not allowed to be happy but that is the characters choice.
    Also I realize I went on a rant but given the title of the video would you expect anything less in response.
