Don't look back, that's not where you're going ---- yes, accept things that have happened in the past, but pay attention to where you're going in the future and focus on that, because that is your life." -Chris Hadfield
Why would anyone dislike this video? This guy is a legend, sad that theres people out there who cant stand to be happy for others. Bravo Chris Hadfield, from fellow Canadians and all those around the world, I thank you for being a wonderful human and inspiring me to be all I can be :)
EVIL Co. He's a man who's achieved greater than you or your kin ever will. Space is there, else NASAs political enemies would've disproved it already. Don't wake up, if you catch my drift.
Mr. Hadfield is the type of people we should be looking up to and gain inspiration from. We place way too much emphasis and energy on worshiping and admiring athletes, movie stars, and the such. Bravo Mr. Hadfield for yours and all astronauts hard work.
As an American, this man is a reminder that it wasn't just America that went to the moon. It was humanity. One small step for a man, one politely large step for Canada.
Chris is an inspiration because he puts it all into perspective. He realizes the value of Mother Earth and humanity's fragile place in the cosmos. He isn't in his profession for fame and glory but to make the whole world a better place by being an ambassador and an educator. His terrific "down to earth" personality and charisma has rekindled the interest of millions of young people not only in space but also about our fragile planet. Humble but SO accomplished. The human race needs more of his kind to explore, discover and keep the spark of adventure alive. What a legacy. He is a man who lived life to the max but did so for the benefit of many.
thats awesome that his hometown named a street, park, and school after him He reminds me a lot of Jim Lovell. Accomplished so much but still kept his humility & sense of humor
Hi , I am from Czech Republic ( somewhere in the middle of Europe) and I really like Chris , his job, his voice when he is singing. Be glad you have him.
Je suis en train de lire votre livre et vous êtes le héros que tous les enfants du monde devraient imités , bravo pour tout ce que vous êtes! Grand-maman très fière d'être canadienne!
Love how he talked about once, as a pilot, intercepting a Soviet jet, then 10 years later, he was working with Russians on the ISS. A shining example of international cooperation and success indeed.
This guy is the realisation of all my childhood dreams. Sadly calculus and my inability to understand it prevented me from pursuing any engineering fields. So now Im a nurse. Pursuing a different kind of exploration.
you can totally still apply as astronaut so long as you got at least a bachelors in any stem field, which includes medicine. Don't count yourself out quite yet!
As Chris Hadfield said in his song ISS (Is Somebody Singing)- "You can't make out borders from up here, just a spinning ball within a tiny atmosphere." The fights our nations have is meaningless. One wants to kill everyone, and one wants to make the other just like they are. That is usually how the 2 sides of war are. Neither of them get what they want and end up with many people dead for nothing.
I like and appreciate many actors and athletes talent. But every time I hear about Chris Hadfield, I have a whole different feeling of admiration. It is something that no actors nor athletes can compete.
The remarkable Chris Hadfield - an intelligent ,perceptive astronaut who is not afraid to say that being in space is awe-inspiring to him. When he said his handhold was "the only link to 6 billion people, history, beauty, poetry and everything that is human " ,I nearly forgot to breathe.
I was 8 when my parents let me stay up late to watch man land on the moon. I was so inspired. Being a tech person even then I wanted to be an astronaut...but had no idea how to go about it. Chris, I am happy for you and your counterparts who are ambassadors for the future of the world.thank you for letting me live my dream vicariously through this and other public interviews. ... P.S. I loved Major Tom!
Chris not only has the gifts to achieve these accomplishments... he has the humility to recognize his privilege in being chosen and calls himself the luckiest man on earth. You GO Chris... we will be watching .... I will share your updates with my students and through you, teach them all about this unbelievable mission!
when I was 7 I was going CRAZY that Chris Hadfield was going to go to space I was in Canada looking out all the windows to see if I saw the space ship but I couldn't I was gonna cry but then I just was like Fine I'll go to bed
Bestoftherest222 I say its about time for Americans to stop taking other countries inventions and "people of substance" and calling them their own. All Americans are good for making is guns (What an achievement!) and diabetes.
I could watch Colonel Hadfield all day long! He is so interesting, smart, and down to earth. Thank you for your insight and wisdom you have given all of us Sir!!
Solo quiero decir que Chris es un ídolo y una inspiración para todos los que nos proponemos desafíos día a día, un gran y afectuoso abrazo desde Chile.
words fail me to convey all the emotions I'm experiencing concerning your life, your work, your example and your achievements.... Hope for humanity is just one! Thank you Commander :) Congratulations!!!!!
I would be crapping my space pants if I was hanging out there by one hand watching the Earth go around and darkness all over the place. I have a fear of heights so space travel would not be so fun for me lol. You have to give these guys and gals credit for having the mind set to do this kind of dangerous work. Lots of respect from me to them.
+RID COMICS Oddly enough, Chris Hadfield has said that he is not a fan of heights either. Standing close to cliffs... dining in glass bottomed restaurants in skyscrapers, et cetera are things that gives him the willies! But viewing Earth from orbit while spacewalking? Pushing jets to their limits as a test pilot? Riding a controlled explosion for ~20 minutes? He's cool with that.
7:00 - 7:52 Even when you are capable of anything a human can realistically be capable of, the universe and the world, the fact that we're out here with our creations, rather than just nature on its own, is stupefying and dumbfounding. How far we have gotten as a species. I couldn't have said it better than how Chris described it though.
That was the best moment of this video..as i was listening him i imagined that view and feeling that he had and i literally cried because that is just too powerful
No. It wasn’t luck. It was his doing his absolute best and the world was doing its own thing. Hadfield put in the effort. It wasn’t luck. It was his effort.
I admire Commander Hadfield's parents, especially his Mom when she said she stopped worrying as they have 4 pilots in the family :) I can only imagine how proud she is of her son.
This guy is what every human being should aspire to be.
SaGe OwL nah
Amen
nope
It’s the literal Jeb Kerman
A canadian?
Don't look back, that's not where you're going ---- yes, accept things that have happened in the past, but pay attention to where you're going in the future and focus on that, because that is your life." -Chris Hadfield
he sings he plays insturments he flies, he does science. this man is THE MAN
he writes and is a great speaker.
He's only modern day astronaut whose name i have committed to memory...
Truly!
Why would anyone dislike this video? This guy is a legend, sad that theres people out there who cant stand to be happy for others. Bravo Chris Hadfield, from fellow Canadians and all those around the world, I thank you for being a wonderful human and inspiring me to be all I can be :)
I am also surprised by the amount of thumbs down. I suppose idiots are allowed to vote.
Colonel Jack Yes sadly the world is full of sad pathetic losers who hide behind the anonymity of the internet to act stupid.
Its all the deluded conspiracy theorists that are disliking the video.
"America First's" that's who
For the unnecessary outro
Now that is a man who has lived

EVIL Co. He's a man who's achieved greater than you or your kin ever will. Space is there, else NASAs political enemies would've disproved it already. Don't wake up, if you catch my drift.
If he did pass away he probably won't regret anything and his name will be remembered through history.
Chuck Norris quakes with fear at the mention of Commander Chris Hadfield.
Chuck Norris is a pussy
Does your mommy know you're on the internet?
Only because he's a better actor.
Well stated
He's Master Chief without the suit.
+XxKINGatLIFExX
Master Chief is a genetically altered Space Soldier from the video game franchise Halo.
XxKINGatLIFExX
Master Chief has nothing on Chris Hadfield. :P
Chris Hadfield is a legend!
All this from a nine year old Canadian boy who decided to be an astronaut. He brings tears to my eyes. Chris Hadfield you ROCK.
Ye truly does even 10 years later. You rock too Rhonda.
Mr. Hadfield is the type of people we should be looking up to and gain inspiration from. We place way too much emphasis and energy on worshiping and admiring athletes, movie stars, and the such. Bravo Mr. Hadfield for yours and all astronauts hard work.
I heard his mustach can cure cancer
Were you at the Exposure event? lol
Yes it's true
Pierre-Olivier Dostie i have been told he beat chuck noris in boxing
This comment cures cancer
thats why his mom doesnt have cancer, she has it too
As an American, this man is a reminder that it wasn't just America that went to the moon. It was humanity. One small step for a man, one politely large step for Canada.
I'm Canadian, and If that was me taking a polite large step, it was just the whiskey. I was better the next morning.
good dude right there, nice to be living the same time this hero is on earth
He should not lead the International Space Station, he should lead the world
He’s such a cool guy and that would be a pretty big responsibility. Probably think a little smaller lol
if he runs for space president i will vote for him.
The Governor Generalship is suddenly open.
The last astronaut didn't work out. Maybe he will.
a beer can wait six months..BEST ANSWER
Just finished his book An Astronauts Guide To Life On Earth... Great read.

Beautiful - parts of this made me cry. Huge respect respect to Chris Hadfield.
I noticed Chris' dad doesn't say much when Chris' mom is there, sign of a wise man.
Why what do u mean?
This guy is the realisation of all my childhood dreams. Sadly calculus and my inability to understand it prevented me from pursuing any engineering fields. So now Im a nurse. Pursuing a different kind of exploration.

The Jebediah Kerman of Canada!
too true my friend, too true.
He’s even more than that
Seems like a very down to earth guy. no pun intended :P
sublimeding0 no hes a up to earth person
I want Chris to run for Prime Minister. I'd be afraid the job would be a waste of his talents though.
Chris isn't a corrupt, greedy, selfish asshole. He wouldn't make a good politician.
If he were our prime minister Canada would no longer have such small space agencies and whatnot
In space, there's no rivalries between countries. Meanwhile, on Earth there are.
wait for the space nukes
wtf Sancho haha space nukes..

Incredible story, inspiring man. If we could preserve just one person forever, it should surely be Chris Hadfield.
Canada's Top Gun, the elite best of the best! WTG Chris!
I love seeing the great parents behind the great man. Such powerful and wise words from the mother
What an awesome guy.

Don't look back because that's not where you're going - nicely said. Rare for a military/scientist guy to have such a humanist perspective.
GOD i love chris hadfield

He is the Canadian Neil Armstrong!
What a great ambassador for the Canadian Space program. About time Canada produce people of substance instead of beiberfever!
Bestoftherest222 we've always produced people of substance, it's just that they don't always get the publicity they should.
Bestoftherest222 A great ambassador for Canada - period.
Bestoftherest222 I say its about time for Americans to stop taking other countries inventions and "people of substance" and calling them their own. All Americans are good for making is guns (What an achievement!) and diabetes.
+Avery Hymers You know nothing.

I could watch Colonel Hadfield all day long! He is so interesting, smart, and down to earth. Thank you for your insight and wisdom you have given all of us Sir!!
The man is pure class and thank you for speaking Irish to the world from the moon as not many people speak Irish anymore.

uploaded on my birthday. I'm so stoked!
Thank you for keep the dream alive.
What a rad story how he sneaked up to a russian bomber in the night. This guy is unreal!
This man will be remembered far longer than anyone making the headlines for your current entertainement. I salute you Mr. Hadfield.
That's one of the best comments I've ever read!! And this dude is astounding!!!

words fail me to convey all the emotions I'm experiencing concerning your life, your work, your example and your achievements.... Hope for humanity is just one! Thank you Commander :) Congratulations!!!!!
I didn't even know there was such a thing as a Canadian astronaut before I discovered this guy which was cuz of his space oddity video.
