@scottsj that is false, insurance in the states will cover it. Depends on your insurance. But if you are truly diagnosed hypogonadal after all the proper tests, insurance companies usually cover trt. All insurance companies have their own criteria to be approved for coverage, I’d suggest looking up your specific plan. PCP’s can treat but most prefer you to see an Endocrinologist or a Urologist. If your PCP is trying to treat you themselves, have them refer you to one of the specialists instead, they are much more educated on the subject. Endocrinologists seem to be much more conservative in their approach to TRT, I personally think Urologists are better equipped and open to working with patients. Also, not all doctors are up to date on the most current literature on trt, many still carry over old school studies that have since been countered with much better structured studies and larger populations, showing much positive effects for TRT on hypogonadal men. So if your endo or pcp or whatever doc you end up going to tries to use scare tactics, make sure you advocate for yourself in this crazy healthcare system, and educate your doctors so they stop spreading false information.
@@jamese7835 Thanks for all the info. I guess I meant mainly in Canada we have a plan that we don't have to pay for that will pay for TRT if you are low. I would guess most people in the uS have a plan but have to pay for it, the plan that is?

At 71 I would guess so, probably your testosterone is not what it use to be. Best to talk to your doctor, get some bloodwork done and see where things are at.
Love the channel. I'd like your opinion. I'm 49 and just had my bloods done, I've never taken anything before. My testosterone was under 300, which I was told by the clinic is very low , including my free testosterone. I train every day and have no symptoms of low testosterone, so I'm finding it hard to go on it or not. I would like to build a little more muscle if I'm being honest. I'd value your opinion.
If you feel good and do not have symptoms of low testosterone then I would suggest you do not go on it until and if you actually need it down the road. Once you start, you will more than likely not be able to stop as you are already a bit low and being on TRT will shut down whatever testosterone your body is making.
How was your protocol set up my baseline levels were very high 989 I ran cycles and did TRT now for a few months . I want to get off due to insomnia and some anxiety issues / mood issues . My lifestyle is great I train and eat an animal based diet no allergens . I run my own business that doesn’t have lots of stress and don’t use caffeine , drugs or alcohol . As for my lifestyle it’s perfect and I can have a lot of down time . I know last time quitting cold Turkey was hell so now I plan on tapering . I am 25mg test prop subq per day working my way down to 12.5mg test prop subq per day. Was planning on introducing hcg for 3-4 weeks during the taper and then enclomid when I quit . Last time I quit I had terrible anxiety , joints hurt couldn’t sleep for weeks and weeks . It was terrible don’t want that to happen again. I never needed it as my test levels were high I’m only 33. Want to live as naturally as possible now.
My baseline was 16 nmol/L and that was a long time ago, that is around 450 ng/dL.If your levels started out that high then hopefully they return to a decent level.
I had to come off due to the same. Excruciating insomnia and crippling anxiety. I just couldn't get dialed in. Every time I thought I was getting dialed in, within a week or two, they'd come back no matter what the dosage and estro control. It was a ROYAL pain in the ass. Only was on for 2.5-3 months and I just came off. Hopefully it's not too bad in the coming weeks
I thought I heard you are back on some T being prudent. You did describe the effects of going down, or maybe it was off. You seemed positive about that. That is a good attitude if I have the details correct. I was cringing because what you had gone through would be unacceptably misery-laden for me. When my T is too low. I call it feeling mushy, for one. And I describe psychological as mental stamina. So, I am happy to hear you are over the Low T effects. I am not a bodybuilder, but I just use it to treat Low T symptoms. My optimal is around 840 with 23 Estradiol. What are your levels? Before, post-surgery, and now. I apologize if I have your story wrong. I should have watched it again; I think I have it. If you are comfortable announcing on RUclips. I would like to know what made it necessary to interrupt T. Depression could come with that, and the traumatic event you have had made you a candidate for depression, I think, is reckless unless there is a reason I have seen yet in my studies. I am curious. Do you believe that was not just bullshit? I do have a genuine interest! And to learn more about TRT. Thanks, Bart. I thought I heard you are back on some T being prudent. I went off testosterone because I had major open heart surgery to repair my aortic valve (congenital defect) along with an aneurysm above it, I went from nice high T levels, perhaps a bit too high post competition to that of a woman 1 nmol/L (28.85 ng/dL). I am not sure where I am at now as I have not had my follow up bloodwork or doctor consult yet but soon. I have been on T for about 3 months now. the goal is to get me to around 20 mnol/L (576 ng/dL).

Hey mate ! I’ve been on approx 250mg of test C per week. I take bi weekly injections. Mondays and Thursdays. Been on it for about 5 months. Never had any low T symptoms. I hopped on more so to just get bigger. It definitely worked. However, if I want to just stop entirely, can I? As in Cold Turkey, with no PCT, I’m hoping I’ll bounce back without much clawbacks, what’s your opinion?
There is always a risk when going on Testosterone that you may shut your own Testosterone production off or at least very limited. How each individual responds after going and coming off is going to depend on a lot of factors... PCT would for sure help as after 5 months on your natural Testosterone will be shut off.
I agree with you and so does my family doctor but since he is not a TRT expert he is referring me to an Endocrinologists. Which takes a lot of time in Canada. I now weigh 175 pounds after dropped another 5 pounds and I have lost 30 pounds total since going into the hospital. My nmol is at 4.7 last bloodwork about 3 weeks ago. I have been working out 4 days per week and pushing myself fairly hard but the strength gains are very slow to almost non-existent. I am not very motivate to go to the gym but just make myself go anyway, once I am there it is not so bad and I generally feel better after.
@getfitover40 Oh nice! so am I, edmonton alberta to be exact. How about you? Not going to lie it's a b**ch finding a good specialist in Canada, better to go to a clinic for men that can work with your doctor if need be. I wouldn't worry too much about strength gains right now it takes time, and obviously consider what you've been through too, just continue to work on feeling good and being healthy and happy. Depending on circumstances of course, mass including muscle isn't exactly the most beneficial for longevity anyways from what ive learned over the years. Just gotta find an ideal and healthy weight for you and work on strength gains over time and maintain it. Of course it all depends on what you want in life and goals. Yeah man just keep on givin er, sounds like your doing great. I hope you find a specialist that can help you.
If you’ve been doing Testosterone for a competitive edge. You’re not going to be happy with what your Endo will tell you. I had low testosterone which was causing multiple medical problems. The endo doctor started me on 75mg of testosterone every two weeks. I’ve noticed no improvements so far in my symptoms. I get blood work in a couple of weeks and maybe a bump in my dosage. But, endo Doctors are the most conservative of all doctors when treating Low Testosterone. Their guide lines are more strict when compared to urologist. At least here in the states. Good luck in your recovery.
@bobdrawbaugh4207 The mistake is going to an Endo in the first place. At 75 mg every two weeks, he doesn't know what he's doing and shouldn't be in the position he is. Anyone dealing with that B.S. needs to find a new doctor or go private.
@@tk4084 I agree. But, I see and endo for other reasons. My thought it would just be be easier letting him take care of both issues. This was before I had any ideal about low testosterone, how it’s treated or what a proper dose looks like. I’ll see after my next labs. Luckily in the states I have multiple options.
I’ve been on trt for the last 10 years. I take 200mg. of test cyp. My last blood test was taken the day before I was supposed to shoot up and my testosterone level was 86! H&H are slightly elevated too. What in world could cause such a low number?
I am 55 and my doctor told me that my testosterone is 183.4. I have various symptoms. My doctor prescribed me 200 ml trt. I am a little worried.. if i give this a try.. will i have to be on it for life? Or can i come off in 3 months if i don't feel well?
IS that 200mg per week or every two weeks? If you are on TRT for a few months and get off you should go back to whatever your levels where before being on TRT as you were not on TRT that long but it may take a couple months to go back to your natural "lower" levels. If you feel bad on 200mg then I would try dropping it a bit, even to 100mg if you respond well to TRT in terms of increasing your levels.
@@henry1343 So that is similar to 100mg per week which is a good place to start with adn find out how that works for you. If you are the one doing the injections, I would space the injections out once per week at 100mg as this will keep your testosterone more stable in the body.
@getfitover40 so I took the first 200ml today. Should I go 100 next week or wait for 2 weeks before I start the 100 per week? Make sense what I am saying?
@@henry1343 (Not medical advice) but I would say just start next week with the 100mg per week dose as it does take a bit of time to get to you max levels sustained once you start since each week you are adding to the remaining half life of the week before so with 200mg by next week you are down to 100mg which over time is what you would build up to. For example: (100 initial dose, one week later half life of 50)(50+100=150)(75+100=175)(87.5+100=186.5)(93.25+100=193.25) You see where I am going with this.

I’m 38 was on clomid for 6 months reached 834 ng/dl. From a low of 361 ng/dl on just that. Then I tried TRT cream on scrotum for another 8 months and reached a peak of 1,500ng/dl. Test levels of 800+ are good as long as you feel good there. No benefit going on TRT unless you just want to add more size but then it's more of a bodybuilding kind of direction and not so much health related at that point.

@@getfitover40what happened?
@@crldnlc Got lotso of older videos that go over it all but in a nutshell, in 2023 I have open heart valve surgery and was lucky I did not die as my heart was really bad, double the size with an 19% ejection fraction. The result of all of that along with the heart drugs I was taking dropped my testosterone down to levels of a woman. Doing good now and the TRT is helping a lot.
@@getfitover40 that sucks, sorry man. I am 60 and I have been taking Trt for about three years. And I was just curious about how long I should take it. I should try stopping. So I was searching videos and I came across yours.
@@crldnlc When you get on TRT it is generally a life long therapy as your body is/was not making enough Test on its own and so you now need external Test to get you where you need to be. Your body will shut down its own production of Test even more so going off of Test is a bad idea as after three years being on it your body is not going to make its own Test very well.
Brother, I think I need TRT. I have lived for the past 34 years with end stage Parkinson's disease induced by carbon monoxide poisoning. My body is wasting away. 34 years with end stage Parkinsonism tends to do that to a man!
So sorry man, talk to your doctor, getting some strength back would help I would think!
Look for a good functional medicine doctor in your area..
71 still compete in powerlifting competitions, seriously considering going on TRT because don’t get the same results from training ( never taken anything before) am I being frivolous?
I hate when people talk about strength of the testosterone cyp but not the dose. For example I take .3 units twice a week strength is 250mg

PCT would for sure help as after 5 months on your natural Testosterone will be shut off.
trt in proper trt doses, is cardio protective its actually worse to have lower levels. glad your doing well though keep it up man!

IS that 200mg per week or every two weeks? If you are on TRT for a few months and get off you should go back to whatever your levels where before being on TRT as you were not on TRT that long but it may take a couple months to go back to your natural "lower" levels. If you feel bad on 200mg then I would try dropping it a bit, even to 100mg if you respond well to TRT in terms of increasing your levels.
@getfitover40 Thanks for the reply.. Sorry I should have included that it is 200ml every 2 weeks.
For example:
(100 initial dose, one week later half life of 50)(50+100=150)(75+100=175)(87.5+100=186.5)(93.25+100=193.25) You see where I am going with this.
