Seeing that K&N filter, I can tell you that 7.3 was dusted to death. I’ve seen dozens cut down in their prime that way. I would highly recommend to throw that cone filter in the garbage before you run the rebuild.
Ford has a factory severe duty airbox kit for these truck because the factory air box breaks and the 7.3L engines get dusted. About $275 I think, relocates the battery nicely. Try RiffRaff Diesel website.
Actually, the Ford F250 manual has you do it the same way he did it, except using a special, rigid fixture that bolts to the front of the engine. There's other issues with lifting the cab up, especially if you don't have a lift!
Thank you for the extra work to film this.
It seems strong, Is it 8 Cylinder?
Hi. Thanks for the video. Quick question - did you buy a new engine and install it? Or you rebuilt yours? I'm curious what to do to mine.
How long did it take you to remove and replace the engine

@@kslot82 I have one in my 7.3. Works and looks factory. We’ll worth the cash
Thanks for showing the easy stuff but you fast forward through the actual removal the part that seem hard
Yeah cause it took a really long time and not really knowing what I was doing
How did you get to the transmission bolts
I could reach some from above and some from under the truck and some with an extension
The title said engine removal. All I saw was your back working on taking parts off. Didn't see the engine come out 25 minutes I'll never get back
did you have any trouble putting the motor back in trying to line up the flex plate holes with torque converter?
OH YEAH! it was very difficult it didn't just line up first try it took several tries
Same I couldn’t do it alone took me half a day with a helper operating the hoist
Loosen trans mount bolts, they are slotted, slide trans bake 1 1/2 inch, makes it simple!
Hope you didn't try to stab it in the same way you took it out. As the guy above said, that was a "fail."
What's that stuff you were spraying with that green bottle?
sorry for the late reply that was Wd40
After all that he pulled it out with the torque converter still attached....Fail.
You got that right. Hope he didn't try to install it the same way he took it out!
The proper way to remove the engine is to lift the cab off the frame.
But when you don't have a lift or tractor, then you pull it out the front.

Yeah your wrong. The 7.3 can be pulled with cab on. The 6.0 6.4 and 6.7 need the cab pulled in order to pull the engine.
