I went and checked one of my boxes today and it already had two eggs in it. I was surprised for sure.
They start early ! I plan to check a few of mine in the next week or so and provide an update. Saw two pairs on the farm pond today so they are around

Wood ducks dont bring in nesting materials. They only pluck their down to line the nest. If you find twigs or grass its usually brought in by Wrens or Starlings.
Ah, that's right! I believe you or someone told me that last year. So if I leave an empty box, they will nest entirely with down feathers?
Great conservation project.
Hatching out more than you harvest is a cool feeling!
