@@808INFantry11X Honestly, back when Burt died, the scene I imagined was Peter Sellers walking around on a cloud somewhere in heaven peacefully, when all of the sudden, seemingly from nowhere, Burt Kwouk falls on him and they start fighting. The angels, Peter and God himself looking in utter disbelief at these two goofballs wrecking heaven. And if poor Herbert Lom was up there somewhere, I believe he voluntarily jumped from the cloud into the abyss...
Perhaps THE funniest movie scene of all time. I dont say that lightly. Ive seen this at least 1000X and have not failed to laugh out loud like a lunatic...each and every time.
I thought maybe I lost my sense of humor in my old age. But watching these two hysterical guys made me realize that today they just don't have any funny writers or actors.
The genius of Peter Sellers at work, enhanced by the greats like Burt Kwouk and Herbert Lom who worked with him. The slow motion scream, as well as the "Only one man could pull the wrong tooth" bit, made me laugh out loud in the theaters when these movies premiered, and they still pull it off today.
I keep coming back to enjoy this clip, and sometimes the whole film, and it dawns on me that the brilliant idea here was to have absolutely no musical score so that the audience can enjoy Peter's delightfully silly vocal sounds, the sound effects, and the soundtrack when it is slowed down to match the visual footage. This is such a cartoony sequence. Love it.
What a dedicated servant. Clouseau must be incredibly wealthy, if he can afford to constantly have his apartment destroyed, by bombs, his own incompetence, or both.
@@VivaLaDnDLogs I posted a comment on another one of these clips to the effect that none of the homeowner's insurance agents in France would be willing to take Clouseau's calls after the first couple of incidents and that any novice agent foolish enough to approach Clouseau as a potential client would soon be driven hopelessly insane just like poor Chief Inspector Dreyfus.
Cato could have caught his death had Clouseau been delayed coming home, he should have waited to hear Clouseau at the apartment door and then quickly hid in the fridge ready, ha, ha! Or even better, read the script so as to know when Clouseau was due to return, Lol! The Clouseau and Cato fights were great scenes.
I have to be honest: this was the first Pink Panther movie I ever saw and I was hooked. This is how I became aware of Peter Sellers. Also this fight, I didn’t know who Cato was so when he attacked Clouseau from the fridge I literally jumped out of my seat cause I was not expecting that to happen.
Blake was also a black belt 🥋 under GM Ed Parker, who appears as Mr Chong in the movies Bruce Lee was Ed’s friend, hence the manservant called Cato...a little joke between them
The comedic gold of this entire scene was the fact that Cato was in the fridge waiting for Clouseau long enough to have ice forming all over him. With Cato being his servant im sure he had a rough idea of Clousea's schedule could he not have just jumped in the fridge maybe five minutes before he came home? Pure fucking genius they just dont make comedies like this anymore.
It was about this time (the early-mid 70s) that "Kung Fu" with David Carradine was such a hit on tv. The "slo-mo-kung-fu-fight" was a staple of that show, and Blake parodied it here.
Every video that you post shows your expertize when it comes to Clouseau. Brilliant. There is no funnier slapstick than when Clouseau comes home to his asian manservant Cato. Destruction ensues. Your hard work and very much appreciated and your taste is impeccable.
If I called for my mate as a kid and I went in through the back door and he didn't answer I knew we were on for a bit of Clouseau / Cato action. Still love this today.
Ho super, le retour de la panthère rose prochainement sur Arte. Je me disais ils ne passent plus du tout ces super films. J'attends de connaître la date pour communiquer aux intéressés...
what I love was it was always left in doubt as to whether he actually WAS a good martial artist or not. I maintain that "The Bumbling Frenchman" is a little-known variant of the drunken master
In one of the later films Cato hints that Clouseau wasn’t the best, but he humoured him as he was getting paid well, and he liked Clouseau In fact, despite the injuries, both self-inflicted or through accidents, Cato missed his master
Dang. I did not know Cato passed away in May. RIP. The fights Cato and Clouseau had were hilarious since they destroyed these nice apts Clouseau lived in.
This was the second fight I saw between Cato and Clouseau, but far more enjoyable than Round 5, the first I saw. Freezers, slow-motion, goofy action; what could possibly top that? LOLz
The stunt work, sound effects and editing are all about as good as they ever get in any film. 100% convincing. It’s a comedy but I still cringe when he wacks Kato across the throat and when he overshoots Kato and lands on the kitchen floor, that looks painful to me…hilarious, but painful. For me the Clouseau/Kato battles were the highlight of these movies.
The slow motion flying kick and the cow like groaning, kills me every time. Comedy genius.
Me too. That face is priceless
Same here.
What I love is how the tone of his scream changes when he realizes that he’s going into the kitchen! 🤣🤣🤣
Cory Amiskusees Yeah, marvelous.
That is so beautiful and even fun to use.
RIP to both these men. they created comedy gold together with scenes like this.
I imagine that they up there I heaven having many epic battles much to God and Inspector Dreyfus dismay and insanity

A treasure indeed
😂 (lol) “ SO FUNNY!…. And I just loved how Cato would quickly drop his ruse and answered the telephone like ‘ normal ’ . ”
I have been watching these two for 40 years and it still makes me laugh!
😂😂😂😊😊😊
This was the first Cato sneak attack that I ever saw, and it is my favorite. I seem to recall I almost wet my pants from laughing so hard.
Perhaps THE funniest movie scene of all time. I dont say that lightly. Ive seen this at least 1000X and have not failed to laugh out loud like a lunatic...each and every time.

I love Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, and all the greats. But in a serious fight, Clouseau takes them all. This never gets old!
+Lynn Constantine best fight scene ever.
Try it in slow mo when he trips on the periscope. Almost gave me a hernia!
Billy Quan!
lol I don’t know 🤷♂️ about that definitely not Bruce Lee
@@Kyle-Reese808 Haven't you watched his fights, Brother? Clouseau was a bad ass! LOL
Easily one of the funniest running gags in all of movie history.

The slow motion scream, as well as the "Only one man could pull the wrong tooth" bit, made me laugh out loud in the theaters when these movies premiered, and they still pull it off today.
I loved the scene in Pink Panther strikes again when Dreyfus was a part of the slow motion screaming when he fell off the table.
Clouseau was the pioneer of MMA!!
Lose it at the slo-mo part every time...so funny...RIP Cato!
RIP Cato. Thanks for the laughs!
ahahahahahahahaha, one of best scene ever. The flying in slow motion and closeau scream are the best.

The Return of the Pink Panther was the best of them all. Shows hilarious footage of Sellers cracking up during filming. Happened a lot.
1:26 - The look on Kato's face as Clouseau opens the 'fridge is priceless.
Saaahhh!!
We laughed so hard when we first saw this, we were crying and out of breath.
This is great comedy still! I am going to get the movies to show my daughter what a great comedian Peter Sellers was :-)
i laugh even harder when the pitch of clouseau's scream changes when he realizes that he overshot cato
Excellent!
What a dedicated servant. Clouseau must be incredibly wealthy, if he can afford to constantly have his apartment destroyed, by bombs, his own incompetence, or both.
Maybe he has insurance? If they cover the bomb damage, that also covers most of the destruction him & Cato cause.

for me, this is the best of their scenes together.
this is the best of the Clouseau/Cato fights!!!
I still remember watching that scene as a kid at the drive-in when it first came out. Couldn't stop laughing then either. Pure genius.
Brilliant, best fight scene ever.
This is my favorite the return of the pink panther, i am seen this uncounted times, from VHS and dvd.
We will miss you Cato, but you have left us all aching with laughter. Well done, and say hello to Peter Sellers for us.
Peter sellers was a genius the likes of which we may never see again i miss him very much, and have never laughed again,
Sellers was a piece of shit in real life.
I laughed so hard I nearly sh*t myself..I forgot how funny these were.
+Jay Couture I just ran the slow motion, in slow motion. And man, I have such an ache in my stomach. lol
one best scene in this movie! Peter sellers is a master comic
....the old freezer ploy...... arguably the best of the clouseau vs cato scenes this one.
Ah, Cato, you sly fox. The old freezer ploy!

Or even better, read the script so as to know when Clouseau was due to return, Lol! The Clouseau and Cato fights were great scenes.

35 years later I still have a bang looking at Inspector Clouseau's slow-motion jump.
bye bye kato my little yellow friend ive never laughed so hard ever since seeing the pink panthers so long ago rip
Yes,may he RIP.😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭
There is NO other karate move quite as devastating as the Flying Kitchen Double Drop Kick!
the elderly neighbour reaction or lack of is comedy as if this is such a regular occurrence she don't blink an eye
she must have got used to them :D
It always has me in stitches until my belly hurts!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Blake Edwards said that the slo-mo was very popular with Kung-Fu movies at the time...so he decided to put it in. Awesomeness.
Blake was also a black belt 🥋 under GM Ed Parker, who appears as Mr Chong in the movies
Bruce Lee was Ed’s friend, hence the manservant called Cato...a little joke between them
Never noticed before everything so neat & tidy & they wreck the place. Then next time he comes home it’s all perfect again, just part of the humour.
God he was probably in that fridge for hours
george washington Yeah, I remember first watching this with my dad, and he laughed when he saw all the icicles on Cato.
RIP Cato :(
You are back on the force .... Immediately :-)
Kato can also be seen as Electric Entwistle in the post-Compo episodes of "Last of the Summer Wine".
Man Cato did good coming out of that freezer and he was winning to!
Cato had the Inspector 'cold' lol yes
I think this one is the best. Second the final battle in the restaurant in 'the return of the pink panther'
The single note at 0:20
Perfect timing.
These scenes were really perfectly-executed comedy genius.
he destroys his kitchen with a drop kick lol
That's what's so funny about their fights--they always destroy Clouseau's home like a pair of 6 dollar robots in action!
RIP Peter Sellers and Burt Kwouk. Hopefully, they're sparring in an apartment somewhere in Heaven.
ForceMaximus84 as long they don’t damage anything in heaven
@@inuyashason81 well I believe god might be having regrets right now for letting both of them entry as well as Herbert Lom who played Dreyfus
Their fight scenes are priceless, but the slow-mo moments just kill you.
Still as funny as when I first saw it.
This was the first 'Pink Panther' movie I watched. Watched it with my late father at the movie theatre in the 70s.
So awesome. Beyond words...
Peter Sellers was the best solo comedian in the world.
How the hell could Cato be hiding inside the fridge for all this time...

this for me was always the best part of the pink panther movies. cleuseau vs cato.
Peter sellers face when in mid air he knew he was fucked
