Thank you! Will check the archive you mentioned. Don't know the plantation owner yet, but stuck in the 1850's regarding Jost van Dyke as the last birth documents I found were on Tortola. Mind you started on the Dominican Republic, than went back to St Thomas (1889) to than find out there was a DNA connection to Tortola which is where I found Jost van Dyke.
My 2nd Great Grandfather Phillip Duprey (diff name varieties) was born in Trinidad 1852, give or take 1 year. The first record is him in the UK 1980 with his wife and first child, as a British Subject. This is a challenge. Your info should be helpful. Thabk you.
My moms dad is st Lucian and I virtually don’t know anything about his family , unlike Jamaican records which are abundant st Lucian records are scarce online do you know anyway I can get st Lucian records going back too slavery period please I really need your help
I truly believe the real cash crop in the Caribbean may have been the breeding of slaves: separating the children from families, shipping them ultimately north to the US mainland. I could be wrong and would to be properly informed. Maternal side, grandfather was a family history buff who shared the family tree to late 1400’s in Germany(Eyelets, Iletz) I lost it during Hurricane Hugo and am still pained deeply. I was so devastated and discouraged that I left the research alone over 30 years. I’m trying once more.
@@islandancestors2381 You plant daddy, humanitarian types often don't take care of yourself as well as you take care of others, so just checking. Good to hear you're good, now let's get that good to great, by any means necessary, shout out to the Excellent Malcom X. For Greatness deserves no less than Great, don't let them try and tell you otherwise. Big up yourself Dr Dex.
Wow! So impressed and excited by your excellent and super interesting videos. Thank you Dexter. 🙏🏼 I’m on a deep (life long) Caribbean history journey to. 🙌🏽It would be a real pleasure to chat - soon - and share some of the threads in this intriguing web. I’m easy to find in Tortola …my number is out there - or Instagramable . Nuff respect countryman ;-) ✊🏽 Aragorn
