DJI FPV V01.02.0015 Stealth Update - Full Overview & Questions Answered

- DJI have released a stealth update for the DJI FPV Drone and Goggles V2 that blocks you from downgrading firmware and rolling back. This could stop NDL and Drone Hacks working as well as other things such as the new Root Exploit for DJI FPV.
This affects V2 Googles and FPV Drone only, not V1 goggles. We also believe it has no affect on the FCC Hack or 1200mw Hack on the V2 BUT it will affect future things that may not be out yet.

Bought the FPV Drone 2 days after release. Activated. B3yond "installed". Never used the DJI App since then. Never change a running system is in this case the best choice I made. Thx for info.

Thankfully I stumbled upon your vid mate, I was about to buy the V2 goggles and a few air units to see what all the hype was about for myself.

You should be fine buying standalone DJI FPV goggles and activating them. The lock is on the drone side of the firmware right now so you can activate via assistant for FPV.

Unfortunately this has turned me off buying any DJI, I just don't want to risk it!

Thank you for the information. I accidentally installed the firmware ending in 15 thinking I was downgrading so I could install the Drone hacks license.
Boy that was a mistake. But I have another with the firmware ending in 20 and successfully installed the Drone hacks license. I love the unlimited altitude with the ability to cliff dive at almost 3,000 ft. But you have to watch that battery level..

Aww…just seeing this today. Already activated. Been practicing with the mini for the last 7 months. Never opened the FPV,till a few weeks ago. Been wanting to fly a little higher, without having to worry about the silly altitude limit.

Thanks for all the great vids ! I just subscribed. But there is on thing that I didnt get. The fcc hack ( for example beyond) on the dji fpv drone is still compatible with the 0015 update? And if someone has already update to 0015 firmware is there a way to install any hacks to get more distance with the fpv dji drone? (not the air unit) Thank you in advance
This is extremely frustrating. I just want to fly, acre a little here and there, but every time there is some sort of firmware update I feel like I have to spend an entire day figuring out the problems that come with the update. I understand updates to correct problems, but yes everything is working (for me at least), I shouldn’t have to waste so much time dealing with firmware junk. What is just as frustrating is that they won’t let you go back on firmware now, so much for troubleshooting.

I thought it was bad enough that I had to activate the v1 goggles & vista when I got them. Why tf is this necessary?!? This requires a working computer, & internet connection. I haven’t used an actual laptop in years. So long story short, a week later I had it activated and working. F in PITA. All just to activate, which who tf knows what the actual purpose of this was.

As of today July 20th 2022 is it safe to activate an air unit? I bought one back in March and lost it while moving to my new place. I have the v2s that came with the fpv drone but fly my digital 5in almost daily. The fpv drone hasn't been updated since November of last year I believe and I don't plan on connecting it to the fly app anytime soon. It flys just fine on what ever firmware it is at. And I don't really fly it these days other then one in a blue moon. I recently found my air unit and want to activate it but don't want to mess anything up for the 1200mw naco file. Safe to activate or will I lose the power hack?

I got a new set of goggles a month or so ago so I'd have one pair specifically for the DJI fpv quad and one for all my traditional fpv quads. When I tried to activate the new goggles (they came set for the DJI FPV quad) there was no place in the menu to switch them to fpv air mode so I could activate via the dji assistant until after I activated the new goggles and updated via the fly app. I tried connecting to the assistant while they were still in "DJI FPV quad" mode and the assistant didn't come up with the activation screen I had to activate the new goggles with the DJI fpv drone connected to fly app. My older v2 goggles that I used with the DJI fpv drone did have the option to switch to the air unit mode so I switched them and updated to that firmware that ends with 606. There is always the chance that I messed something up (or just didn't find it) but I went through the menus pretty thoroughly and there was no way to switch those goggles to the air unit until I activated via the Fly app and I was even getting a popup telling me to activate via the fly app. Of course that didn't work without setting the whole DJI fpv quad and controller It definitely seemed intentional and at the time I was wondering what would happen if someone bought the v2 goggles and didn't have access to the fly app and a DJI fpv drone? Seems the problem is even more disturbing!!
My point, if someone were to get new un-actuated goggles and had to connect via the fly app they would likely be locked out if they didn't install that disturbing update that blocks users from downgrading. It's bad enough that need to keep a couple Autel (I hate Autel) camera quads handy for flying in areas that are legal to fly in the US but are locked out by DJI geo fencing but this will make me think twice before ever purchasing any DJI products. This is intentional. Never trust a communist company in a communist country full of communists. DJI can FO.

I have 2 new ski racing done but not activated.
I tried activating the first V2 Goggles and not doing the firmware upgrade. The goggles on still on the old stock 0.004 F.W.
I know tried to upgrade the V2 Goggles with Drone-hacks but nothing I do will let me put any different F.W. into the goggle & just keeps failing.
I only have 1 more set of v2 goggle left and do not want to screw then up.
They are activated.
Have you hear of anything??

@@jasonjahnkeinla The only time I heard of the recently shipped v2 goggles being activated using DJI Assistant instead of the fly app is if they were shipped to the customer already in air mode instead of quad mode. One problem is if you receive them in quad mode with no access to a DJI FPV quad, not to mention now when you hook them up to the fly app to activate it hits you with the forced firmware. I'll put out some feelers and ask around if anyone has a work around to get them in air mode without hooking to the fly app.
Do you fly with those iflight Crystal antennas with the DJI FPV? Do you feel they work better?

I have firmware 01.02.0000 on the drone and goggles. I want to upgrade only goggles to version 01.02.0001 (fixed automatic restart of the goggles). I understand that in the Assistant 2 app only the version 01.02.0015 appears. Are there any other options? Through the Drone-Hacks?
Wow! DJI did a number on its customers, very disappointing. So, okay this is what's going on with me. I purchased a DJI Fpv system last year and recently I clipped a power like with it taking of the camera, gimble and surrounding components. I am presently awaiting replacement parts but just bought another new one and of course tried to hack to FCC mode and did not work. But I checked my older Goggles, and they have the older firmware, question i have is can i use my older goggles with my newer drone? and if so, what steps do I need to do to ling them and prevent Dji from taking my enhancements away?
They have done the same on the mini 2 you can't back track to earlier versions and now im having so much trouble glitches ect im not sure how fpv will be affected
Mad, thanks for the info! However, I would like to use Fly App on my Andoid phone as a second screen. Is there a way preventing that the Fly App performs the firmware update? E.g. putting the phone into flight mode, starting the Fly App and connecting it to the googles? By doing so, would it also be possible to download the flight logs from the done and sync them later with DJI server after disconnecting the googles?

Hi there, would you please investigate the position with buying an addition battery for the fpv Drone with original release firmware on goggles and Drone and DH FCC conversion applied... Apparently there's issue with battery firmware version and update requests. Many thanks Robert

I have 6 original air units running version 600, I never updated to 606, however I just updated my new vista today and it only updated to 606 and I know I won't be able to use it with my current setup unless I update my whole setup. Now should I update all my air units, controller and v2 googles to 606? and if I do, and if I'm hearing this right, I will still be able to use the 1200mw hack and not lose any benefits of future Root Exploit?
I successfully activated my fpv drone. 1. Upgrade initial FW to 01.02.000 via drone hacks app. 2. Activate with older(!) Fly App (haven't upgraded since hacks came out last year). No forced update to 015.
On the v2 goggles in FPV drone mode. With said 01.02.0000 drone + hacks applied. The FPV let me start motors in unlock zone at the local football stadium. Also going up to 500+m. So hacks seem not being blocked if goggles are on 015.
Mate would you mind sharing some more details? I am waiting for delivery of my drone and i would like to avoid having to update to 015. What version of the fly app did you use? did you connect the drone or the goggles to the app to perform the fw upgrade? Thanx
@@rikirix1 here is what I did:
1. I lost one perfectly hacked drone in Norway and had to replace it with a new aircraft only.
2. I had the new aircraft sitting around for a few days until I activated it on March 9th.
3. I connected it to the DJI Assistant for FPV and got only the 015 FW Version to chose from. Which for some stupid reason I did. I then proceeded to update my V2 Goggles as well to 015 with some stupid hope that once both are on the same FW I could downgrade to the 01.02.0000 so I can hack the drone again. Which as we now know does not work.
4. So I ordered a new aircraft and sent the never flown one with 015 back.
5. I then attached the new virgin aircraft to my PC, downloaded the 01.02.0000 FW via the Drone Hacks site and flashed it using the latest Drone Hacks app.
6. Then I bound all the 3 components, V2 Goggles (on 015), Remote and the 01.02.0000 aircraft. It then prompts for activation.
7. I activated it by connecting the goggles with the fly app - using v1.4.8 and no forced upgrade to 015.
8. I went to my local soccer stadium, which for sure is a DJI NFZ with self-unlock and was able to start the motors without any warnings or prompt (I did not fly, but I guess it should work).
9. I also tested and I could go above 500m above the launch point at some mountain near my place (while keeping 10m above ground or so).
So in my conclusion an old FlyApp that does not force the update could help activating new drones. I did not update any of my Apps (Go4 or DJI Fly) since mid last year when I applied the hacks tomy drones (Android).

Yea I class them all the same so DJI AU, CaddX Vista and Runcam Link. same rule applies for all.

Hello, ok i had to upgrade to activate my newly replaced dji fpv.
When the goggles are in dji mode the firmware goes to that version, but in fpv mode its remains on the old one.
At this moment i haven't loss anything, i still have 1200mw and 50mpbs.
i guess will have to wait and see what happens in the future.

I have a number of quads that have f4 boards , they have sbus or ibus . Myself and friend are having the same issue, binding the express LRS receiver. We have downloaded the latest firmware and followed the instruction by selecting Inverted in the express LRS configurator. Just cant bind. Can you help?

Just brought the DJI FPV Drone, and only want to use the DJI drone simulator for the next two months till I have some proficiency in flying a drone.
At that time I can buy the DJI Insurance, but it doesn’t make sense to activate the FPV Drone now since I will only be practicing on simulators till then.
DJI only gives 48 hours after the drone is activated to buy their insurance, so does that mean the time does not start when I activate the Googles & Controller?
If so what is the procedure to activate the Controller and Goggles only so I can use them ?
And does this mean the firmware patch can be put off until the drone is activated?
question if I have the firmware 01.02.0000 and the Dji Care Refresh if I crash when they replace me the drone must be activated and then the firmware 01.02.0015 will be forced?

Yes you should be fine as long as they have come in FPV Mode. Simply activate them with Assistant 2 for FPV.
Hey guys, I upgraded my DJI V2 goggles as soon as it arrived, not knowing about these problems. My goggles are acting really weird, and I don't really know if anyone eles is having these problems. Most of the times I turn on the goggles it will just stay in a black screen. I managed to bind it to my caddax vista and was able to have video feed a couple os times but most of the time it is just useless.
Mad’s Tech, my v2 goggles out of the box with stock antennas and 1200mw hack will not go beyond 4 miles. At soon as I get to 4 miles I get a video hard cutoff. Why is this happening?
for dji v1 only 1.0.0600 are ok. (but i have caddx vistas on 02 and is possible to skip in the googles and go hopfully!) only air unit and googles v1 with 1.0.0600, after, problems./

In dji assistant 2 (for fpv) that is still actually the only available firmware for my goggles.

Unfortunatly I will have no choice but to upgrade because its a new drone and isn't activated yet. I understand its going to effect no fly zones but will it effect the 1412mw hack that's available on b3yond?

Im still on v01.01.0000 and appear to be stuck there. Nothing shows up in upgrades except corrupted updates. Am I really missing any worthwhile features and will I still be able to add hacks to this version
Whew, bought a set that was supposed to be 'new' on eBay. The drone was new but headset and controller were activated. Activated the drone with assistant no issues then unlocked it using dronehacks, never updated the goggles or controller :)
What firmware are the caddx air units currently shipping with?

yes, there are ways to do activation without going to 0015 on the drone, see other comments here. Key is to use old version of DJI FLY app.
(if goggles go to 0015 it doesn't matter, as hacks are in the drone itself)
FYI Drone Hacks now has a way to downgrade from the dreaded 015 version!!!
OK not sure so I will ask: I have V2 with V01.00.0606 that has switched to DJI drone mode and no way to return to DJI FPV(air units). When connect to DJI assistant I am offered V01.02.0015 How do I get back to air unit mode? Thanks

I had the 020 in my drone and because of a black screen problem I've downgraded to 015. Trying to flash it with drone hacks but got the error: "Info: Fw has lower Antirollback value as drone. Need to downgrade via exploit but none available for this drone/firmware combination." Did anyone come across this? It is possible to at least revert it back to 020?

Yes the battery will simply update to the drones current firmware when you turn it on.

So this is how i think its done.. please correct me if i'm wrong
1: connect to the Dji assistant app (for fpv) on the PC..
2: Downgrade to V01.02.0000
(alternativly if you want the hacks)
3: goto drone hack and buy a license
4: run lisence software and apply hacks

Quick question, i bought my v2s in march and they have 0015, im using them with bdi adapter at mo analog, on that side of things it has 0606, i intended going with caddx nebula fairly soon, how is this going to effect things, will it still work for the 1200 on sd card etc or is that gone, i dont actually intend using the other side of things as in dji drones and there apps, i bought the v2s as a glasses wearer with a awkward prescription, best box goggles kind of thing to go digital in future.

Are you in drone mode ? It should be showing 0606 if you are in FPV Mode. You need to switch into FPV mode from the settings

I have the DJI FPV Goggles V2, and I'm still on firmware version v.06.06 (primarily because I haven't had any problems with it at all). Is there a way I can update to the latest firmware that's NOT the blocked version or do I just wait until people make a custom firmware using the root exploit on the goggles?
That is the latest version for the FPV System. No need to do anything.
Good, explanatory video. Just purchased the DJI FPV and came across unlocking and stuff, however, was forced when activating the drone to update to this fatidic version. Maybe they will get around it in the future, till then, all the best!
How does it look when you are activating it? Does it automatically start downloading right away or does it not let you click activate before you update?

I just got the combo and had to go 0015 to get everting activated. I hope the DJI hackers are working on a solution.

- Bought the FPV Combo literally 3 days after forced update to 01.02.0015 became a reality. Wish I had known.
- All the hardware came with a 00.04.1009 firmware.
- Updated the Drone firmware with Drone-Hacks desktop app to 1.2.0000.
- Powered on remote controller, goggles and the drone and waited until they were connected.
- Goggles complained about old firmware and claimed firmware needs to be updated.
- Connected goggles to phone using provided cable and OTG-adapter and started DJI Fly app, version 1.4.8 which I haven't used in several months.
- Fly app had auto firmware download turned off.
- App didn't offer unlocking and claimed no devices were connected.
- Updated the remote controller with DJI Assistant 2 to 1.2.0000 firmware.
- For the Goggles only available firmware option was 01.02.0015. Didn't update.
- Now activation was successful and I got locked out until I cripple my drone with the 01.02.0015 firmware.
- Force closed DJI Fly app but that didn't have any effect.
- Updated Goggles to 01.02.0015 with DJI Assistant 2. Goggles still complain about old firmware.
- Still locked out.
This was the last DJI product I will buy.
You'll pay for the crap but you don't own it.
I'll return the FPV Combo and find a used one with good firmware.
Unless you have pre-activated and updated goggles, you are out of luck. Buy second hand if you must.
Forgot to mention that my phone is an android device.
Now that I have thought about this, I wonder if it is at all possible to activate new products without getting forced to update. Even if some users have reported success, I think DJI might be catching up on workarounds.

FYI: In DJI Assistant 2 (DJI FPV series) my V2 googles now shows V01.02.0015 in FPV mode and drone mode. Now previously, it did show the 606 in FPV mode and the 0015 in drone mode but now it does not? But in the googles it reports 606 for firmware.
It's because you upgraded your goggles to the latest FW offered that is 0015

At the moment you can’t use 3rd party software for flying the goggles or AU but people are looking at it.

Information: I bought a new DJI FPV Drone & Goggle set 2 weeks ago. Factory version settings on the Drone was 01.02.0000. Before I powered the Drone to my DJI Fly App on my phone, I purchased the License on Drone Hacks and first changed my Firmware with my computer to the new Drone Hacks Firmware before doing anything or even connecting to my phone. My Goggles were updated a couple days back to the new 02.02.0015. But the Drone Hacks still works with my Drone and Goggle. You might want to update your video mate. Because the information regarding the DJI Drone not working with Drone Hacks after you update the Goggles is incorrect. Thanks for your info though. Kind regards 👍🏻
Hi, I have a new DJI FPV drone that’s been sitting in its box for about 6 months - it was stuck with my parents in another country - and I’ve only just received it. It hasn’t been activated yet. Is there a way to activate it but decline any updates? Thanks

I also have an ipad with dji fly that hasn’t been updated this year so its not up to date yet. Do I use drone hacks first or can I activate without updating through the old dji fly with activated but not locked goggles and remote?
