As someone who visited Crestview in 2004 (16 yrs ago from when your video was made) I'll say this... It appears to have grown a bit since then. The water barrels in the middle of highway 85 ? with no gutters are finally gone. Apparently they were there for about 10 years. Considering the town is small this is not surprising. It costs a lot of money to lay down roads. I'm not surprised by the traffic jams. I saw some traffic in 2004 as well. My take on Crestview was that it is a poor town with a little more crime than usual. I do remember being at the laundromat (1 of 2 in the town) and was warned by a local not to stay there too long otherwise I'd be stuck here for life. And she wasn't being positive about it either. From what I've heard / observed it has a drug problem as well . The train horn blowing as it goes through town is pretty annoying as well but depending on your distance from the rail that might not be terrible. I just hate train horns. Don't mind me. Sorry, not trying to bag out Crestview. These are just things I observed. It does have a very large Walmart though with at least 10 - 15 different types of milk (seriously.. It does). I stayed at the "Econno lodge" which is right next door and was comfortable and spacious. Like any hotel it could be good or bad now. When I was there it was comfortable and decent. I heard that a year later (about 2005 or so) the roof got blown off it. I saw pictures of the Tornado's / hurricanes that rip through there. Well it is flat and near the water so what do you expect ? It does have a nice park "Twin hills park" which I visited. It has a bridge going over the lake (from what I remember) and quite a few shady trees to sit under to relax. Overall it is a decent little town with "southern / hillbilly" type folk.

thanks for the info...like the idea of a sleepy town but you think you might be doing any specifically for Okaloosa Island or specific beaches like Pensacola or Panama City Beach or Miramar? I'd like to know all the pros and cons of having quiet beaches and dog parks (pros) to too much traffic or high HOA fees (cons) etc. Of course, that's debatable depending on who you are :)
@@livingindestinfortwaltonbeach Make the streets walkable and focus on downtown, add an interstate exit on Antioch, build a bypass, make 85 6-lanes south of 90, pause all construction south of interstate 10... Those are my thoughts at least on what could be done. Not sure if adding base housing on Duke Field would make it better or worse but we could try...
