It's so true at 2:19 ! I have a big perfume collection, but many expensive perfumes when I wear them, no one would say they cost an insane amount of money.
Ladys don't care about quality of your cologne. They just want you to smell nice. Thats why they offen go for a cheap syntetic ones. Like Eros edt. that you can get around 30dolars for 100ml
Would really love a Chanel guide! Been interested in Egoiste (not Platinum) for a while; I've tried it in shop and it smells amazing, but many people on fragrantica complain about newer formulation's performances. Would love to know your opinion!
The newer formulation is more synthetic smelling on the opening then as it dries down it develops into the Egoist smell. Performance is average but the silage depending on temperature is satisfactory.
@@richardspurgeon8954 It's my favorite versatile fragrance in my collection at the moment, I smell all the notes mentioned on Fragrantica in addition to the citrus note from the drying that wasn't listed. Lasts at least 8 hours on my skin with moderate projection, recommend it

I agree that to many fragrance commentators keep going over the same old fragrances. we know we all know that D&B's the one or light blue is great but not long lasting. Time to move on to new fragrances. There are plenty of untouched out there waiting to be discovered.Go to the mall and shop the off brands once in a while. You might find a new keeper.
I usually pick up fragrances on the cheap when I can get a good deal. That way if I don't like it, I don't feel so bad in giving it away. Also, most of the time I just wear them anyway so that they don't go to waste.
I got given for Christmas of a relative - Avon Elite Gentleman Absolute and have to say I got a lot of positive compliments lol. Yeah it's not an expensive brand but I was actually surprised by it.
"Stop with the mainstream. Chanel is focusing on their private line. People want higher quality." Sorry. I get the sentiment. But that's mostly bullshit. People want mainstream Bleu de Chanel. It's the biggest seller for a reason. "People" want compliments. They don't want "art." That's what "people" want. And yeah, lots of people just want the status of wearing a certain brand and have someone say something nice to them. Nothing wrong with being a fragrance enthusiast, wanting niche, uniqueness, art. But fragrances enthusiasts are not most people.
I dig Aventus Cologne but hate the performance as well… I was never an oil person. But…. I recently purchased clone oils of a few fragrances I love.. some With performance issues.. It actually helps quite a bit… put the oil on first.. wait 10-15 minutes then spray..

In my experience the expensive ones in my collection have been far better than the cheapies, Jeremy hyped up Mont Blanc individuel and voyage. I have never worn those outside of my house. For the new collectors I would recommend focusing on getting quality fragrances rather than focusing on the quantity and buying cheapies.
I agree with you to a certain extent. But I try for what I consider the Goldy Lock zone. Fragrances that are expensive enough to be good but not so expensive that each wearing costs more than my latte. For me that tends to be in the $50-$200 range with the average being $100. My recent splurge on a $230 bottle of Sauvage Elixir is the exception not the rule.
When I first started out I was only buying the highest rated colognes on Fragrantica and have most of the popular hits among Frag heads in the designer realm but one person's comment changed my buying behavior and the gist was that some of his most well loved colognes were actually rated lower and I have found myself that while the group opinion is valuable I also find myself really enjoying colognes that are more devisive. So now I focus on notes in a fragrance that interest me with ratings taking a back seat in what drives my blind buys. Popular opinion no longer is the main driver of my decision making. It served me well when I was new to the fragrance game but it's time to move on.
My way to buy colognes consist on getting very divisive fragrances and force myself to wear them and I found that the ones I hate the most at first I end up loving and appreciating more at the end 🤷♀️
