Being a Wales fan and northern hemisphere I was lucky to have known his playing days , I even remember my mates banging on about him and how good he was and now I look back and see why hes the greatest ever no.9 in modern days to wear that shirt.
Joost was/is a hero to many of us. Watching him made me want to be a better athlete. I never had his talent or courage, but I tried hard because of the example he set. Thank you Joost. Thank you so much.
He was the best rugby player I’ve ever seen play the game electrifying pace skill and power he had it all real gutsy player he sure was a pleasure to watch poetry in motion he was
An all time great, a beast on the field, a leader, great abilities with great skills and qualities, had some great battles with lomu and always got stuck into him, was utterly fearless. He was and is a true springbok in every sense of the word.
The best rugby player ever u will forever be my favourite rugby player you were sent from the angles I love you, joost and I always will god bless ik u will forever be looking down on everyone! 😢😢😳
That’s probably the only name that can be mentioned along Joost. I ever got to see Gareth play, but people still talk about him today, and his highlight are great too. But for me, Joost everyday at 1
As rugby players go, Joost is my man at #9 in my GOAT team. Never equalled; never bettered. The only guy who comes close would be Edwards, but it was different eras and a different game. Joost is my pick.
It’s a tough one between Joost and Edwards. I ask this question.. Would Gareth have stopped Jonah in full flow? To me, thats what separates them. But then again, I never got to see the great Welshman play, only highlight of his career. Sublime player and rightly up there with the best players of all time, but for me, Joost pips him.
@@wernertukker5420 Well, as to the question about whether GE would have stopped Jonah, we'll never know for sure. My guess, though, would be yes. Rugby was a very different game when Edwards was playing, and there were some proper hard bastards about the place (Gareth included, mind you). I'd not expect him to take a backward step when it came to face off with Lomu. What we do know for sure, however, is that Joost _did_ bring him down. What a moment that was! Anyway, if you're interested, my number three pick would be Agustin Pichot (Argentina). Fantastic player in his day, and a very nice guy along with it.
Joost van der Westhuizen took Jonah Loma down more than all the other players who played against him together! Even Justin Marshall said Joost was the world's best player during his career. To think that the great Gareth Edwards was only second best as a nr 9 to Van der Westhuizen.
Fuck you for trying to smear a true champion and legend of the game. He died a hero and his legacy will live on forever. Show some respect for a man who dedicated his last years helping others. He's one of the toughest players ever to have worn the Green and gold. His battle with MNR disasse were painful to watch but he fought to the bitter end. So piss off and go Fuck yourself.
Bach you should be ashamed of yourself! The guy has died and you're pissing all over his name. Show some respect and delete the comment you heartless pig! What an asshole!

He was probably the best ever scrumhalf. And one of the best Rugby players ever. True legends never die. RIP Joost
Brings tears to my eyes. Awesome rugby player. Outstandingly good.

True words

Really liked this guy. Tough as nails.
Part of the Lomu take down squad
My all-time rugby hero.
If I have to play for my life I will pick him at nr 9 over any scrum half is guy got big balls and no doubt the best ever RIP
Tremendous piece you did here. Within many clips, we see the punches he took too.
He got up. Inspiring music too.
Great tribute. Well said Justin Marshall
Stopped NZ winning a world cup with a single tackle
TBH James Small also stopped the big man and Stransky made sure to get the kicks over. But yes Joost stopping Lomo took the hart of a lion
There's no doubt about that! Joost's tackle on Jona Lomu won the world cup for South Africa in 1995.
Joost, you made your mark in rugby
history ! Yes, you are admired by a lot, yes, a lot of people around the world !!! R. I. P.
The tall timber falls so that saplings grow.
RIP.
Brilliant player, brilliant video.
Best 9 ever.
That's pure class! What a champ!
Great Tribute
Who put this bowl of onions here?

Can you pleeaassee do more of these 🙏 (love the music btw🙌)
I loved it too..Fleet foxes methinks. Chill )
Amazing to see this video. Always sharp, always forward. One of the greats, hands down.
RIP Joost...a true South African legend🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
RIP JVDW, for me the only scrum half who could rival Gareth Edwards as the GOAT.
I agree joost nr1 Edward nr 2!
Rugby's best ever.
Lucky guy to have a great tribute like that.
Not lucky. He earned it
Luck is when you get something for free this guy earned it over and over , best scrum half ever!
The best rugby player ever u will forever be my favourite rugby player you were sent from the angles I love you, joost and I always will god bless ik u will forever be looking down on everyone! 😢😢😳
Best scrum half i've seen on youtube i may add as i'm young, apart from gareth edwards.
That’s probably the only name that can be mentioned along Joost. I ever got to see Gareth play, but people still talk about him today, and his highlight are great too.
But for me, Joost everyday at 1
Rest in peace to a springboks legend who will be in the springboks history
RIP Legend. Nice video.
somebody need to do a video on the players who played in the 1995 finals and are now dead
Jonah Lomu, Joost van der Westhuizen, Rubin Kruger, James Small and now Chester Williams all true legends of the game.
One of the best
Thank you , a wonderful showcase of a remarkable man. Those tackles upon Jonah? I DO remember the first , and I can't remember him giving a bad pass.
What a man what a fabulous hall of fame i had on my wall just J9
1:02 that is class.
Fearless

Hi, what is the song title

Are you not aware that this legend did die?
Scaring of the brain stem??
Which doping product he sadly was forced to take ?

@@coerievantonder3491 I never knew he died and went through all of that. God bless him and his family! The guy was a true champion.
Rest In Peace. ❤️
