I feel I should know you, I live in Devizes south, the Andover road and visit the plain on a regular basis, mostly using Redhorn Hill as the access point.
Hi, would you be able to tell me the best place to park up to be able to ride these Byways? We are looking to go there this Sunday but really not sure where to start.
a great video wish I could still ride bikes but I am disabled and sense of balance is very poor now all the great bike groups now but not when I was younger thank you for your time
you should have a look at some 800cc 4wd honda quad bikes they are easy to drive you can select 2 or 4wd fully manual or automatic gearboxes and you can have racks front and bk as well as wincheches and land anchors to aid in sticky situations, there are some good used ones out there with basic setups for around £3,000.
ive just purchased an enduro for days like this. i live only a few miles from the plains so easy access. Wheres the best place to start off for a beginner?..ive heard the junction where bulford road meets tidworth road? is that good?
Hi. I ride across the Plains from time to time, not at the moment due to covid, when things ease I'm happy to meet and take you round the Plains, but more interesting if you could come to Swindon or Marlborough where far more interesting lanes.
KTM Steve well I am looking at hopefully doing the French tet when lock down eases. Would be great to meet up with you to do some trails if you know them. I live in Essex so it’s a bit of a journey to get there but I do have a few friends in Salisbury so I could leave from there some time.
@@ownyourworld no problem with that. Best to get back to me in closer to when you might be up this way. I'm off to the Pyrenees hopefully in September.
Not stopped by police but you would need to be aware they would be within their rights to expect legal sized plates. Up to individual riders to make that decision.
Hi buddy love the video looks like great fun up there, I have a super Moto Aprilia sx70 and have been thinking about going up the Plains that's how I found this video, a little worried about going up there on my own it probably isn't the best idea, how do I join you guys?? Cheers :)
Jake36183 There's a gravel road that runs around the complete perimeter of Salisbury Plain which is easy enough to find and to ride on. There are some byways which are sign posted but unfortunately there are riders who just ride anywhere which causes issues with the Army. Best bet is to found your local TRF group and get involved with them on a ride out to the Plains.
As a member of Wiltshire TRF I'd suggest joining the TRF - you can come to our monthly meeting - 1st Tuesday of the month in Devizes to see what an active group we are and then go from there.
That looked brilliant wish we had that in Scotland would love to be doing that 👍
Traction control on a Enduro should be a crime
I just moved in close to this place. I can’t wait to get out and try this track. Great job 👏
Where abouts? I’m the same!!
@@owen3214 southwick, I had a little blast up on the plain last week what a place!
Thanks for this, some great information
Love the KLX300, same as mine. Very capable bikes on the ByWays

Sorry mate, but I didn't see any hills or steps. I'm wrong or there are just flating open roads as u showed us in this vid please? Cheers
No real hills or steps on Salisburg Plain, just lots of mixed gravel, grass and even harder in wet weather chalk and clay trails.
7:20 Our mate got stuck in that puddle. haha

Is there much difference on doing this with slick tires?
yea
you still could in the dry easy tho
do you get any grief over them illegal size plates on the plains from police or are they just checking your taxed/insured/mot'd?
Not stopped by police but you would need to be aware they would be within their rights to expect legal sized plates. Up to individual riders to make that decision.
