I figured this would be a good place to ask. I really like the look of this game, but don't think I can afford Ultimate edition with all the DLC and packs. Is the base game/deluxe version still worth it?
Personally I think the base game is totally worth it, especially since it receives great updates every time a new DLC comes out. Frontier definitely doesn't neglect it. From there, just buy whichever DLCs have your favorite themes or animals. None of the DLCs are absolutely necessary to the functionality of the game, imo.

Right now there is a sale on steam (at least for steam Germany, I don't know it's different for other countries), maybe it's worth having a look :)
