I love that you really restored this historic home rather than just cheaply patching things up and making it “modern.” I love that you tried to make things close to how it would have originally looked. it’s beautiful!
I loved everything about this. I absolutely had tears in my eyes watching this. I love every thing you have done from the colors, your collections, hard work, and incorporating your beloved pets into your plans. There was a house a few years ago in your area that I wanted to buy and fix for my own but I couldn't get anyone to realize the beauty I could see in it. I'm heart broken and still think about it.
I understand what you feel. Some of us connect with history a lot, on a personal level. I had a house similar in the belle Grove historic district of fort Smith, Arkansas.
Okay. So being a lover of old Victorians, your home is stunning. Even for, in its day, a low budget bungalow. What I wouldn’t give for the beauty you have restored. You guys are truly fantastic. You have created and restored a true oasis. Kudos.
Your home is gorgeous!!! I love the blue and how amazingly you've decorated it. The attic space will be awesome someday. I loved the fur faces peeking out of the window in the final shot. Someday you will have to introduce us to all of your fur babies. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. 💖💜💖
I decorate grand millennial style but also appreciate the traditional home look. Love how you decorated. None of that mass produced tj maxx hobby lobby stuff. Wish they made homes like these again. Love the charm of them.
Simply gorgeous. I can't decide if I love the dining room (that chandelier was worth the hassle of bringing it in through the window) or your sumptuous master bathroom the most. Your work, and your enthusiasm for it, is truly inspiring.
I love old buildings and hate to see them in disrepair or demolished. I love it that you save these beautiful gems and bring them back to their original glory!
Wow! So many perfect touches, just exquisite! I could watch this over and over and still see something I missed before. I can only imagine the thrill of finding the hidden ceilings and pocket doors in the garage! I loved how light and airy every room felt because of your color palette, with painted floors , subway tile , reclaimed kitchen sink and mantel pieces. The breeze way of the hall with the beautifull light of color coming from the back door was stunning. Everything object meticulously and perfectly matched with artwork, to treasures of collections blending to a sublime presence. Total elegance! I Loved it all.
I hope you'll update us when you tackle that second floor! There's so much potential for that space up there and I know you'll do something great with it!
I first want to commend you for taking on this project, as the house was really left to rot and fall into disrepair. But you saw it for the historic gem that it is and you have restored it so beautifully, the soft blue is gorgeous and the antiques placed about add interest. I love when people preserve and rescue these beautiful old homes with all of their architectural charm and historic relevance.
@@donnaleveron5711 Me three (or 63). Old homes just call out to me and make me want to go wander through them and wonder about all the families that have lived there.
My family was raised in a 1837 brick gothic revival! Very historic town. The largest historical small town on the historic register. Marshall Michigan. So proud of our historic community. Love you’re restoration renovations! Properties are for current residents to preserve the past!
Absolutely gorgeous! Love it! I hate when old homes become “tear downs”. I am all for saving these beautiful, vintage homes. Cause once they are gone, they are gone. Keep up the good work! 👍💕
Bravo👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I just love seeing homes brought back from the brink and especially love seeing homes decorated with second hand items. No new crap that breaks after 6 months of use and just ends up in the bin. Thank you. Much love from Australia xx
There is so much about this house I love. The blue kitchen. The blue exterior. The brightness. The attention to detail for period refurbishing. The two rocking chairs on that inviting verandah. You have create a beautiful oasis. A harbour of tranquillity and peace from the chaos of restoring old homes. Well done.
I love you guys! You have the same love for homes as I do. To me they are more than walls, floors, and ceilings...they have a life as well. Thank you for the love that give back.

It's really neat that you were able to infuse life back into a home on the brink of destruction. Excellent job! Thanks for sharing.
So grateful you shared this inspiring & beautiful house with us. Especially love the artwork on the dining room & under stairs walls---and, of course, the dogs!
Beautiful. Reminds of our first house we bought. Similar looking built in 1914. We miss that house. We looked at recently buying it back when it came up for sale. However the owners who bought it from us had removed the fireplaces and changed the roof line, took all the charm and originality from the home. I often get amazed how many people will buy these old homes and then change all the things that make it warm, charming and cozy. You did a great job keeping the charm alive in this home.
Talk about saving a home! You've manage to not just save it but restore it to it's former glory to a period when craftsmanship was appreciated, and your decorating gives that nod of respect to the time period. Also that blue is one of my favorite colors for a home, so beautiful.
the incredible attention to the details, the commitment to original features yet with the ability to compromise for confort and practicality, the enviable antiques and decades old wood, its all so beautiful and passionate, respectful to history yet personal as well, its balanced. thank you!
OK. Let me start off by thanking you for letting us into your private sanctuary! I love your stained glass window on that back door. I also love your mural on the side of the stairs. My house has low ceilings in some areas and I would definitely not change it. My electrical bill is always low (with solar it’s actually non existent). I’ll take the lower ceilings in exchange for the comfort of having my air on when it’s hot and my heat when it’s cold and not worrying about it. I used to live in a home with 14 ft ceilings and my electrical bill was crazy high yet it seemed my house was always too cold in winter and too hot in summer

Beautiful. I fell in love with a 1910 fixer upper craftsman style farmhouse. I do not like the new cookie cutter homes. When I saw the beautiful porch, stained glass door, the wooden floors and french doors, I new I would be purchasing and restoring. So glad I did. I completely gutted inside and out but was able to keep all the original wood and molding. I may be young but I have an old soul. This house is gorgeous, love what you have done. No home should be neglected like that.
I cannot believe I missed this video until now. I have been following you two for over a year. A beautiful home done with love, passion, care to detail and historical accuracy, thank you caring to bring back a neglected grand lady. Thanks for caring it shows. All my best and look forward to all your projects.
My husband and I purchased a 1900 Victorian house in the south, the interior renovation is very close to completion; however, the exterior (except roof repairs & windows) has not been touched as of yet. We were able to save the original stairs (they are beautiful), most floors, doors, baseboards and trims. We left the pocket doors inside the walls but can easily be retrieve by removing the trim we installed to cover the side openings. Now that I see yours I’m thinking about getting them back 😊. We are adding another bedroom with a full bathroom in the attic for my daughter because she loves that space, it’s big and has natural lighting. I love my over 4,000 sq. ft. Victorian home, these houses are a treasure. Trying not to bring too much inside but I truly enjoy my house, specially the high ceilings and wrap around porch!!! The purchase price was a steal.
You really do do walk the walk! I love that you chose one of your salvages to become your own home. I love many things about your home, my most favorite is the blue ceilings. That look makes me feel so happy!
Words can't describe how beautiful this is. For the life of me, I can't imagine why anyone would think putting up paneling and dropping the ceiling would improve the look of their house. It was an intentional decision but why? I also love that you have shears on your windows. I have shears in my bedroom and guest room. My husband is very light sensitive so he keeps the shades down in the bedroom, but the guest room as beautiful sunlight and it pleases me every time I pass by.
My only guess is for heating reasons (less area for heat to escape), or just cheap repair of some sort. I agree with you, it’s unthinkable, really..but there are those that think nothing of good taste and don’t consider aesthetics. Not knocking them for being that way, just stating a truth.
Wow! You both are natural presenters! Your presentation and footage of the homes you show are just as elegant as the homes themselves. Nice job. I always look forward to your next video.
i’ve never seen someone appreciate period homes the way i do until i discovered your guys’ channel. thank you for all you do and saving/restoring gems of the past!
I guess that answers my question about the Queen Ann’s house. You already have a home n it’s absolutely awesome. So beautiful. From what you tell us there was a lot of damage from termites n water. You n your husband deserve a medal for what you believe in. I want to personally thank you for saving as many old houses as you can. I must mention I love that mission oak rocking chair you were sitting in. Thank you so much for sharing your treasure. ♥️♥️😊👍👍
This is nice to see where you do live. All of the work that you have accomplished means so much more when seeing your home. I personally like the fact that sometimes because of the condition of the house you are working on, you need to make compromises, even when it is yours to live in. Thanks for this tour!
This is absolutely awesome! I love everything you've done, and I do so admire your ability to "see beyond the dirt," taking on the restoration of a house that truly deserved to be saved. You have turned it into a charming home that perfectly reflects your personality. Kudos to you!

There is a gorgeous Victorian in a small town ( not revealing the state because i want it and I know people would go looking to snap it up) it looks like a horrid crumbling horror movie set from the outside, buy the inside is beyond gorgeous. Lots of original wood, fixtures, and even some remaining wallpaper. Its been on and off the market since 2014, so I'm hoping I have a chance to get it . I still have to save up , but I think it would be beyond amazing when fully restored. And it won't be too hard to do! Most of the work is already done! Though I will have to strip paint off of the original wood panels, * shudders* such gorgeous natural wood, and they painted it white! ( the photos show it halfway done)
Go ahead and talk a mortgage lender to get approved. My husband and I bought our dream house last fall and are having a ball restoring it. Contact the latest realtor to see if you can get in to see it. I bet you can get it easier than you think. We didn’t have to come up with near as much as we thought we would. Good luck 🍀
@@patriciabecker8573 thanks. That house ended up selling just a few weeks ago, my problem is that my husband and I are both unemployed due to covid, so no mortgage lender even gives us a second glance. But it's OK, we moved back to California last week, moved in with friends. So now I should be able to find a job easier. Then we can save up more and get a place. Our plan is to save up enough over this next year to either buy a place outright or put enough down on it that we can pay it off in a year or two. Luckily the houses we like don't tend to be very expensive. Anywhere from 30,000 to 200,000. Admittedly, the higher prices would take us longer to pay off, even when paying extra each month, probably 5 to 8 years, with me working 72 hours a week.
It’s absolutely gorgeous! So glad you decided to restore! Thank you for sharing your lovely personal space with us..And not only loving older homes but loving furry friends as well..Blessings to you both..
With so much of the house in advanced decay, that gave you license to use your own creative skills. Victorian can play nicely with Craftsman, and your kitchen manages to be 21st-century in an unobtrusive way. Even if the woodwork had originally been unpainted, so much was unrestorable that painting would be the only way for consistency anyway. If the first occupants could come back and look at your home, I think they would approve.
One word, fabulous absolutely fabulous. You are a credit to the restorators. One only can dream to live in such a beautiful home. Very nice very nice indeed. 😘😍
You are sooooooo talented! Your home is beautiful. I love love your ideas! I wish I could create some ideas like yours, but I’m very lacking in that department. Keep saving those old houses. I don’t care what people say about history. We can’t change it, so we need to save as much as we can. Looking forward to your next great lady!
i am amazed at the top-most level of the restoration. You must have had an army of craftsman-restorers who have the greatest passion and skill for their work. I have some cosmetic work to do in my wonderful little house, and I only wish I could find people like that.
Absolutely love the attention to detail. I simply adore that you have showcased as artwork old and beautiful clothing. I completely agree they should be shown as the art they are rather than stored away.
Your home is truly lovely and I’m in complete agreement that homes, regardless of their splendor, are meant to be lived in. Thank you for sharing your home with us and the amazing collections / art work that fill it so beautifully ☺️
FABULOUS VIDEO !!! I saw sooo many beautiful things from the house itself to the antiques !! But the big Conch Shell stood out to me !! Now I know where to put mine !!!
Uuuugh! so sorry about the pocket doors! I couldn't imagine taking something so stunning and resorting them to putting oil cans on. They are by far the stunner of Victorian dining rooms ( aside from the stained glass) .
Thanks to the both of you for saving these beauties from the past. If these homes are taken care of , they will be here when the new cookie cutter houses are long gone. You are a great couple that work hard and do beautiful work that is so important. My wish is that more young couples will see the beauty in these houses and save more of them. Thanks again from Alabama !!!!
the previous owners maybe tried making the place into a duplex and that would account for the enclosed staircase? i noticed that a lot of ppl will buy old homes and make them into double rentals.
I agree. They tend to close them to keep the upstairs and downstairs from being able to access one another and would had put an entrance to second floor outside somewhere. Then duplexes are born
Wow! What an amazing transformation! It warms my heart that you rescued this old home. I don't think many would have the courage to tackle this project. Kudos to you and your husband for your patience and foresight. That's A LOT of work, time and money! I love the character, colors and coziness of your beautiful home! I also love all of your treasures especially that chandelier! It's so unique! Bravo!
The clock! If you would like it to run, without scaring the dogs - just take off the (left) weight, that runs the chime! It will run fine without, and be a heartbeat of the home 🙂 Alternatively, stick a little piece of felt on the bell, where the hammer strikes it. Same goes for all clocks with weights, and if you have a clock, that is key wound, then just only wind up the right side (usually) 🙂
I just love old clocks, and I think every home should have a heartbeat, the constant, steady tick-tock of a big, old clock 🙂 I know, I feel like something is wrong, if my clocks don't run 😂 Yours looks like a beautiful, french comtoise clock 🙂
So very happy that you and Kevin created this wonderful video tour of your beautiful home!!! What an amazing transformation!!! You both have so much to be proud of on so many levels!!!! What an absolutely stunning home. Unfortunately my husband and I are not in a position to save the 1928 house on our ranch. If we had started about 30 years ago it might have been doable but sadly it is even farther gone than your lovely Scotty. Congratulations on a job beautifully done.
I love your home!!!😍 The design, the color scheme especially the periwinkle color on the exterior and interior walls. Thank you for giving us a glimpse into your private space:)
I love it...every inch! When I saw the unfinished space on the second floor, I saw in my mind's eye my perfect artist studio. A girl's gotta have her dreams :) Thanks for preserving for future generations beautiful houses like this.
I’ve always preferred to live in an older home, actually the older the better. My happiest memories seem to have been while I was living in an old house, but unfortunately I didn’t live in one with such style and age as yours. The next best thing for me is going to be building a Victorian mansion dollhouse. I plan to attempt making the moldings, fireplaces, and other features a very close likeness to houses I’ve seen online.
This house is wonderfully curated, bringing disparate styles together to make one beautiful and harmonious home like no other. It shows quite a talent.
You’ve breathed new life in this gorgeous house! Creating an amazing warm inviting environment, it’s beautiful!! I was wondering about your floors being painted rather than refinished, then you answered my question.. what you did is perfect for your fur babies ! 😘
I love your house. It’s absolutely beautiful. I don’t think I am inspired after watching. I just feel tired after watching. We have an old house that we are working on and it’s been many years in the making. It’s a small house and we do all the work ourselves. I am soooo sick of working on a house. I want my life back.
My in-laws bought a ramshackled historic home from the 1700's with 3 lots and a huge barn.. It had squirrels living in the oven, pool was overgrown, it was horrible. They paid over 300k in the early 80's, which was a lot. They redid the whole home. Eight bedrooms, 7 fireplaces, but no bathrooms because people used outhouses back then, but they had bathrooms put in. They did such a beautiful job that it was in House Beautiful magazine. Much of the work they did themselves but hired contractors to do electrical, plumbing and install bathrooms. It even had a door in the side of the parlor to move a casket in, years ago people had viewings in their homes. They refinished the original wood floors which were large planks with wood pegs instead of nails, it was fantastic. It ended up being a gorgeous Victorian home. They wanted to open it up as a B&B but it wasn't the right area.
That's sounds spectacular and must have been a monumental job. Glad to hear others love restoring the past. The special door for family caskets...imagine the reality of the time and we think we have a tough life.
I'd love to see it. You said it was in House Beautiful. Do you have a link or a description I could google? ( not doubting your statement, just really want to see the house! )

Your home is actually a livable piece of art! It’s stunning and thank you for sharing it with us. Because a person’s home is their haven.

We just bought a newly renovated home built in 1900 that looks so similar to this house. ❤ I absolutely love this
OMG, Laine, yesterday I was actually thinking “I wish they would do a video of their house for us newer members of the family! Thank you for this!

Wow. I can’t believe how much work you put into this house. What a transformation! It’s so nice that you saved it from becoming a tear down.
Absolutely gorgeous! Your channel was suggested to me and I LOVE it! Can't wait for the next video.
No accounting for taste (or lack there of).
I can think of two reasons, to save money on heating the place or being too poor to fix the original ceiling.
@@s.z.6200 yep or adding venting that needed to be covered
My only guess is for heating reasons (less area for heat to escape), or just cheap repair of some sort. I agree with you, it’s unthinkable, really..but there are those that think nothing of good taste and don’t consider aesthetics. Not knocking them for being that way, just stating a truth.
@@christinemeleg4535 You seem nice.
Thank you for saving another piece of our country's history! It's gorgeous! ❤
Welcome to our family! There are thousands of us out here fighting the good fight.
Wow! I don’t know what else to say but wow! I love how welcoming it is. Very eclectic. I would love to wake up in this everyday . What a blessing. Thanks for sharing that and I hope you have a blessed weekend darlings 🙏🏽💎🤍🙏🏽🤍💎🙏🏽🤍💎
Sending positive vibes your way. 🤗🧡🍀🟡💰

So nice of you to share your home! Very lovely!
i am amazed at the top-most level of the restoration. You must have had an army of craftsman-restorers who have the greatest passion and skill for their work. I have some cosmetic work to do in my wonderful little house, and I only wish I could find people like that.
Biggest transformation of a house I've ever seen. Kudos to you for taking that on, what a beauty you've turned it into!
Beautiful and refreshing. Love your art work. What a lot of hard work!! Thanks for sharing. Lora
FABULOUS VIDEO !!!
I saw sooo many beautiful things from the house itself to the antiques !! But the big Conch Shell stood out to me !! Now I know where to put mine !!!
I’m in awe. I can’t believe how depressing, square and ugly the house was prier to your restoration. I hope many more homes get restores by you
You can just hear this house making a huge "sigh" ..grateful to be revived in a beautiful way!
Uuuugh! so sorry about the pocket doors!
Thank you for respecting history and making the extra efforts to find and keep everything as close to original as possible.
the previous owners maybe tried making the place into a duplex and that would account for the enclosed staircase? i noticed that a lot of ppl will buy old homes and make them into double rentals.
I don't think so. The staircase just goes to the attic.
What great information! Thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!!! Truly, inspirational!!! ❤️

What a pleasure to finally visit your house. You have wonderful taste, very unique.
Thank you so so much ❤️❤️❤️
You’ve breathed new life in this gorgeous house!
We totally understand that! There are MANY days we feel that way too
Obsessed! I especially love the dining room, and the walls of art 😍😍😍
Thank you for saving these gorgeous old houses, the artistry in them is amazing, you are preserving history and to be commended.
Add a hotub and it’s always the right area
That's sounds spectacular and must have been a monumental job. Glad to hear others love restoring the past. The special door for family caskets...imagine the reality of the time and we think we have a tough life.
I'd love to see it. You said it was in House Beautiful. Do you have a link or a description I could google? ( not doubting your statement, just really want to see the house! )
@@reesemorgan2259 it was 14 years ago, my mother in law most likely still has it, next time I see her, I will ask her for it and take pics
Thank you for sharing. I’d love to see it!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. I was in awe with all the details and your keen eye for decorating.
