This man is a rugby legend, the greatest player ever to have come from NewZealand loved by his nation, but also loved and respected by the Welsh. we miss you Jonah.
With every highlight reel of Jonah i see over the years , the 1999 try against England are left out most of the time. Its one of the most amazing tries he's scored. What a talent he was. His name imprinted in rugby folklore forever 🎉😢
I haven't seen anything closer to this, this guy is an absolute beast, amazing rugby player and in my opinion the best winger of all time unstoppable in his prime
Lomu was 20 years ahead of the game in terms of skill, physicality, size and speed - an absolute nightmare for any defence in his prime, especially when he got into space. One of the all-time greats, RIP.
It’s just a freak statistic that he didn’t score a try against the Springboks; there were plenty of times where he carved their defences apart like any other team - he just didn’t score the try, his team mates did!
@manueldumont3709 it’s amazing how just one side tackle small made on lomu is quite significant for boks fans isn’t it? 🤣the even funnier thing is, James Small decided after 95 he will never try and tackle Lomu again 🤣 That’s why he was pretty much invisible whenever he comes onfield in 1996 up until lomu retired in 2002 he demolished the springboks he was nowhere to be seen. And it’s understandable because the massive boks forward of Os Durant, Bob skinstad, Corne krige, AJ Venter who stupid enough to take Lomu head on and be trampled were enough for James small to know to stay away from lomu for the rest of his career 🤣🤣
@manueldumont3709 James small is one of those unique few with the like of George gregan and Peter stringer who have been heavily praised as Lomu’s takedown when in effect they never tackle lomu more than once 🤣🤣still impressive though 🤣🤣
@manueldumont3709 the first and last time they were ever tackle lomu was in 95. Every boks player that’s stood in the way of Lomu from 96 up until his retirement in 2002 were all trampled upon. So yeah that pretty much sum up the only once tackle that small made on lomu, and how lomu destroyed the springboks during his short career 🤣🤣
Everyone saying he wouldn’t have the same impact in todays game, forgets about Jonah Lomu’s insane training and work ethic to compliment his freak genetics.. watch his documentary.. this man was mentally and physically ahead of his time. And if he were to play in todays game he would adapt and it’ll still be the same result. Jonah is the 🐐!!!!!
Not even Michael Jordan in basketball. Not even Maradona in football. Not even Federer in tennis. No one has ever achieved such excellence in his sport as Lomu in rugby. Lomu is the greatest athlete of all time.
Aside from Jona's ridiculous abilities, in that last try (?) it looked to me as though Kronfeld didn't actually ground the ball after his team-mate gave us another superb demonstration of pure rugby athleticism!
jonah looks like he yhe only one hitting the weights no one on his level that's because he playing against mediocre athletes compared to today's rugby players .. tough dudes but don't look close to.his size .. I'm pretty sure yall have eyes to see
Interestingly, he never scored a try during his career against the Boks. Even the Bok 9 and 10 were tackling him. One of my absolute favourites was a tackle by Joost van der Westhuizen on him. Lomu introduced the world to the professionally trained and bulked up player. Showed the world was physically possible, pushed rugby out of amatuer. Lomu's advantage was schoolboy rugby in nature, he was just bigger and stronger, which intimidated many of his rivals on the pitch. By today's standards, he wouldn't have that advantage anymore, agreed. But that doesn't demean the impact his arrival had on the sport, Lomu was a catalyst of sorts to push player development well and trully into a new professional era. That all said, I do wonder about that bulk and his kidney issues after all the kidney issues Ive seen suffered at highschool rugby lvls by boys not respecting their bodies and coaches pressuring the kids with supplements of all kinds.
He’d still have the same impact, still no one till this day is 6 ft 5 125kgs with his agility and sprinting 100m in 10s… plus people think he was just naturally gifted without taking into consideration that he was an extremely hard worker at his craft. He would adapt to todays game and it’ll be game over for everyone.
@@matthewvanrensburg3824 he never scored but he create shitloads of tries against the boks resulting in so many wins for the ABs. The boks had to commit 3 or 4 guys to always stop him 🤣🤣
Could of been a better game if south Africans left out the poisoning of players, who knows what could of happened anyways 😊❤ lomu is the goat of Rugby union ,R.I.P ❤😊
There will never be another Lomu. Rugby's first SUPERSTAR.
What a player!!!
Absolutely incredible to re-watch his skill, power, speed and determination.
An absolute mega-star of rugby.
RIP Jonah. Sadly missed.
The mind boggles to what Jonah could have done if he had reached his playing peak and been 100% healthy. RIP Jonah #11
❤yes absolutely CORRECT
He be unstoppable

I'll never tire of watching old videos of Lomu. Shout out too for Josh Kronfeld - one of the best handling forwards to ever play the game.
Amaizing how he kept up with lomo so many times
AGREED

He was the Master of Initiating the Contact. He put hits on everyone that wasn't paying attention.

Jonah Lomu legendary
Love from Fiji
The sheer wrekage left in his wake after that first try. Cartoon like.

I could watch this man doing what he did best all day. What a player & more importantly what a human being. Taken too soon . RIP #11
Saw him once. Privileged!

My thoughts too, but hey, we’ll take it😁
Redefined what a winger should be. Happy birthday mate
Just beautiful.
can’t scroll past this video, the legend
I love at 3:38 Mike Brewer putting up his hand saying, 'love you Jonah!'😂
❤GOAT #11 EVER.....R.I.P DOX❤
Legend
The man was VERY SEVERE in his work. Too powerful and too quick? WHAT can you DO??
Kronfeld definitely didn’t get that last try down.
But never scored a try against the Mighty Springboks. Great respect though
Yeah! Wow
The beast of all beasts. 💪🏽 Legendary!
🐐
Cool
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
none better
And then life decided it other plans for him… 😢 RIP
A couple of those should definitely not have been tries 🤣 a real life video of the 95 lomu rugby game

back in an age when defences were poor.. these days, I think he'd be a good player but wouldn't be allowed make most of those tries I'm afraid!

Lol 🤦🏽♀️ this kid back in the days was a kid of 19yrs age, playing at 80% capacity and straight out of high school.

@@tokoforlyfe2384That is true but against the Boks he had about a 50 percent win loss ratio.
Never scored a point in his career against THE SPRINGBOKS... A covinently forgoten FACT. He was eaten alive by our smallest players.
