I think conversations are inherently awkward, even when nothing awkward “happens”. I would stand by your title.
Can’t wait for the next awkward conversation!

I'm new to this and want to understand.
Yes, conversations and almost all human interactions are awkward, but how is that a problem ?
      Is it a problem ?
Do we not learn as we grow up how to interact with ppl ?
I'm struggling to understand this whole thing.

@claire_autumncloud It’s not a problem at all, she just ended the podcast asking how awkward it was, and it was rated “not awkward,” and she said, “we’ll, maybe I’ve misnamed this show..” but I think it’s a great title.

I also had the feelings of never good enough, no satisfaction or pride in achievements, pushed way beyond my limits, perfectionism. Late-diagnosed autistic and I'm doing much better now thankfully.

I downloaded Betwixt a few months ago, and had a strong feeling that it was going to be helpful, despite lack of results with other "similar" avenues. I hadn't had an appropriate enough environment to have felt comfortable delving in, but after watching this video, I'm going to make further effort to explore the app. I'm currently experiencing autistic burnout, I believe, but I think I inherently understand where you were and why, when you burnt out. I used to box, was a powerlifter, and honestly lived a very violent lifestyle in general, because I confused anger for anxiety, and expressed it through aggression. I'm rambling, but what I mean to say is thank you in advance for the Betwixt app, and thank you to Sam for featuring you in this video

Love the new podcast! As an AUDHDer myself, I think it's great that your conversations with other neurodivergent people are the opposite of awkward but that you are discussing how awkward your lived experience has been or can be in a largely neurotypical world. Fantastic guests, great conversations. Can't wait for more. I have always really resonated with your content Yo Samdy Sam, particularly as I grew up in the Netherlands so really enjoy that extra aspect. ❤

I am very positivly suprised that I forgot it is in english (which is normally connected with "a lot of concentration/extra work I have to do") listening to your conversation.
    It was so exiting.
And I really hope this app will be availaböe in german language soon! I love playing adventures alone on my computer as well as playing board-games with others (sadly I have no friends who like to play them with me, but maybe in the future...?).
    Fantastic first episode, Sam❤😊

Sam, your mention of an "anti-perfectionist’s journey" hit me for six. I’ve long recognised the discomfort of perfectionism, but not the decay of mental health and self-esteem that it brings, and I used your words independently a few months ago to describe what I felt like I was becoming during an intense identity crisis ("if I’m not a perfectionist as a classical musician then what do I have to offer"). Ironically that discomfort shot me back towards perfectionism as a defence mechanism, which I’m trying to work out the reason for now.
Also, had to pause the video halfway to download Betwixt, which I adore! It unlocked a long-dormant aspect of my childhood and metal-obsessed teen years that I shut down upon entering university. Thanks for reintroducing awe into my life.

This really made my night! Thank you both for awkwarding!! I love the app already have joined one of the creative groups in March. I have had such a hard time connecting with my creative energy since getting off all meds for ADHD…ect. I miss writing and studying about my interests and being able to focus so easily and for hours at a time. Painting and any creative writing is hard for me to access , and I can never finish a project , always getting distracted burnt out and overwhelmed. I have so much primal physical energy and have not figured out how to transfer this creatively without medicine. There’s so much more I’d love to chat about . Thank you so much for these connections and I am very excited to awkwardly adventure this with you all!

Perfectionism was not ingrained in me at a young age. Matter of fact my father was financially irresponsible and my parents weren't the tidiest (good parents not talking crap about them) but I still struggle with perfectionismin a way that definitely impacts my life. I think this shows how strong the traits of ADHD can be

I have been recently diagnosed at age 56 and I am a woman. I have always thought that if you were diagnosed as Aspergers you needed to have a higher level of intelligence. In my diagnosis it says that I have normal level of intelligence but not a high level of intelligence. I have spoken to a psychiatrist who says that although everthing is called Autism now, ndependent of the support needs level one has, she told me that all level 1 Autism is considered Aspergers. Samdy or anyone else if you can please explain this to me. Thank you very much.

I think that Rule Britannia has worse social overtones for me.
A, age 43, I have a long feeling of danger around de facto power structures, because they tend to crap on minorities from on high, and my life of being autistic has shown me to be a vulnerable minority in society.
B, objectively (historiographically) I think a lot of folks can agree that empire and monarchy are creepy. Gaslighty, abusive, and creepy.
C, I'm very weirded out by 'believers'. Believers are frightening. When someone believes something strongly there's less likely going to be a good faith debate (nice pun by accident), and no telling how they'll decide that it's fine to breach basic social contracts. And given minority vulnerability and trauma associated, a believer in de facto power, who is imposing that into my home with loud sound, would be really awful.
I was baffled by the coronation generally. I'd forgotten that people actually meant it when they said that monarchy is nice.

    • @katec9893
      @katec9893 2 месяца назад +1

I'm halfway through the video and there's been no mention of monarchy so far but I just wanted to say that I totally agree. I find it disturbing that monarchies still exist, especially the British monarchy with all the land, palaces, stolen jewels, gold, carriages, ceremonies and castles. Plus how they're taxpayer funded, despite being trillionaires. And how people worship them whilst looking down on anyone struggling. It's disturbing and wrong and hopefully they'll be abolished soon.
