HOLY SMOKES FINALLY I found you! -this gem has been waiting for 10 years! You guys are the BEST. Thanks for all the supporting materials!!! Hope you're both doing well in this post-covid world...
Awesome. I bow in the dust. I will study both sheets and try to create a decent one man version. After 100 years training so I can do that I will come back to you guys with a video :) See you next century.
I LOVE this video! A friend of mine asked me to learn to play this on keys for a jam tonight. There will only be one keyboard there. I'll see what I can do to come up with something that takes the most prominent bits of both of the parts you demonstrated here. Or maybe I'll just play part #1. And i'll probably ask one of the guitarists to play the main horn riff on guitar. ... It might sound good. Might suck! LOL!
Yes they are :) If you go to the courses section of the Nexus website you will find a link to download all the resources as a zip file on the Piano & Keyboards page. Enjoy!
considering the horn parts i'd have to call the last chord of the chorus Bb7#5 but now i'm REALLY nitpicking haha. great tutorial. you guys nailed the left hand staccato thumb-action on swung 16ths to really bring out the groove...that's totally what makes it work. :)
@@jonvincentmusic I've heard every number of tracks from 2-8 claimed for this. It seems the most reasonable number is 2 tracks, with a couple more implied polyrhythms courtesy of Stevie's virtuosity on the keys.
@@homomorphic I hear at least 3 and sometimes it seems 4.So even if there are only 3 but recorded with slight variations this makes things confusing cause sometimes it will be more and somtimes less ,due to variations.Anyway, this remains a milestone about clavinet sound.
Wow, great tutorial guys, many thanks for posting! The 'Classic Hooks' video is also terrific, and makes me want to trade in my NE3 for a Stage2. I agree with hadrienboye that the Nord clavinet sound isn't so great by VST standards - I'd love to see some update clavinet/EP sounds from Clavia in the future. Keep up the great work!
Hi guys, thank you for this great tutorial. I'm a beginner and unluckily I can't read the music, I would be very grateful if you guys could publish the midi files of both parts, so that I can improve my techique, studing it in slow motion (I would pay if necessary). Thank you
Great tutorial! It's so nice to see and hear two Nord Stages together. Great playing and feel also. But I can't find the backing files you offered on your website? Are the backing files still available?
Thumbs-up! Bravo!! really really stunning! as you say at the end of the video, the backing tracks are available at the site, but I can't quite find them. It'd be great if you can tell me where actually I can have them =] thanks!!!
Awesome! Is the secondary part played by the guitarist in the stage show? Tutorials I've seen for playing "Superstition" on guitar are really arrangements of the clavinet part.
Thanks to nexus for this great video. The first link in the description now works great ! Could you just tell us which settings you had on your clavinet? I have nord electro 2 for one month and i'm not used to the differents settings (clav pickup and clav filter...)
OK maybe I'm slow but where's the link to the 'accompany track' to practice with that's mentioned at the end of this video. Thanks for the vid and thanks even more if the other tracks are available.
great video and very friendly but I must point out that you don't beam your notes and rests correctly and in very rhythmic music like this that's not a small error
Hey! Thanks for the tutorial. Would you possibly have ALL tracks for the superstition figured out? Also: Could you do a tutorial on how to play Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground"? There's at least 3 clavi tracks + some EP-tracks. Would be greatful if I got some help with those. Thanks again for the tutorial.
I don’t know if you’re still monitoring this thread after 10 years. Since the original has so many clavinet parts, how did Stevie perform this live? Thanks!
it is not at all a tutorial, it is only to show us these very beautiful north keyboard at 3000e!!! for advertising. shooting, lighting, everything is there (except the tutorial), the ad must always lie one way or another, otherwise it wouldn't be real advertising! we are supposed to be deceived by the name of the channel: ''nexus keys'' and yes, these master's graduates did not put the word ''north'', decidedly, they are too strong!
Very good video, but this covers the verses only. You have taken the time and effort to produce a high quality upload, but are missing the bridge and chorus sections! For the usual/normal RUclips tutorials that would be fine, but you guys have clearly set out to produce a high quality video yet have not covered the whole song!
Hi Wesley, thanks for your comment. We didn't want to make the video too long so focussed on the main hook which is generally what we were getting requests for but you do make a fair point :) In case you need the chords for the chorus (if you believe in things...) they are as follows: Bb7, B9b5, Bb7, A9b5, Ab7, Bb7. Hope that helps :)
These music men who show how to play the clavinet timbre ...?))) The party of the song does not oblige player to watch this video - is absurd level for students and tech who shows more for PR ...
Good video well intentioned but, I didn't like the fake clarinet sounds. The trouble is that young people will think that clarinets sound like these keyboards which is of course not the case. I like you guys and if you borrowed a couple of Clavinets and made a video the sound be awesome.
Christen Knows Piano ...yes vid is a disgrace. How dare 2 guys provide free content and expert and clear tuition to show you how to play an iconic riff? They even provided the notation for both parts... utterly terrible. I'll surely find your free content is far better and I definitely won't shit all over it.
Yeah it was honestly pretty bad. The synchopation was wrong, the notes weren't choppy enough and there was absolutely no variation which made this feel mechanical instead of funky. This sounded like a couple of kids int he garage playing around more so than a tutorial you'd want to point people to.
Nice! 'I Wish' bass line making an appearance too which is always good!
incredible how both parts fit so well together and produce such an heavy groove.
HOLY SMOKES FINALLY I found you! -this gem has been waiting for 10 years! You guys are the BEST. Thanks for all the supporting materials!!! Hope you're both doing well in this post-covid world...
This is great. Been playing this 40 years. Nice to refresh!
Awesome. I bow in the dust. I will study both sheets and try to create a decent one man version. After 100 years training so I can do that I will come back to you guys with a video :) See you next century.
Nexus Keys This was originally played on the Clavinet aka Electric Clavichord.
Just found your Nord Stage 2 video with the 10 demo settings, awesome! Thanks for sharing your time, knowledge and making such high quality videos.
Thanks for displaying the musical notes as well. You guys rock!
They got some groove going on! Awesome
Thank you. Please more tutorials! Nord to Nord - it is really cool idea!
I believe Stevie plays the melody in the left hand.
I LOVE this video!

So, this is your secret hobbie, Mark.
Zuckerberg with fake British accent
This is just awesome to watch. Looks like a blast. Cheers.
Yes they are :) If you go to the courses section of the Nexus website you will find a link to download all the resources as a zip file on the Piano & Keyboards page. Enjoy!
this is FUNKY guys, well done!
The clav does not go lower than first octave F. So the lowest note would be the second octave E flat. Other than that, the riff sounds cool.
wish I could give more than one thumbs up. thanks for this

so awesome
I wish me band mates heard this.....I kept telling them there was only one of me and 2 on the recording.
There's actually 8

@@homomorphic has anyone ever asked stevie? Man's not dead iirc
It's actually 3 on the record so you will need 6 hands if you want to recreate it
I love this video, this song..youmare fantastic
very helpful, that 1/16 swung tip may have changed my world
Brilliant video.
Wow, great tutorial guys, many thanks for posting!

Check out Rick Beato’s vid on deconstructing this whole song... amazing to hear all the different parts

this is amazing!!!!! congrats guys
Great tutorial! Well done!
Awesome! Great job guys. I tried to recreate it once it sounded okay-ish. Yours sound phenomenal 🎹🎵
the started playing the i wish baseline half way through the first run through
8 Clavinet parts? Wow it needs to be written down on paper.
Great tutorial! It's so nice to see and hear two Nord Stages together. Great playing and feel also. But I can't find the backing files you offered on your website? Are the backing files still available?
That's some vigorous head nodding going on there.
Nexus Keys I need the resources that go w/ this Tutorial cause it's a fun one to play.
Fantástico
I'd love the sheet music for this arrangement
Guys many thanks for sharing this tutorial where can i download the notation you have for this song.
A Julliard grad told me that the school had access to the original tracks for this album, and there were 5 clavinet tracks.
Thumbs-up! Bravo!! really really stunning! as you say at the end of the video, the backing tracks are available at the site, but I can't quite find them. It'd be great if you can tell me where actually I can have them =] thanks!!!
Thanks . Thats the way I like it
Thanks! We thought it would be fun to sneak that in... ;)
thy you so much man!
nord stage classic vs nord stage 2. Nice!
great!!!! :)
Couldn't find the backing track. Nice tutorial
Yoooo try adding in the small amp sim with a bit of drive and setting clav pickups to just bass pickup (cB), well at least for that main riff.
Sheet Music please?
Awesome! Is the secondary part played by the guitarist in the stage show? Tutorials I've seen for playing "Superstition" on guitar are really arrangements of the clavinet part.
Nice touch, that is ;)
The brother at 2:19 is not playing what's written, he's off by a quarter note. Try counting while he plays at that part.
You can play the notes over and over and over again now I just need to sew on a couple of arms and .....
Thanks to nexus for this great video. The first link in the description now works great ! Could you just tell us which settings you had on your clavinet? I have nord electro 2 for one month and i'm not used to the differents settings (clav pickup and clav filter...)
Jean Basile GERVET just put some drive on it.
The link which you kindly provided doesn´t go to the resources page. Cheers
Seems a lot easier when I thought it was a guitar for 40 years.
Why is the bass playing ''I wish'' :D ?
thanks for sharing the wealth :-)
OK maybe I'm slow but where's the link to the 'accompany track' to practice with that's mentioned at the end of this video.
Thanks for the vid and thanks even more if the other tracks are available.
Sweet, very tight. How long did it take to bring it up to this level?
Did you notice the bass in the back of the video turned to the I wish line at one point
Just feckin' play the thing, LOL. 😂
great video and very friendly but I must point out that you don't beam your notes and rests correctly and in very rhythmic music like this that's not a small error
but superstition was played on a clavinet C with an high touch, so its an other game again, I think, no ?
@Maxence Carlier Thats like comparing acoustic vs electric guitar, it doesnt change the arrangement
Just for fun :)
Tempo is slower than original. Maybe for the tutorial? Nicely done, gentlemen!
Hey! Thanks for the tutorial.
Would you possibly have ALL tracks for the superstition figured out?

Thanks again for the tutorial.
Do you have the sheet in pdf? Thanks
Cannot do on a Nord what must be done on a proper clavinet.
Ok Mark Zuckerberg. Now back to the office.
So, where are the release chords??
Sorry that the link has been broken for so long! It is now fixed: nexus-ica.co.uk/challenge-matt-score-store#.VKrEX8Z8x-h
Still get a 404 with that link
I don’t know if you’re still monitoring this thread after 10 years. Since the original has so many clavinet parts, how did Stevie perform this live? Thanks!
he looks like mark zuckerberg :DDD
Which one? :DDDD
well obviously the right one when you watch from 00:11 :DDDD
If you want the person take it as a compliment, you better say "Mark Zuckerberg looks like him". Just a tipp ;)
Less reptilian
A little but zuck is much nerdier and more of a robot.
The way their heads go
Can't find the link or download page. Just a Christian website !!
Oh dear
I wish bass line being played in the background...
nice!...the guitar part don't need to be played on clavi...
How is Superstition an infamous track? Don't you mean famous?
It's easier to play on Guitar in Eb Standard.
it is not at all a tutorial, it is only to show us these very beautiful north keyboard at 3000e!!!

Oh my god Marck Zuckerberg!!!XD
Wtf is a "swan 16th"?

I did mean Clavinets but spell checker attacked me.
How is this song infamous huh????

Freddy Krueger can play the clavinet pretty well 🤣
speed 1.5
Playing the keyboard pigeon style :D Just joking

John Hancock they must needed to add some tube or amp Sim drive on the Nord. It sounds sterile the way they recorded.
Basically Stevie is blind so Black keys was easy to play
Parts played entirely on the black keys....by the white guy 😂
mark zuckerberg
Nord's clavinet sound sucks so much... way too clean. Very nice tutorial though.
speak to muuuuch
Anyone think this was terrible??
Christen Knows Piano ...yes vid is a disgrace. How dare 2 guys provide free content and expert and clear tuition to show you how to play an iconic riff? The two parts wash each other out a bit on the video.. listening on my tiny cellphone speaker so....
