How does 1 street in Dublin confirm it being lawless? Most of the issues in Dublin are usually confined to these areas. This behaviour is disgraceful. The system of welfare handouts in Ireland needs to be re-examined. Everybody should be given three choices (a) Get a job. (b) Attend a college course or apprentice training. (c) Do 39 hours community service each week. Preferably each of these choices would require them to be up and present themselves at their chosen occupation at 08.00 hours. Failing to adopt one of these choices should mean choosing NO MORE welfare payments, and NO MORE housing benefit period!! Most of Dublin is fine but in some areas there are a lot of problems with unemployment and rundown areas with nothing to do and then issues with the law comes up partly because of it. It’s the old cliche there’s is a lot of decent families living and working in cherry orchard/ ballyfermot a lot of people working hard to get out out of ballyfermot . There is also a minority of families who don’t care where there kids are and seem to thrive on this stuff , the other side is that the Dublin police especially ballyfermot police don’t do themselves any favours, they are petty , abusive and really seem to thrive harassing teenagers of a evening in particular , I’ve seen it many times , kids in groups of different ages and sets all kind of hang around together are kind forced to do so by circumstance , there is nowhere in ballyfermot community wise and therefore nothing to do in the evenings , they want to see there friends but ain’t allowed to loiter and so are pushed between public 2 parks 1 , ballyfermot is a big area yet to be herded every evening between a mile stretch and back each 30 to 40 minutes ? Great way to police the area the amount of interaction ( bad I should add) between the Garda and teenagers must astound any normal person it’s bizarre and irrational they generally treat all the kids the same punishing them verbally for nothing or something a relative might had did decades earlier, The Garda have a very difficult and often Dangerous job policing Dublin that is not helped by the fact that there relationship with the community is literally non existent

Most of Dublin is fine but in some areas there are a lot of problems with unemployment and rundown areas with nothing to do and then issues with the law comes up partly because of it. Its not an excuse but I partly can understand why crap like this occurs. It needs to be sorted, and also the Garda are ill equipped anyway. I actually come from cherry orchard grew up there in my 40’s now living abroad but my family still live in lower ballyfermot. It’s the old cliche there’s is a lot of decent families living and working in cherry orchard/ ballyfermot a lot of people working hard to get out out of ballyfermot . There is also a minority of families who don’t care where there kids are and seem to thrive on this stuff , the other side is that the Dublin police especially ballyfermot police don’t do themselves any favours, they are petty , abusive and really seem to thrive harassing teenagers of a evening in particular , I’ve seen it many times , kids in groups of different ages and sets all kind of hang around together are kind forced to do so by circumstance , there is nowhere in ballyfermot community wise and therefore nothing to do in the evenings , they want to see there friends but ain’t allowed to loiter and so are pushed between public 2 parks 1 , ballyfermot is a big area yet to be herded every evening between a mile stretch and back each 30 to 40 minutes ? Great way to police the area the amount of interaction ( bad I should add) between the Garda and teenagers must astound any normal person it’s bizarre and irrational they generally treat all the kids the same punishing them verbally for nothing or something a relative might had did decades earlier, The Garda have a very difficult and often Dangerous job policing Dublin that is not helped by the fact that there relationship with the community is literally non existent

The garda can't do anything. Arrest them and the courts let them off with 100 euro for the poor box. We need longer mandatory sentences that run consecutively not concurrently. Guys get done for 10 burglaries, gets 6 months for each, all to run consecutively - he's back out robbing in 3 months.
